Found this hotel via Eurostar, thought the location looked good. Thought that for the price we would get the traditional pokey little Paris room. Just goes to show how wrong you can be. Room was really good size with comfy double bed, two wardrobes, chairs, nice furnishings, tea & coffeee making facilities and room safe ( 50 Euro returnable key deposit). The bathroom was small, but contained all you need, toiletries, topped up every day, and the softest towels we've ever come across. Well stocked breakfast room in the basement, open till 11am, great for all of us who like to 'do' Paris by night. Staff vey helpful. Located on a very quiet one way street, so no traffic noise, and minutes from Madeleine and St Lazaire ( great for that trip to Versailles, 8 euros return & 30 mins) and only 6.40 euros from Gare Du Nord (traffic dependent of course) All in all a great find, will certainly return.
Tried to post some pics, but the site keeps falling over!!!!!

We found this hotel after a long search on the internet in an attempt to find an hotel that does not take dogs. Not that I have anything against dogs (provided their owners are properly trained), it’s just that I can sometimes have an allergic reaction to certain doggy hairs and smells. It is surprising just how many hotels allow dogs into their rooms nowadays.

When we arrived, the upgraded room which we had booked was not available and we were moved into a standard room for one night. (Staff were most apologetic and seemed suitably embarrassed by this). The standard room was small and to the back of the hotel. However, my understanding is that most Paris hotel rooms are the size of broom cupboards and this was bigger than one of those. It was most comfortable and clean and perfectly adequate for a short stay – eg less than one week. The perfectly formed bathroom was tiny. We could fit in okay (just) but it may be bit of a squeeze for Very Large People.

We were moved into our booked room on our second day- this time fronting onto the narrow street. This room was well worth the extra money. From the large exceedingly comfortable bed to the large bathroom with walk in shower – it was all perfect. There was adequate storage space. Air conditioning worked well in both rooms.

The excellent self service breakfast was typically continental and more than adequate. Breakfast starts at 7am and finishes at a civilised 11am. The character breakfast room is in the old cellar and there are photos posted in this forum.

Reception staff were friendly, efficient and spoke good English. They did say that they could keep luggage for guests arriving early before the room is ready or leaving Paris late after the check out deadline.

Location could not be better. The hotel is in a very quiet side street but only a couple of hundred meters from Place de la Concorde via Place Madeleine and from there, you have the bridge across to the ‘left’ side of the Seine, to the left you have the park leading along to the Louvre and to the right is the start of the Champs-Elysees. Within 3K in one direction is the Eiffel Tower, and the same distance in the opposite direction is the Bastille. 3K is usually an easy 40 minute stroll but the sites within short detours of each of the walks will take weeks to get around. We purchased a book of Metro tickets at St Pancras but apart from the trip to and from Garde de Norde, they were not used.

There are restaurants and bars near the hotel although neither as many nor the choice that you will get in the area around the lively, edgy, Pompidou Centre and the nearby Marais quarter (THE area to go shopping on Sundays) or other parts of Paris. The restaurant next door, Madeleine C, is excellent but more upmarket but the fixed price menu dinner deals (available weekdays but get there by 7pm) represents absolutely superb value for money considering the high standard of the food.

I have awarded this hotel 4 stars - very good - although I may be a little harsh. In so many respects it is excellent. This lovely clean and comfortable little hotel in a quiet side street was completely refurbished to a very high standard last year and the style of decoration is just about perfect. It is a shame that the windows were not double glazed and extra sound proofing added to the partition walls between the rooms during the refurbishment. This hotel is most definitely NOT noisy but what very little noise there is from the narrow street gets bounced around the tall buildings and even with the (brilliant) electronic controlled blinds down, the sound still carried. This was not a problem for us, and our neighbours in the adjoining rooms were quiet and civilised which helped.

Overall, I have no problem recommending this hotel and will certainly be back should we return to Paris. There are so many things to see and do in this fantastic city. And it it so easy to get to.

Paris itself is very different to the dirty smelly arrogant Paris I last visited 43 years ago. Paris has, at long last, learned how to display its many ample charms and display them it does – VERY impressive, although I have some reservations about the Louvre and I will post a separate review on this art gallery. Paris is now one of those cities that is a MUST to visit. Having said that, it does help to speak a little French and, with the large numbers of rough sleepers, it can still be smelly in some places. Overall, Paris is as safe as any other major city in Europe but there are con artists on the streets (the dropped ‘gold’ ring con and variations of the 3 card trick are the most common methods to extract 20 Euro notes from tourists) and pickpockets and thieves are around. It pays to be forewarned – as we were thanks to Trip Advisor – and, as in all major town and cities, one must take care at all times.

Just got back from a long weekend and this little gem was perfect in every way. Location is amazing, we walked EVERYWHERE from here. Lots of places to eat nearby and the bar prices are extremely reasonable, breakfast brilliant and the rooms a very decent size for Paris and very clean/comfortable with everything you could need. I saw someone commented about the view from the window being an office, but you can't expect the Eiffel tower for the price of this hotel and that just meant that it was very quiet! A really lovely side street but close to everything.
We ate at the first sushi place you come to out of the hotel and would recommend it, but go easy on ordering as they are bigger servings than in UK! We would also recommend cafe Madeleine for a cheap and cheerful dinner, although don't be pressured into ordering cocktails/desserts/liquor coffees as these are extortionate!
All of the staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful with very good English and patient with our very bad French! We also decided to book the river cruise dinner (9PM) that there are leaflets for in the foyer. I can't recommend this enough, it was amazing.
Absolutely NOTHING wrong with this hotel and for the price we paid we couldn't believe how nice it was. If we or anyone we know every visits Paris again, it will be to stay here.

