My wife and I recently stayed for a week at Le Grand and had a terrific stay. I agree with much of what has been said here, including in terms of a small room and very pricey. However, this didn't disturb what for us felt like a 5-star stay.
I was especially taken by the history of this gorgeous hotel. And though our room was small and overlooked a little courtyard (no view), it was a luxuriously appointed, very comfortable and clean room.
Compliments to the concierge desk, who from a single email request I placed the day before we arrived made sure there were flowers in our room for my wife's b-day, and added a half bottle of champagne and a small chocolate cake on the house.
I also wanted to note that, contrary to a couple other recent posts, our bathroom was very large by almost any standard with separate shower and tub. And our a/c was actually making the room too cool, which was very easily fixed by adjusting the thermostat. I realize rooms are different, and I'm not suggesting that others didn't have those problems - just that we did not.More
