I had eagerly awaited our stay for a year. Although the front of the hotel was covered in scaffolding, we still enjoyed our time. The junior suite was great plenty of room separate toilet from the bathroom. It was great to have lounge in our room to sit on after sightseeing. We did not enjoy the breakfast hot items were cold and choices limited to cheese, meats, cereal and sweet bread. There are many bakeries and restaurants on your doorstep. Location cannot be faulted!!!! The staff were friendly. Would absolutely return next time we visit Paris.

We stayed 3 nights the end of Sept. '12. The lobby is cozy, elevator is tiny. The breakfast buffet is very good, but should be included in price of room and/or not so expensive. The rooms are very small, even though we paid extra for a deluxe double. The location could not be better. On a quiet side street just half a block from the Sienne. Even better is the Metro stop just across the street that is a major hub so you can go anywhere from there. All in all we would stay there again.

This was my 4th trip to Paris in 6 years (yah!) & each time I've stayed in a different hotel/area. THIS is it!! Won't go anywhere else in future!! Thankyou fellow TA reviewers for helping me find this wonderful hotel!
Perfect location!!!! One street back from the Seine, walk to Louvre & Notre Dame & the Latin Quarter, lots of shops, cafes & restaurants & theatre in surrounding streets, yet Victoria Ave (this end) is very quiet. Easy access to the metro just around the corner plus lots of buses in the area (1 street or so away). Supermarket a couple of streets away. Hotel de Ville (town hall) just down the road. Soooo much in this area (just on the border of the 1st & 4th arr.)
Our room was delightful!! Yes, it is smallish but we had 2 large suitcases as well as carry-ons & never felt cramped. Just unpacked what we needed for the week & hung in closets then left bags standing out of our way.
Room had a desk with chair & a oversized chair (possibly a single foldout sofa bed); tea & coffee making facilities; bottled water; comfy bed & free wifi that worked well. Bathroom was little but there was enough space for our toiletries bags above the vanity. Never felt cramped while using bathroom, so the size wasn't a problem. From other photos I've seen, I think maybe the bathrooms do vary a bit. There were robes & slippers in the bathroom. The bedroom windows (2 sets) opened & had good block out blinds for a restful sleep.
We booked a "classic king" room with the Romance Package (an extra E80). Worth the money just for the 'wow' factor upon entering!!! The Moet champagne was only a 375ml bottle but enough....a full bottle is too much for the two of us!! The chocolates were delicious! Roses & rose petals were everywhere....even in the bathroom.....so cute! It was our wedding anniversary & they left a card with our names on the delicious fresh fruit tray....very thoughtful.
We had originally requested a room overlooking Victoria Ave but due to renovations being done on the front of the hotel they moved us to a courtyard room. We were pleased that as soon as the hotel opted to undertake renovations, they emailed us to notify & giving us the opportunity to find alternative accommodation. We could have stayed in one of the front rooms & received a discount, but we took the courtyard room so we could open the windows if we wish (& we did).
Staff were friendly & helpful. We attempted to speak French (this always helps) but there was always someone who spoke English on the front desk. They greeted us every time we walk by, offered advice if asked & even were generous enough to post a (pre paid) package for us when we ran out of time to get to the post office. Thank you!!! That was very kind.
We ate out every morning so I can't comment on the hotel breakfasts. There is a beautiful sitting room at the front of the hotel for guests to use. It is charming & full of antiques. They have a laptop connected to their printer so we were able to print our boarding passes.
The lift is small....as with so many old buildings in Paris. This isn't a problem. So what if we had to make two trips up to the room with our luggage (only 1 person with bags will fit). The rest of the time it is fine. I think we only shared the lift with other guests twice during our week there, so a small lift isn't an issue.
Everything is clean & fresh looking in this old world hotel. We loved it!! This hotel is so full of charm & character that I can't wait to return!! And the location is perfect for Paris!! Thank goodnes I have found Hotel Britannique :-)

Room Tip: When renovations are finished chose a high level room overlooking Victoria Ave

Stayed here in Sept with our 92 year old Mum. The staff could not have been more helpful. They booked trips for us and told us great places to eat. Spotless and cosy. Brekkie good value. The location to everything is great. Would definitely stay her on our next trip to Paris.

