Having never been to Paris (or France for that matter), we had no idea what to expect in terms of a hotel. We selected one of the less expensive options from the list and were pleased. This hotel isn't "high end", but very comfortable (and the location is great) for an affordable trip to Paris.

The location was fantastic - directly overlooking the Seine made for a great view and a great way to find our hotel after walking around the city. It is also in walking distance to the Louvre and other main attractions. It is close to several restaurants and shops in the area.

The room was small, but comfortable enough if you don't plan on spending a lot of time in the room. Yes, there was a pullout couch to sleep on, but we knew this ahead of time and it was comfortable. The room was also kept very cold which I prefer, especially after a long day of walking in the sun.

The staff was friendly, helpful, and able to speak English very well which made up for our lack of French.

Overall, great stay at an affordable price.

In my previous trips to Paris I've stayed in several neighborhoods, but nothing compares to Saint-Germain-des-Près. This hotel is close to everything, just steps from the Notre Dame and near the Louvre and other tourist atractions nearby. There is a metro and RER station nearby (direct train connection to CDG airport, unfortunately there are some stairs to the way out of the station).
The hotel is very modern. Service is always perfect. Free wi-fi. Staff is fluent in english. Rooms are big to the Paris pattern. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment with a kitchenette, which worked very well for us, since there are lots of bakerys and grocery stores nearby.
There is also a coffee machine (complimentary) in the lobby, and a vending machine with refreshments and snacks. There is also a laundry in the property (9 euros for wash+dry).
I'll definetely return to this hotel when in Paris!

Obviously everyones standards and expectations are vastly different, but I can only comment on our recent experience. LOVED everything about it. When we arrived the front desk staff were very helpful and very friendly welcoming us and taking time to ask a bit about who we were, where we're from, what we plan to do etc. Made it seem more personal. It was our wedding anniversary gift, and I happened to mention this is why we were there, and our desk staff agent Mylene went out of her way to give us a great apartment on the 7th floor, room 2703. When we walked in we were blown away! The living room area faced right over the Sienne with a glance to the right loking at Notre Dame and a glance to the left looking at the Louvre. You could not ask for a beter view - period!

Our room had a pull out bed that our teenagers used. There was a nice work desk, a great kitchenette with Microwave, fridge, sink, toaster, coffee maker, dishawasher, all the cups plates forks spoons etc. There are so many grat places to eat, trust me you wont use it much!

The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Shower and tub were great, heated bathtowel racks with hairdryer.

The main room was seperated by a door and small hallway to the bedroom which had a comfortable queen size bed, small TV, closet, safe, and plenty of room. It opened into the courtyard so if you want more quiet, it was perfect. Even the main room was very quiet and outside of having a police car go by (infrequent) you wont notice noise unless you totally picky. You could also close that door so if someone was using the washroom, neither area would be disturbed.

Quick new elevators made the trip up and down easy. The wireless was reliable, fast and easy to connect to up to 4 computers/phones. There are also 4 computers downstairs to access anytime as well as printers.

There is a continental breakfast daily which looked really nice and comprable to most here in North America. The price seems high at first until you walk out the door and start seeing how expensive food is in Paris. We never took advantage of it as we were up and out the door most days.

Nice bright clean lobby with loads of seating and a nice dining area to relax or do some work if you had to. There are modern electronic card reader locks on rooms as well the front door are locked around 10pm which is no trouble to get in as you just need to swipe your room key. They also have a few buckets of umbrellas in case one of those Paris rain days happens!

THIS IS THE BIGGEST PERK OF THIS HOTEL---The location can't be beat!!!! Walking distance to all the main places most people want to see. There's also a maze of great little streets with numerous restaurants just 3 blocks away. The Metro also is 3 blocks away and will litterally connect you anywhere you want to go. The RER C train is there which we used daily. The Metro is unbelievably EASY to use even for the most novice of travellers with incredibly well marked routes. We did not get lost or miss a stop the entire time.

Maid service is not like we have here in North America and is European with a sheet change every other day and a quick straitening up cleaning daily. I never found any issue with this at all and our room was always clean and straitened. Once again if your so picky about this, only staying in a 5 star Hilton or Ritz will satisfy you - maybe! Your in Paris for the experience and you wont be dissapointed staying here.

When we go back, would we stay there? IN A HEARTBEAT!!! I HIGHLY reccomend this hotel to anyone travelling, whether it's a couple or a family of four. Even though this Hotel is rated a 4 star, I would easily give this a 5 star rating with no reservations what so ever!

