“very clean & spacious; great location”
Reviewed May 25, 2005

The room is spacious, very clean & quiet. I love the calm contemporary
unpretentious decor. Heated maple floor in the bathroom is a nice touch. The top floor has view of the Eiffel Tower. Subway station is just steps from
its front door. Kenzo and Paul Smith shops are just down the street.
Mid-to-high-end shopping, e.g. LV, Cartier, at St. Germaine is within
walking distance. 10 min. walk to D'osay museum; 20 min. to Notre Dame; 30 min. to Louvre. Convenience store next door has cheap bottled water (from 0.4 euro for 1.5L), beer & wines (from 2 euro for 750ml!). I could not ask for more at this price. One last tip: it was actually cheaper to book the
hotel by calling directly. They gave me a lower price (~CAD350@ for
city-view top floor with queen-size bed) and include breakfasts and
welcoming cocktails.

Had a wonderful stay at K+K Hotel Cayre in Paris.

Rooms were small but clean and modern.

Very central. Great location for exploring Paris on foot.

Internet access in the lobby was very convenient.

Les Flores Brasserie on Rue du Bac (just around the corner) was great for coffee and pastries in the morning.

We will stay here again on our next visit to Paris.

I just returned from Paris on May 1, 2005. This hotel is in a great location and very clean. The rooms are small but comfortable. The bathroom and sheets were very clean (white sheets with white duvet covers). The staff is very helpful. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel K+K Cayre from March 27th thru April 2nd, 2005. Some of the negative reviews on this website almost convinced me to change hotels at the last minute, but I decided against it. And I am so glad. While I had been to Paris before, this was my husband's first visit and Hotel K+K Cayre made a wonderful trip perfect. HOTEL STAFF- The front desk staff was very welcoming. The price of the continental breakfast and that it was not included in the price of our room was clearly explained to us. The porter escorted us upstairs, showed us the room, explained how to use the phone, where the safe was, the charge for the mini bar, etc. and returned very quickly when I requested an ironing board and iron. Each morning when we dropped off our room key and every afternoon/evening when we returned we were greeted with a smile. Towards the middle of the week, the staff had come to know us well enough that they had our key ready without our asking for it. The staff was also very helpful in recommending nearby restaurants in a variety of price ranges and with a variety of cuisines. Upon our departure, the desk staff carefully reviewed our bill with us (no mistakes), arranged to mail our postcards for us, and wished us a safe journey home. ROOM- The room, a Classic Double, was very clean and furnished in a modern Scandinavian style (the photos are dead on). I called ahead to request a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower or Sacre Coeur and was given a room with a view of Sacre Coeur. The small balcony allowed us to step out and greet the city each morning. Despite facing a main street, we could hear almost nothing when the french doors were closed. And we weren't disturbed by lights once we pulled the curtains. The bathroom was also very clean and the heated marble floors were pretty cool too. There was sufficient closet space for two folks, a small sitting area in front of the window, and a desk for writing. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION - The hotel is in a residential/commerical area of the city with shops on the lower levels of buildings and apartments on the upper levels, which allows one to sense how real Parisians live. While the Blvd Raspail and the Blvd Saint Germain (very close by) are busy streets they are smaller than American streets and great for strolling. The Rue de Bac (behind the hotel) is more quiet and intimate. The Metro station directly opposite the hotel's front doors and the nearby bank machines are very very handy. The Shell station next door, which has offices above it and is not your typical American style gas station, is also very handy for bottled water, snacks, etc. Within walking distance, you will find wonderful restaurants, cafes, boulangeries, lots of boutiques (international and local designer labels), the Musee Maillol, the Musee Rodin, Hotel de Les Invalides and so many other sights. I should point out we felt very comfortable strolling through the neighborhood at 11:00 p.m. and midnight. As you can tell, I thought this hotel was great and would recommend it to anyone. Yes, it is a little pricey, but the comfortable rooms, very nice staff and great location made it very worth it.

Two points people mention are the subway running underneath and the sound of dripping water when someone flushes the toilets. On the matter of the subway, the higher you are the less you feel it. We were on the 5th floor and barely felt anything. Once I heard the sound of dripping I instantly realized it was the pipes readjusting (for lack of a better term), which often happens with European plumbing. The sound lasts only a minute or so and you really have to be listening to hear it.

We are a couple from New York, celebrating my wife's birthday. We spoke very little French, but were warmly welcomed by the staff at this charming hotel. The room was typically small, but cozy, with a mini-bar, modern design with hot shower and heated marble floor. The Metro was right at our door step, a most convient aspect, as it was our primary mode of transportation during our trip. We found charming restaurants in the area, especially Maxoff's on rue de Verneuil, just off rue de Bac. We are planning our return visit to this hotel as we very pleased and treated very well by all. Au revoir.

Just returned from a four night stay at the K & K Hotel Cayre. I selected this hotel based on the numerous favorable reviews and the location. We were not disappointed.

We arrived in the immaculate, modern lobby around 10:00 am, but were able to check right in. Matthieu was manning the front desk and was efficient and polite. Our request for a non-smoking room was honored and we were led to room 208, which was an interior view of a small garden courtyard. I was a little concerned about being right next to the service elevator but we never heard a peep from it. Like most rooms in Paris, this too was small, but quite adequate. We had a full closet with plenty of hangers, a small set of drawers in the closet with a small room safe on top of the drawers. The TV was on a stand that doubled as the mini-bar (a dorm style fridge) and a drawer containing a coffee maker and a supply of teas and coffees. The decor was sparse (one small, unique picture). The bed was a double and low to the ground, but comfortable. The overall feel was sort of a danish modern meets Asian style. The bathroom was very modern, with Grohe fixtures. GREAT shower water pressure! The half-door on the tub/shower was a little tricky to keep from splashing water out on the floor, but otherwise it was great. Speaking of the floors, yes, they are heated and look/feel like marble. A nice treat for the feet, to be sure!

Ok, as for the noise level we only had two issues. An adjacent building was doing some remodeling and jack-hammer work and you could hear it anywhere in the building, but it was only during the day and didn't start until around 9:00 am, so as long as you weren't trying to sleep during the day, it was no problem. As for the sounds of the metro running underground, we were on the 2nd floor (by American standards, the 3rd floor -- the ground floor is considered floor zero) and you could notice the sound on a regular basis, but it was a low steady rumble, and not bad at all. We sleep with ear plugs when we stay in hotels anyway, and were not bothered by the Metro at all. It's worth it just to have the metro so convenient and close by! Right out the front door! The Post Office is directly across the street as are several bank ATM's. A short walk gets you to a fine selection of cafe's and restaurants, including the oft recommended La Petite Chaise. We celebrated my wife's birthday there, and were very please with the meal and the service. The waiters were attentive, polite, understood our english and halting attempts at French, and never acted condscending.

We passed on the breakfast buffet, as it was not included in our room package and they were charging 22 euros per person. We opted for the Cafe St. Germain a few doors down. Yes, the Shell station next door is a great convenience for snacks and drinks. You can buy everything from wine/beer/liquor to TicTacs to Cheese there. Also close by is a great bakery, and the GO20 Supermarche (sort of like a small grocery store) just around the corner has a great selection of VERY reasonably priced wines. We also enjoyed a bike tour to Versailles on Fat Tire Bike tours -- an American owned/operated tour company that also does night tours.

We would definitely stay at Hotel Cayre again!
