We enjoyed our stay at Derby Eiffel in May. We had a room in 4th floor, facing the street, and that wonderful view of Eiffel tower. Room was cleaned often, bed was comfortable, shower worked really well with water pressure. Room was small, but that did not bother us at all, size was just perfect for 2 people. Lift was working and personnel was really helpful, also in english! Very nice since I have not used my french in 15 years :) I consider this hotel a great value of it's price. Location is excellent, we walked to Eiffel in 10-15 minutes (depends which way you go), metro is only 2 blocks away, and grocery store (open quite late) too, if you wish to have some snacks!

Room Tip: best rooms are on street side, top floors (if you want a nice view, view is to the side, but that is...

Stayed there coz it was reasonable, and near the Eiffel Tower. We requested a room on the top floors because reviews had said that you would have a view of the Eiffel Tower. We had a room on the 6th floor, which was tiny - but it had the view!!!! Breakfast was good, plenty of choice and helpful staff. we would stay here again but would want a bigger room next time. Apart from that this hotel was in a great spot and literally a two minute walk from the underground. There were also a few grocery and wine shops close buy so no need to eat out all the time. Great base from which to explore Paris.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floors for a view of the Eiffel Tower!!!!

Hotel Derby Eiffel

I have been to Paris over 30 times and have stayed in a wide variety of hotels. This is about the second worst. What can I say? This hotel should not be booked. At best it is a two star, despite its three star rating.

On arrival, there was a pile of dirty linens at our door. The room had an odor of sewer, the bed spreads looked soiled, there wasn't room for two suitcases. We requested and were given another room. This one was slightly larger and at first did not have the odor. It did, however, appear within a few hours. If you kept the fan in the bathroom on, it kept it at bay.

The AC is actually a very large free standing unit in one corner of the room with a long extension cord that must be stretched across the only open walkway in the room. There is a port hole cut in the actual window and a portable vent type thing to attach to the unit to the port hole if you want to move the unit to the window for proper ventilation. This is probably the same unit to heat the room in the winter.

The hall way carpets are beyond worn and totally stained. In the room, it appears that the carpet was pulled up and replaced with an artificial wood flooring. The twin beds slid on this floor every time you sat or laid on them. The door and base boards we're damaged and in disrepair.

The bathroom was very small, but functional with a bath tub and shower. The lighted make up mirror didn't light up and was positioned on the wall for someone about 6 feet tall.

The room lighting was below par. There was a desk, one chair, and a stool. The safe was on the floor of the wardrobe and you had to crawl on your hands and knees to use it.

Our room did have a view of the Tower, if you opened the window, leaned out and looked to the right. But it was a view and better than not having one at all.

The elevator is typical French...small and old, but working. It barely held two adults and two suitcases, or four adults snugly. The desk clerks (and there were many over the course of our stay) were moderately friendly and spoke English. The person in the breakfast room, less so on all counts. Basically the entire hotel can be described as worn, tired, and in great need of renovations.

The location is convenient to a Metro stop, many restaurants, and within walking distance to the Tower (if you like to walk). If you are looking only for a place to sleep after a day of sight seeing, this might be considered ok. But only if all you want to do is sleep. The room is not good for anything else.

I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. If you want a Derby hotel, I suggest you take a look at the Derby Alma, not that far from Derby Eiffel. There isn't a view of the Tower, but the rooms and lobby are much nicer, but hurry, they close for complete renovation is June, 2012.

Room Tip: Street side rooms have the Tower "view", but are noisy with the window open (see comments...

Great location. Small room but who cares you are in Paris and only there to sleep. Good cheap food near by on Rue Cler St. I would stay her again.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower. Top floor is quieter.

This hotel is a great little find. The location is excellent and couldnt ask for more for the price. Rooms were tidy and cleaned everyday. Really couldnt ask for more. Recommend 100%, restaurants were all very close by along with supermarkets, chemists, patisseries, all within 5 minutes walking distance.

Checkin was quick and easy, the view was great, room was small but comfy, shower was great, wifi was strong, good security, and the desk clerks really knew good English and had lots of great tips on local attractions and restaraunts.

Location was very central, a walk to many of the sites and great restaraunts, and easy access to the train for a quick ride anywhere else.

If you tend to spend a lot of time in your room or the lobby, there are probably better choices. But for the price we paid we were very pleased to use this as our base of operations.

Room Tip: they have great views, ask for one
