Slightly Hidden on the Street, but Beautiful Inside

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Nov 24, 2014
We stayed for four days and were very please with the hotel. Would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to Paris for business or pleasure.

The room was very comfortable, nice beds, nice bathroom with tub and separate walk-in shower.

The only downside was that there didn't seem to be a regular restaurant open for dinner in the hotel. We asked about it and they pointed us up to an open lobby - style restaurant that seemed to be more for deserts and coffee than a full dinner. The other option was under a tent out on the sidewalk that closed when it was raining. The good news was that the location was so amazing that there were many, many restaurants up and down the street where you can get all kinds of dinners.

The regular restaurant they did have was open for breakfast only and had a nice spread for breakfast, complete with smoked salmon, eggs, fruit and many other offerings.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and all spoke English - no language concerns.

They had in-room safes that were great for leaving iPads or whatever you bring with you that you don't want to haul everywhere you go.

It was pretty expensive - you really pay for the location. Ate dinner by the Eiffel Tower one night and walked back to the hotel - a little distance, but definitely a nice walk back.

We will definitely come back to this hotel.

It was amazing stay thanks to Marriott well trained staff. The bathroom had water facility for the travellers from middle east . The location of the hotel is one of the stunning breathtaking location in the heart of the famous streets in Paris (champs Elysees) will never be able to chose another hotel if I am back to paris I will book it again♡

Our first visit to Paris and France could not have found a better location to see all of Paris. The friendly staff was a blessing and the Buffet Breakfast was outstanding. All that Marriott is supposed to be is at this hotel.

Room tip: room 111 overlooked the lobby and was quiet and easy up and down with the staircase just outside our door.

Aside from the location this hotel was a sigh of disappointment. Within walking distance is the metro station, which we took all across Paris - very helpful. Unfortunately, we fended for ourselves as we found the concierge cold and unwilling to help (even though he had clefs d'or keys). The housekeeping staff did not clean the room to detail, and we had to ask for towels to be replenished. The major downfall is that you have to PAY for wifi in the rooms though it is free in the lobby - go figure. I spend a lot of time in five star hotels and I would consider this property far from one. Some of the staff were very polite & helpful and deserve an applause, but the hotel's entirety falls severely short of a good time. I would not return.

Decided to stay for the location and the location is the only reason I would maybe recommend it. very close to arc, blvd haussmann, eiffel tower, etc. Franklin D Roosevelt stop on the metro is walking distance (we took metro everywhere, even all the way to palace of versailles). Other than that, I was unimpressed. Concierge staff I found to be sadly unhelpful & cold, even with their clefs d'or keys - a first for me. The housekeeping service seemed to clean around our belongings as opposed to setting them in order. Once we were in the room & the attendant opened the door and insisted she changed the bed sheets, asked us to get off the bed and waited until we did so (all in french)....not the best feeling. I was hopeful as marriott's have been good to us in the past but I have to be honest in saying I feel they fell short this time. I would not return. There is also free wifi in the lobby (for public use) but guests have to PAY for in room connection (about 16 euro for a day).

I'm a very lenient guest that usually lets things slide unless it's something of major concern. That is probably why I didn't make any calls to the front desk on this occasion but there were certainly issues that made me have my doubts. Like everyone else mentions the location is fantastic but in my opinion not because of the shopping, simply because you are about a block away from the metro station and can be anywhere in paris within minutes.

I've stayed in many 5 star establishments prior to this, even had our wedding reception at one, and this is definitely not one of them. This isn't by any means a reflection of the staff who were always curteous, this is just on the hotel itself. First of all we arrived at our room and there were wrappers and chestnuts from street vendors in a few drawers that were left behind from previous guests. Like other posters mention no tea kettle in room and I'm not sure if there was work being done at night but it was quite noisy. Very noisy, actually. Didn't have a go at the breakfast buffet because based on other reviews I figured why bother.

My absolute main gripe, however, is how can a "5 star" rated hotel have such horrific wifi service that one has to pay extra for? I literally could not get any work done. Tripadvisor should really update their info on this place to reflect that it is only free wifi in the lobby area, not rooms. It seems like those of us that do have subpar thoughts on this place all complain about similar things (internet, noise, housekeeping) but they just don't seem to get resolved so just be aware of this beforehand. You definitely won't have a bad experience at this place, but it won't be great either. Simply average.

Dear Mais77,

Thank you very much for your comment and particularly about our courteous staffe. Regarding the quality of the service you received during your stay with us, we appologize if it did not meet your expectation but this does not reflect the level of service we aim to deliver.
Regarding the drilling noises, as I understand this might have disturbed you, unfortunately we did not have any control over them as they were coming from outside.

I wish you would put your trust in our hands again in the future so we could host you the next time around brilliantly, as you deserve.

If I may be of any assistance, please feel free to contact me directly.