Room Tip: Ask for the Apartment for more room as well as a higher floor facing the street which will give you the views you came to Paris for!

DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL, would have been my first rating, however I have calmed a bit since. Firstly they want you to pay up front. that's so if you are disgusted you will have a tough time getting your money back or any compensation. After check in we noticed the room to be hot. ( it smelled like your granny's washroom as well ) when I talked to the front desk they suggested I open the window to try and cool it down first. We went out for dinner, We had a one bedroom apartment which overlooked the alley, for which we paid full price. We had two children with us as well. We all did not sleep for more than two hours. As others have posted the air conditioning does not work. In the morning I asked the front counter to please have it looked at or fixed. We toured Paris. Upon our return room was not made and room was extremely hot. I went to front desk as my wife was doing laundry. Girl at the front tried her best and even reserved me another room for people who do have room problems. She said she had two but had to get managers approval. This took at least 15 minutes. Finally manager came out and said all we have is two standard rooms and my children would have to sleep in a separate room. I said that wasn't good enough, he said that's all we have. I said NO the girl at the front is holding a room, again he said no and that someone else was to get that room. I asked if they could check another hotel, he said they had a sister hotel which would accommodate us. Meanwhile my wife was in the laundry room, which just happened to be the same temperature as our one bedroom. Listen to this, They were upgraded to a one bedroom as they were staying for 10 days. So because this place discriminates on your length of stay 5 days compared to 10, I guess they did not want to move us and why would they, as they already have our money. Management is not trained at all in customer service and in fact actually treat you as an inconvenience. Staff try a lot harder, however are not Impowered to make any decisions. People from North America you are staying at a Motel Six or comparable (sorry motel six) As this was a first and last time in Paris, perhaps this is what they have to offer I don't know. Since then we have stayed at a Novotel in Monaco and Hotel Orafi in Firenze, and can't say enough good about those hotels. BOTH Ourtstanding!! And go far beyond to impress the guest. One mans or one families experience. I hate to be negative, however. BUYER BEWARE!!
P.s. They have a sign in the lobby signed by someone named Christine Peterson from trip advisor, giving them a 4.5 rating. go figure!?!?!?

Room Tip: To see room before paying, and make sure air conditioning works. Paris can be very Hot and Muggy!

Dear Sir,

We read with much concern about the unpleasant experience you encountered during your previous stay with us.

We apologize for having caused you discomfort due to an incident with the air conditioning. During your recent stay with us and due to an unforeseen reason, the entire system encountered a technical failure which necessitated the intervention of the air cooler manufacturing company. The engineers worked as quickly as possible to repair the system. Unfortunately due to the delay in obtaining the necessary spare parts they were unable to do so earlier.

The air conditioning system was restarted on 5 July, 2 days prior your departure.

As we discussed during your stay, unfortunately due to the fact that we were fully booked in one bedroom apartments at that time we were unable to move you to an identical apartment, hence the reason why we accommodated you in two studios, of course with no extra charge. Again we apologize for the inconvenience caused but please rest assured that the breakdown in the air conditioning system was an unexpected and isolated case.

Concerning our request for payment upon check-in, allow me to explain. At Citadines Apart’Hotels and contrary to regular hotels we rent studios and apartments, not hotel rooms. Therefore like all rent, it is paid in advance. This is standard practice for all our properties with all our clients and in no way reflects anything negative towards our valued clients.

We hope that you will reconsider staying with us here at Citadines St Germain de Près, or any of our serviced residence within the Ascott group, giving us the opportunity to serve you better.

In the meantime should you wish to elaborate further on this or other topics, please feel free to send me an email directly at : laurent.bigot@citadines.com

I was having a difficult time finding a hotel in paris which could accommodate our famly of 4 in one room but found this hotel which our needs. Pros were: suite was very large (I think ours was exceptionally large ...it even had a stair case), quiet in that we faced courtyard, small kitchen, free coffee in lobby, laundry room, and location. We could easily walk to metro, Louvre, Notre Dame, and quiet street behind lead to shops and restaurants.
Cons were: price (400 plus euros per night), sterile decor (furniture looks cheap and mismatched), lack of basic room amenities (tissue box, clock, robes). Beds and bedding was just okay - i would expect better for the price. Pull out couch was more a two piece trundle bed and was quite good for kids; even adults could sleep on it comfortably.
All and all, I think we did as possable for the hotel.
