VEry pretty hotel, rooms & bathroom (shower!!) are 'petite':-) Also the bed is a bit small (a bigger one wouldn't fit in :-).
Breakfast is worth the money. Staff is very friendly. Location is very very good!

It was the glowing reviews that lead me to book this for my stay in Paris. I do agree the location can't be beat. It's excellent. The hotel is very clean, but the rooms are TINY. The closet can only accommodate 5 hangers total, which would be fine for one person, but not two! It was winter, and with the radiator running it was often too hot in the room (there's virtually no air circulation in the tiny space), so my solution was to open the window. That was fine for a while, but it's very very noisy so when I was ready to go to sleep I had to close it. The staff was pleasant, but not extremely helpful and I agree with the other reviewer who said they didn't have much to offer in the way of recommendations. I was chastised for not realizing that I am supposed to leave my room key at the front desk every time I leave the hotel. I was told that is the European way. Well, perhaps it is in Paris, but not in my experiences in the UK and Italy.

The decor is a little tired, but is pleasant.

In any case, location, location, location.

When you are in Paris, and you are not a millionaire, all you want is a comfortable place to stay, which is close to places, nice rooms and fair prices. Well, this is exactly what Hotel Britanique is all about.

The location is a winner! between Hotel De Ville to the Louvre, 100 meters from rue de rivoli from one side, and the siene from the other, and on a quiet inner street so you can get a good night sleep. The rooms are bigger than the usual tiny known hotel rooms of Paris. The prices are fair, great value for money. They serve great and rich breakfast, for a comfortable price (14 euros per person), and the staff is very nice and friendly.

We stayed there twice in the past year, and we enjoyed it both times.

Bon Voyage!

Room Tip: Best location and value for money

With such great reviews and photos, I was expecting better. First, the front desk staff was never more than barely helpful. They would hand you a map and show you where you were and where you wanted to go, but if you didn't already know and were looking for suggestions, they had nothing. The elevator was crazy, literally only fit two people, touching. The room was also very tiny. It was clean, and the photos are technically accurate, but it just had tired decor and a musty scent. The fruit upon arrival was nice, but didn't make up for the rest. The location is great, but I wouldn't stay here again. For the price and from the reviews, I was expecting a somewhat chic boutique hotel. It's really more of a budget hotel, it will do if you're not planning to be in the room long, but definitely not a place you'll be dying to go back to.

This hotel is ideally located for taking in many of the popular Paris sites. Ile de la Cite and Notre Dame are just a couple of blocks away and the Louvre is a 10 minute walk. The hotel is on a lovely, quiet block lined by trees. The room was quite small but comfortable. We had room 52 which is a Classic Double with a queen bed, two windows, and a small balcony from which we could see the top 1/4 of the Eiffel Tower. Very happy with it! The one elevator is extremely small which might present a problem in the busy summer months but worked fine for us. There are some wonderful restaurants in the area. We highly recommend Le Reminet and Le Petit Machon. Au Vieux Comptoir, just around the corner, also looked good and was always busy. There is a wonderful pastry shop just around the corner on days you want a quick coffee and danish instead of the breakfast offered at the hotel. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: If you want a balcony and (slight) view of the Eiffel Tower, ask for a high level room on the street...

This was our second or third visit. We return because it is a nice little hotel in a fantastic location right by Chatelet so you can hop on the metro from Eurostar and be there - in the centre but fairly quiet - in minutes.

And the staff are sweet and helpful.

They needed to be this time as we were assigned a rather small garret room with sloping beige walls. I had a nap after we arrived, jumped out of bed afterwards and thwack! the walls attacked my right temple, with no provocation.

HUGE lump almost immediately and massive bad temper just after - I really don't expect that to happen on holiday and I felt ill and sick - not a good start to a four night break.

Still, the staff were very sweet and concerned and gave us a room with straight, unaggressive walls on the fourth floor straight away. And the rest of the trip was fine (yes, thanks for asking, the lump has receded though it is still tender) If I were the management, I would have inquired about my health or acknowledged the injury somehow - but no-one did.

Actually I don't think room 61 is fit for purpose - it's just not big enough to be a double room given the protruding walls.

Apart from that, it's a lovely place. But you have been warned!

Room Tip: Just don't accept the 6th floor - or at least not without checking the rooms first.

Dear Madam,

We would like to thank you for being a faithful customer to our hotel. We are very sorry for the incident with the wall in your room and that you did not enjoy the room 61, as it is highly sought after for its design and its view. We are happy to know that you were able to enjoy the rest of your stay in the other room, and that you found the staff helpful and friendly.
The management has just learned about and is very sorry for the incident with bumping your head in room 61, as the information was not transferred from the reception desk. We are sorry for this lapse in transferring the message and hope that we can better satisfy your needs during your next trip in our hotel.
Very best wishes

Located behind the Louvre and near the Seine, it is within walking distance of most of the main attractions in central Paris. Rooms are small like the average room of this price in Paris, but more nicely furnished than the average. Staff are friendly and helpful.
