“Excellent food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2013

We booked in advance by email & Thierry, le chef, was very helpful. We were a party of 5 - perhaps a bit big for this small & tightly packed restaurant, but that didn't matter because the food was excellent. Traditional dishes, blended with innovation & a good wine list. Well priced for the quality of the food. Helpful friendly service. I would definitely go again

“Amazing chef, food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

We have been dining at this restaurant since it first opened. We were told it is entering its fourth year - I lost count! The reservation process is super easy. The chef himself responds to your email request within 24 hours. What initially attracted us to this restaurant, on our first visit, before we tried the food, was that it is open on Sundays and the first booking is at 6:30 p.m. We usually have an early Monday morning flight back to the United States and it is nice to have an early dinner, so we can return to the hotel, pack and be well rested for our journey home.

As others have mentioned, it is IMPERATIVE that you arrive for your reservation on time. If you do not arrive within 15 minutes of your reservation time and there is a "walk-in" waiting, they will fill the table. It is only understandable with such a small restaurant. The street the restaurant is on is located directly behind Centre Georges Pompidou. Follow the signs and there is a Metro exit which will take you right to rue Geoffroy l'Angevin.

The restaurant is compact. You will sit very close to your neighbor, so if that does not appeal to you, this is not where you should dine. The kitchen is open and very small. From my vantage point, I could watch the chef prepare the meals. It was fascinating to see. The chef works with two other people, along with one totally bilingual server.

The daily offerings are presented on a blackboard. The server will explain every dish to you, then recommend a wine pairing. This time, my husband had a smoked duck appetizer and I had a baked chevre salad. For main courses, I had a cod and risotto dish - which was incredible and my husband had one of the chef's signature dishes - 7 hour baked lamb. It is so tender and delicious. For dessert, we shared a baked apple, which was much more than just a baked apple. The entire meal was phenomenal.

Considering the taste and quality of the food, this restaurant is a bargain. Our meal for two, including a bottle of very good wine, was 82 euro. We will definitely be back next time we are in Paris!

“Very good, tiny, don't be late”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

Well executed bistro food
Appropriate prices for quality of food
Intimate space

If you are late they will give your table away. No joke. This is because people on TA book too far ahead and forget, I was told.
Elbow to elbow with next table

Wines and food were strong but does not at top level compared to similar bistros.

“What a find!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2013

After trawling through TripAdvisor, trying to find restaurants which were open on Sunday, I happened across L'Ange 20 - a tiny little place hidden down a side road near the Pompidou.

The food, service and drinks were all absolutely excellent. Starters of foie gras and angelhair prawns were followed by duck and slow roasted lamb - all four were melt in the mouth delicious.

The chap running front of house was charm personified, even when turning away the countless couples hoping for a short-notice booking.

The only downside would be the lack of locals eating at the restaurant during our visit. They're missing a treat! Highly recommended.

“Fantastic restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2013

My partner and I were in Paris for 3 days. We didn't want to spend time traipsing round the city looking for a decently priced restaurant (most restaurants charge extortionate prices in the touristy areas e.g £18 for a burger etc).
We checked trip advisor and were impressed with the reviews for this place. We didn't have a reservation so we knew that by walking over that we ran the risk of there not being a table. Luckily we went at 18:15 and spoke to the lovely waiter who advised us that they were fully booked however, if there was a 'no show' we could have their table if we came back at 18:45.
We were so lucky that there was a no show!
The restaurant is tiny, which we loved! The waiter was so friendly and helpful with the menu and wine list. The food was outstanding! I had goats cheese to start and the braised beef for main, my partner had chicken gizzard salad and the braised beef. Both meals were absolutely delicious and the wine recommended by the waiter was a perfect accompaniment.
Should we ever return to Paris, we will be sure to reserve this place for dinner! (E30 for 3 courses - worth every cent and then some!)