Room Tip: We were on 3rd floor and had no issues, never waited long for the lift!

We went to Paris in May 2012 for our 2nd Honeymoon. We decided to stay at this hotel based on the location and the reviews on this site. This is a great hotel, located close to the metro Madeleine, as well as the fashion malls Printemps, Les Galleries Lafayette, and other well known fancy fashion stores. It is also close to all the tourist attractions, such as the Tuillerie and the Louvre.

The hotel room was vey clean, and spacious enough for two adult... A bit bigger than I expected for Paris hotel. The bathroom was also quite nice and modern. The continental breakfast was very good, with fresh pastries and bread, as well as delicious slices of ham and cheese... Typically French. As for the staff, they were very curtious and helpful during our stay.

Will definitely go back if we are ever back in Paris.

This small, cozy hotel met all of our needs: the bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet when the window was closed, there was a tub, it was neat, clean and attractive. It was in a wonderful area of Paris, you can walk to the Louvre and Orsay Museums with many wonderful restaurants and shops along the way. The only small criticism; there was black, yucchy stuff in the sink holes, most would not see this but unfortunately I did. Still, we would definitely stay there again. All of the clerks were friendly and could speak enough English to communicate with us. The place was in great shape and the free breakfast was fantastic!

Room Tip: We had a third floor room with a nice view of the street. The windows opened for fresh air and ther...

Great location and quiet! The price point was fantastic for location and what you get. Breakfast was fantastic with great selection of breads, cheese, meats, eggs, fruit & yogurt. Front desk is friendly and helpful. The room is bit small, but suffice for the purpose of sleeping. Room and bathroom was clean and beds were good too. This place was my last stop from my 1 month long France trip before I go back home to Canada. It was perfect! It was very close to Madeleine area where all the high-end restaurants and shops. I treated myself to La Maison de la Truffe, OMG! So good!!! Close to shopping to pick up last minute stuff before I went home. I took a taxi to airport (CDG) from here, cost approx. $70 euros. There is better way going to CDG, however, I had too many bags to juggle with (2 luggage + carry on).

I think this place is great for a business hotel or a great place to settle in to take in sights and sounds. Great place to end my trip!!

Had a wonderful stay at the Best Western Folkstone June 2012. We had
originally booked a hotel about 1-2 blocks away which was far below
expectations, so we walked around the area and investigated
alternative accommodations when we found the BW Hotel Folkestone Opera.

The front desk clerk Virginia was extremely helpful, pleasant, and
went out of her way to make sure we had a nice room. She managed to
arrange it so that we had same room for our entire stay despite last
minute booking. Most amazingly, the room here was 140E LESS than the
other hotel (we paid approx 200 euro/ night for 6 nights), but
significantly nicer and more upscale!

HOTEL:
This hotel resembles a local boutique hotel, and I am guessing it was
perhaps bought up by Best Western. It far exceeded my expectations for
a 3 star, European hotel in Paris in this price range. It is located
in the 8th district, just a block away from La Madeline. It is a
primarily a shopping district and also has numerous cafes, markets,
pharmacies, and just about anything you could need.

The hotel advertises “free wi-fi” and this is indeed the case. Unlike
our other hotel that had very slow access and only 15 min timed out
access, I used my i-pad everyday and had a very fast connection. Also,
there is a computer in the lobby for guests to use with a printer
attached for printing boarding passes, but be warned, it is a “French
keyboard” so none of the letters were where I expected them to be!

ROOM:
The room was beautiful, very neat, very clean, and nicely furnished
and decorated. It was larger than expected with a couch and seating
area. (see pics). There were lots of little extras, a small box of
chocolates welcoming us to the hotel, a separate night light above
each bed, mirrored walls for extra vanity space, Flat screen TV that
could be turned to view in bed or in seating area, multiple channels
on the TV that even included BBC. Also, there was a fairly large safe
in room to use which was large enough to hold wallets, cameras, i-pad,
etc. (You must leave a key deposit of 50E deposit that you get back
when key is returned). Also, the bathroom was pristine (see pics).

BREAKFAST:
Breakfast was very nice with full continental spread (mini pastries,
hard boiled eggs, cheeses, breads, baguettes, yogurts, juices, and even
some home-made treats each day (custards, cake/tarts). Everyone was
always quick to offer assistance, and eager to make our meal and stay
a pleasant one.

CONS:
The only caveat to this glowing review, was that our room was on the
1st floor and being a busy city, the garbage truck came around at
about 6:30 every morning making a racket (admittedly – this is out
Best Western’s control). So, if you want peace and quiet early am, you
may want to opt for a room that is not right on the street or one that
is higher up (there are 7 floors).
Otherwise, I recommend staying here without any reservations!

Bonjour De Paris, thank you so much to have chosen us among all the hotels of the district. We are very happy that you spent a pleasant time with us.
As for the passage of the garbage men, we ask you to excuse us, but regrettably we cannot change them schedules.
For your next trip, we'll propose you another floor, higher. To minimize the embarrassment.
Have a beautiful day.
