“Balcony view to die for”
Reviewed September 23, 2005

My husband and I had planned that our last three days in France, after a 6 week holiday, would be our best. As pretty well seasoned travellers aged in our fifties, we were hoping for a hotel that offered old fashioned beauty and elegance, rather than post moden austerity. We were not disappointed. The Regina was charming, with excellent, helpful staff who were all gracious, polite and a pleasure to talk with. The hotel breafast was excellent. The bar, with its wood panneling and frosted glass was stunning, and the hotel dining room pleasant and relaxed. The location could not have been more central for our needs and our room looked directly onto the side of the Louvre, with a breathtkaing view of the Tullieries and the Arch de Triump and even the Eiffel tower. Given prices of comparable hotels in this location, the Regina was more than reasonable. The concierges were extremely courteous and helpful. We will be returning to the Regina on our next holiday, and hope that it hasnt changed too much!

In September this year I took a weekend trip to Paris as a surprise for my girlfriend. It was a last minute booking but the booking staff were very efficient and friendly, the whole process was made much easier as they tolerated my broken French and put a great deal of effort into arranging our stay.

On arrival we were welcomed by name (a nice touch in these modern times) and our room was well prepared. We had a beautiful suite for the weekend which I think was reasonably priced for the room and location. The suite was spacious, light and richly decorated. The furniture was amazing and the room featured a fresco. It was a pleasure to be in.

The bathroom was simply wonderful and was equipped with a hamamm (steam room) which was amazingly relaxing, also the bathroom was well stocked with quality products and nice big fresh towels. The views from the room were brilliant also.

The concierge was first rate and booked us into a lovely restaurant (I wish I could remember what it was called as it was amazing) and made everything very easy for us. The bar staff were also very good and the bar was well stocked.

It's ideally located for all the tourist spots and is close to public transport if you're not up for a good walk. Paris is a wonderful vibrant city and despite having been there several times before, and being increasingly expensive, it's still my favourite weekend escape.
