“Great location and wonderful staff”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

We had an exceptional time in Paris and it was in part due to Hotel Britannique. Their location couldn't be better. Walking distance to the Notre Dame and Louvre and the Metro and the train to the airport. We requested a balcony room and I'm glad we did. Paris is a wonderful place to have your morning coffee on the balcony.

However their extra efforts were most appreciated after our stay. We purchased a half-case of champagne while in Reims and the chateau said “we cannot ship it, but just take it to a post office.” So we brought it with us to Paris. We enjoyed ourselves so much we saved our ‘postcards and mailings’ until the last day. Unfortunately the post office was closed for a holiday this day and we were stuck without options.

This where they seized the opportunity to give exceptional service. Their staff offered to take it to the post office the following day in our absence, which we abashedly accepted. However, upon arriving home we learned that it is not possible to ship the bottles to the USA (nor to another location in the EU). Their staff provided several alternatives and we explored many options, all of which were not possible. Finally I was able to have a friend of a friend come and pick the bottles from the hotel and resolve the issue.

Their staff never complained and was never rude during this lengthy process. They showed the utmost class in handling the situation, which was caused in no part by them. I appreciate their efforts immensely. I thank them so much for all they did and we will surely stay with Hotel Britannique on our next visit (and we’ll ask much less of them this time).

This was a perfect hotel for our mother & daughter trip to Paris. It was comfy, cozy and charming. The staff was helpful and the hotel was in a great central location. The room was a bit small but who cares? The justifiably famous Berthillion ice cream is served at "Zimmerman" cafe across the street. Do not miss out on this treat. Order the salted caramel and you will have the standard-bearer for ice cream for the rest of your life. Fresh croissants and other delicious little bites at a bakery around the corner and down the block from the hotel. Loved every minute of our stay.

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. We decided to stay here for two weeks while on our honeymoon in Paris after reading all the other wonderful reviews for this hotel. The location is fantastic. We were close to a ton of great places, the river, the metro and we ended up being able to walk almost everywhere. The front desk staff was great and so helpful when we needed tips on restaurants and local places. The morning breakfast was great, although, there is also a cute bakery around the corner with delicious breakfast pastries. We also had the romantic package so on arrival we had a three fresh flower bouquets in our room, delicious chocolates, champagne, fresh fruit, a cute postcard from the hotel, and our bed had rose petals. It was a great start to the trip. Our room also had a balcony which was lovely and happen to have just the slightest view of the tip of the Eiffel Tower. :)

Overall, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: We stayed on the fifth floor and our room had a balcony, however, not all rooms do.

This was an outstanding hotel across the board. Clean, quiet, friendly professional staff, awesome location near the Chatelet Metro, great breakfast buffet, fast free Wifi, and a fair price for all of the above. We stayed 4 nights in 2 rooms, with breakfast worked out to be about 1000euro per room.

Only negative was that there was a nightclub or outdoor band playing down the street that played until 10pm weekdays and about midnight on the weekends. It reverberated the windows on
the rooms on the Seine river side. No big deal, we should have been out partying. Paris really comes alive around 10pm.

Other than that, still 5+ stars!

I highly recommend this hotel. I stayed for 3 days in July for approximately $160 a night when many others were charging $200+. I found the rate only on the hotel's website under one of their promotions,

The hotel is one block from the Seine and located right above a few entrances to the central Metro station Chatelet. The rooms are small like most Paris hotels, but adequate, Who goes to Paris to sit in your hotel room anyway? The bed was comfortable. The A/C works well and the windows have blackout shades. It also had a small, clean bathroom with a stand-up shower.

The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. My room was 24, which was a double on the front of the hotel. I believe rooms 22 and 23 and all rooms in that tier (12, 13, 32, 33, etc,) on every floor have small balconies.

Tripadvisor reviews steered me to this hotel, so thank you to all the previous reviewers!

Stayed in this charming hotel for 6 days in early June. Staff was very helpful, room was lovely and comfortable and the location couldn't be better. The common room was very relaxing and quiet and the breakfasts were great. Especially loved the comfy terry bathrobe!

3 lovely nights in this hotel in early July. Staff was very accommodating, our room (a suite with a double bed and a double pull out couch) was great for our family of 4, and the closet area allowed us adequate space to unpack so we weren't tripping over our bags. Breakfast in the hotel each morning was a good deal since the kids could eat free of charge. Very easy access to metro (chatelet-les halles and RER), pont neuf, Notre Dame, the Tuileries and Louvre. While I think this part of Paris is not where I would choose to stay next time (too hustle bustle for me), it was a lovely and fairly affordable choice in the 1ere arrondissement.
