Reviewed January 31, 2014 via mobile

I stayed From Saturday-Monday in mid January . This hotel located between Ave D'Opera and Rue de la Paix, one of the high end area in Paris. The hotel entrance is very small but if you check before the location, you can find easy. Well trained " Daytime" staff, in the evening, older gentleman was better than younger who was half drunk -kind. Anyway, you cannot imagine that you are heart of Paris and no noise at all! Maybe, many Japanese staying in this hotel....

This is a small boutique hotel situated in the “Opera” district of central Paris on the right bank. Its location is its best feature. The hotel is ideally situated for seeing the major tourist spots, and is surrounded by quintessentially Parisienne architecture, shops, cafes and bustling nightlife, although being located on a small side road off the Avenue de L’Opera (a major road in this area) it is quiet and secluded. The hotel is within walking distance of the Metro (2-3 mins walk), the fabulous Paris Opera building (4 mins), Lafayette shopping centre (8 min), Sacre Coeur (25 min), the Vendome (5 mins), Place de Concorde (20 min), the Louvre/”lock” bridge (17 min) and Notre Dame (35 min). You can also walk to the Arc de Triumph and Eiffel Tower in under an hour.
The desk staff are extremely friendly and accommodating (reception is open 24 hours) and make you feel very welcome. The rooms are very small (a common feature of Parisian hotels), but comfortable and well-appointed and seem to be reasonably well insulated from adjacent rooms. We (family of 3) were upgraded to a split level room on the 6th (top) floor which included a long narrow bedroom up a short winding flight of narrow wooden steps (not for the elderly) and a single bed downstairs next to the coffee maker and bathroom. Both levels had TVs, tables and wardrobes. Quirky and a bit cramped, but the overall experience was fine.

Helpful hints: 1) the Rue Daunou is a hard to find little road near the top of Avenue de L’Opera - there’s a Hugo Boss store on the corner- and the entrance to the hotel is an obscure small door sandwiched between a Japanese and an Italian restaurant (PastaPaPa); 2) The restaurants in the immediate vicinity are not up to much (avoid PastaPapa, awful cheap microwaved food). However, there is a fabulous Chinese restaurant (Passy Mandarin) on Rue D’Antin, a couple of mins around the corner that is a little pricey but worth it. 3) For cheap breakfasts there is a good patisserie/coffee shop (a chain, sorry forgotten the name) on the other side of the Avenue de L’Opera near the top of the road (croissant and coffee for <5 euros) and another better one (Café de la Paix) just around the corner on the Blvd de Capucines; 3) most Paris restaurants don’t seem to open at night until 7 pm so don’t plan to eat early! 4) There’s an Air France office just around the corner on Avenue de L’Opera if you need one, and several ATMs on either side of the same road, very close to the hotel.

We came on 30th of Dec, supposed to stay for two nights - however firstly they could not find our reservation then when we saw the room, which is very small with old furniture, we wake up with bitten by bad bugs, they were on the bed, and behind the bad- we asked them to immediately cancel our second night. Staff acknowledged the cancellation but asked us to pay for it! Even the manager of hotel was behaving worst than any of the staff.
For such money you can stay at any 4 star hotel just block away. It is a very serious complaint we made, and got no feedback nor any apology from the hotel. They charged us for service they did not even provided to us. We told them that we will call a police, but they were just arguing with us and made a laughing.
Would never recommend this hotel, be aware that you have to wash all your cloths before coming home because of bed bugs . One big disaster.

Hotel is next to a bar but you have no problems with that. The entry is very narrow but reception friendly. Some stress to find my reservation.
For a vacation hotel it is sufficient. Location in the city is ok but along you are close to the metro any place is fine. They have small room and everything is close to worn out. Bed was ok. There is a mini bar and TV and one chair but do not expect more.
It is a typical Paris hotel where they are limited in sqm, have a lot of guest so worn out and they can charge high prices for something that normally would be a 80 euro hotel. Breakfast was again bare minimum
Was OK but not something I can recommend.

I was staying in the Duplex room during my stay this time, the room is very spacious compare to other Paris hotel, it was located in a very central area in Paris, where everything including shopping and site seeing area are in walking distance.

Yet the design of the room is very simple, it is being re-furnished from a old hotel, so you can see some of the interior are old, but it is still clean and tidy. Staff are very friendly and can speak fluent English, they are helpful with all needs.

The wifi is the only thing that need to be complained, it was very weak, besides this, I will definitely come back next time.

Room Tip: Duplex room is perfect in size for small family or friends of 3.

Very dirty and old carpet,it's over you can image and no slipper.women's hair on our bed and you can smell someone is smoking in other room.
The air condition control panel in our room doesn't work. When we told the manager the temperature in room is too hot,she ask us to open the window and her attitude was really really bad, this is our worst experience.
We pay EUR235 for the first night and then check out ASAP in the next morning.
3 star (???)Hotel Daunou Opera, it's super terrible!