My Husband and I stayed here for 7 nights in July of 2012 and were very, very happy with our choice! The hotel is in the perfect location...minutes to the Chatelet Metro Station, Ile de la Cite, Notre Dame and the Seine. From the Chatelet Metro Station, you can get to almost everything in paris either directly, or with 1 stop. It was great! It is about a 5-10 minute walk to the Lourve as well. There is tons of shopping near by, and plenty of restaraunts and cafes. There is a bar right across the street that is very fun - La Fin du Monde, and a Patisserie right around the corner that has to die forCroissants and Pan Au Chocolat

The hotel itself is very cute. There is a small lobby, breakfast room and lounge on the first floor. We were in Room 24 facing the street. The windows were tall and both opened like french doors, and there was a small hanging flower basket outside, it was very nice to wake up to. The rooms are small, but well appointed and had a nice amount of storage space. There is a welcome basket with Fruit and Bottled Water, which was much appreciated after our 9 hour flight. There were plates, wine glasses, and utensils provided in the room, which was great for the late night snacks of Cheese, Crackers and Wine we enjoyed almost every day. The bathroom was a pretty nice size, the shower was smaller then we were used to, but we were able to manage just fine. The only small complaint we had was that the walls are very thin...in the morning, we would sometimes be woken up by the cleaning crew. But, this was really not THAT big a deal because it was almost 11am when that happened.

The Staff was fantastic. They all spoke very good English and were able to recommend a lot of neat cafes that were close by. When you leave for the day, you leave your room key with the front desk person so the cleaning staff knows when you are gone and to clean your room. It was nice to not have to worry about having your key lost when you were out for the day. The outside doors do lock starting at midnight, so if you arrive back late, you will have to ring the doorbell. We never had an issue with getting in. There is always someone manning the front desk.

Overall, I would highly recommend Hotel Britannique. My Husband and I will definitely be staying here on our return trip to Paris, hopefully in 2013!

We stayed at Hotel Britannique for 3 nights in mid September 2012. It was great. There was construction happening to facade of building. They did notify me by email, and offered a discount if we wanted to stay. We decided to stay and construction did not bother us at all other than not being able to see facade of hotel, which I thought was nice from photos, but they gave us 10% off room. We had a courtyard room to stay away from scaffolding, but I would highly recommend renting Avenue side room.

The rooms are small, but intimate and everything is very nice within. Showers are small, but normal for European hotels. The walls were thin, and you could hear some noise from outside your room, but did not bother us. Not much room to move around, but we didn't spend too much time in room. The lounge area was small, but very neat with red and gold everywhere, and interesting trinkets spread about. Very good for relaxing. They have a laptop you can use with internet access. (French keyboards are strange, keys in different places? who knew!?). Breakfast was great. We got the romance package where they sprinkle rose petals around your room, give you small 375ml bottle of champagne and some chocolates. Probably not worth it for - I think $99 USD? but it was cool for my wife to enter into that.

The service was great here. We had many questions as we didn't speak French and this was our first time in Paris. They were extremely helpful. Young gentleman gave us our best restaurant recommendation while in Paris. Le Grizzli. This restaurant is right around the corner and used to have dancing bears! No more unfortunately, but we spent about 4 hours at this restaurant wining and dining out front. Great place, and many thanks to dude for recommending it!

Hotel is so close to Notre Dame and Louvre and Metro stops. The location is the best part of this Hotel. I think it was best bang for my buck I could find and it did not disappoint. You must visit the bar across the street. It's very cool, especially if you're into comics, video games and the like. "Le Dernier Bar Avant La Fin Du Monde" (last bar before the end of the world, named after Douglas Adams's book). Friendly sing-alongs, books, laptops and beer! Wait staff was in costume one night we popped in, and video games in the urinals!

Room Tip: Get an Avenue Victoria side room! There is no "real" courtyard view.

My wife and I spent several days in August with our family and then came back to meet some friends here. Great little quaint hotel in a very convenient location. It is an intimate setting with very friendly and attentive staff. The breakfast is great but I would have to say the that listening repetitively to the lesser known tracks from the Music for the Masses Depeche Mode album playing very subtly in the background got on my nerves. I think Im the only one that noticed this and this certainly did not detract from our stay one bit. We are planning on Paris again and would definitely stay here as our hotel.
