“Location, location & noise”
Reviewed February 14, 2014

If location is everything, Left Bank had something. Clean rooms, reasonable price and some of the most inconsiderate staff you can imagine. Our stay at the left bank was accompined by a symphony of hammers, saws and banging in the room above us. When we asked the front desk, we were told that they were renovating the room above us and there was no accommodations they can make for us.
It's exactly what people dream of when vacationing in Paris, having to use earplugs to nap. If we would have known the hotel was going through renovations we certainly would have stayed somewhere else, because we pre payed for the room they didnt care. They had no reason to, they already took my money.
I don't want this review to be all negative because not all of the staff was horrible. The young lady working the front desk on Thursday was very nice as well as the cleaning staff that was more than accommodating around guests schedules. Some would consider the rooms to small, but at 6'4" everything is to small to me. Based on my traveling experiences in France, their room size is average and phenomally clean.
All in all I recommend not staying at this hotel and if you do don't pay in advance so you can leave as you please. They have a good enough location to know bad reviews won't hurt their business an if it does. They still likely won't care. Enjoy Paris and good luck.

Dear Mr Wooden ,

We have duly received your review and we apologize for not being up to your expectations .
We strive every day to provide a superior customer experience .
Indeed, the hotel has completed its full renovation and only 3 bathrooms (on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor) were not finished during your stay .
You were in room 504 on the 5th floor with a view of Notre Dame.
We understand your confusion and we apologize again for disturbing your nap.
The hotel was renovated to improve the quality , the service and the comfort .
We hope you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with exceptional service.
If we can provide any assistance, do not hesitate to contact us directly to the hotel.

Best regards .
Mrs Fanny Desquesnes .

A great place to go for a short break. The people, the fashions many cafe's ,bars and restaurants. easy to get about , Compact lots to see and do, easy walking.
Link from London via Eurostar, and Paris Metro, easy and convenient for short walk to the hotel.
Spoilt for choice for places to eat, London prices, best to buy wine by the bottle for value.
We will go again

Visited Paris for New Years and stayed at the Hotel Left Bank for 4 nights. What a great experience! The staff was extremely nice and helpful throughout the stay. Our group had two couples in two rooms, one on the second story and the other on the third. Rooms have a good amount of space and a lot of charm. Bathrooms have been updated recently and are excellent. Both rooms overlooked the street but there was not much noise, in warmer weather it would have been nice to open the windows and look out. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants nearby, just ask the hotel staff for their recommendation for the night. The area is fantastic to walk around and is pretty laid back. Notre Dame is within easy walking distance and depending on how much you feel like walking the Louvre is probably a 30ish minute stroll.

Room Tip: Older furnishings but lovely charm. Can't go wrong for the value.

Very solid 3.5 star hotel. Highly recommended for great location. Been to Paris 5 times in 2013, this my favorite location for the following reasons:
1) Half a block from the Metro station
2) Many choices of very good restaurants (La Mediterranee and Azabu), the Pub St Germain is also very good.
3) Starbucks, Theatre and ATM are all half a block away
4) Short walk to the Seine
I stayed in two rooms during my visit. The first room facing the street is smaller (2nd floor). The second room away from the street has a better view and is a slightly bigger room. WIFI connection was not consistent. AC works very well. Service from the front desk could be better. Breakfast was the typical continental breakfast with juice, coffee and a selection of pastries and cheese, not worth the price.
Getting to the airport (CDG) is very convenient by Metro then connecting to the train.

Room Tip: Book through tripadvisor to receive complementary breakfast.

There is a lovely traditional feel to this amazingly well situated Parisian hotel. The room are comfortable and elegant and the service relaxed and friendly. Only a few stops from Gare du Nord made this a perfect venue for what transpired to be a perfect birthday weekend. I would recommend it unreservedly.

We spent several nights prior to returning to Australia. Out of the four different hotels we stayed in during our few weeks in Paris, this was the most comfortable. The room was spacious, bathroom modern and clean. The housekeeper lady was absolutely lovely as was other staff generally. Loved that we could open the windows and let in fresh air. The air conditioner works for heating and cooling unlike other places we stayed. There is a mini bar as well as tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom toiletries were a nice quality. The only downside to this hotel is the walls are very thin so you can here people in other rooms fairly well - we were entertained by a gentleman having his daily bath and singing - luckily he was quite good. We were not on the street side of the hotel and could not hear any traffic noise at all even with the windows open. This hotel is close to many cafes, restaurants and shops where most people speak at least some English if not better English than us. We did a lot of walking around the Latin quarter without overly exerting ourselves.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the opposite side to the street if you want quiet

We were a family of 6 travelling from Australia to Paris for a 70th birthday on NYE
Accommodation in an apartment was impossible to find ..and a hotel was the only option. Not speaking French made the task difficult until we found the Left Bank Hotel in St Germain. My terrible Google French email was met with a friendly return email in English. That made the decision to book easy..and then they organised a night at the Moulin Rouge/ transport across town/ a night in a fantastic restaurant around the corner at a time when everything was "booked out" online. On our arrival in the still dark morning after a 24 hour flight we were greeted by a welcoming smile and an invitation to leave our luggage until our room was ready. With a boulangerie opposite serving hot chocolate and the yummiest croissants …this is the best location …it is surrounded by little bars/restaurants/boutiques and there is a small supermarket around the corner selling some incredible wines. We walked down to the Pont Neuf and left a padlock of remembrance and wandered all around the Latin Quarter until our room was ready. We all loved Paris because of the experiences we had at the Left Bank Hotel…champagne on NYE in the beautiful lobby rich with antiques
We squeezed 3 into each room and would have enjoyed it more than if there were only 2 but with nothing else available we had no choice. The rooms are small as are most rooms in Paris hotels but everything else more than compensates. Will definitely stay here again.
