“Wonderful first stay in Paris”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

We booked two rooms using points. since we traveled with my adult children, we hoped to book one room with two double beds. Luckily, we did get one room with a king and one with two doubles. Both rooms were good sized considering what I have seen in Europe. Check in was great, we arrived early and were able to check into one room right away and soon after received keys to our second room.

Front desk staff was friendly. Concierge was very helpful with recommendations and directions, bell staff was helpful in getting taxis, and housekeeping did a nice job with cleaning and turndown service.

We are platinum and so we received a very nice continental breakfast each morning since there was no lounge. We chose a welcome gift instead of points and received wine and cheese which was nice. In addition, I had been asked prior to arriving if we were celebrating a special occasion, which we were, my daughters graduation. Later on, we were surprised with another carafe of wine, some soft drinks and a small( but delicious) chocolate cake that said congratulations!
It was a nice surprise after our long trip...

We enjoyed the location very much. The arc de triomphe was literally a few minute walk and we were able to climb to the top our first night and get a spectacular view of the city. There were many attractions in walking distance and tons of shopping and cafes and restaurants right at the doorstep.

We enjoyed having drinks in the bar while watching the hustle and bustle of the Champ-Elyses.

The gym was small but functional and our breakfasts were good each morning. Staff was friendly. Lobby and courtyard were lovely. Both rooms had nice views(one of the lobby and one of the courtyard). Our rooms were well appointed with high end toiletries, bathrobes and slippers and chocolates and Evian each night at turndown.

We would definitely return to the Marriott Champs-Élysées and would highly recommend it.

I'm a huge fan and client of the Marriott hotel chain, so I was looking forward to staying at this property in the Champs-Elysses. I would not have paid the going rates, but we stayed with (a lot of) Marriott Reward points just to be up front about it. The hotel has a small entrance on the Champs, leading up to the main skylighted atrium lobby which is quite nice. Unlike virtually all Marriott staff I've encountered around the world, the people at the front desk were unwelcoming and not very helpful. Twice in a row at check in we were given room keys that did not work, for example, and we were treated like we were the problem. The only one who was a warm and helpful in the lobby was the concierge, and so was the nice gal who serviced our room, both clearly immigrants. I guess every one else was just a Parisian. Rooms were nice enough, as you expect from Marriott, but certainly not as large as the rates would make you think they'd likely be. Amenities are nice, though the TVs are pretty small. Most frustrating to me was our inability to acces the internet from our room. They wanted to charge 20 Euro for internet access even though there was no internnet access -- go figure. Come on, Marriott, in this day and age quality access to the internet is part of modern travel. Very disappointed in this (by the way, you can access the internet for free from the lobby, but not from the convenience of your room). We ate at the restaurant twice. Food was pretty good (some choices more so than others), but not of a quality to compete with what's out there in the city. I'm never going back to this place. There are better and certainly more reasonably priced places to stay in Paris.

My wife and I stayed at the Marriott during our stay in December 2012. The staff is excellent, the facility and amenities up to all Marriott standards and the location ideal. It was a beautiful place to enjoy our Christmas holiday.

In Marriott fashion, this Hotel is worth all of the praise. The staff at the front desk, the concierge desk and the restaurant and lobby bar staff are respectful, friendly, and attentive. Our room faced the Champs-Élysées and we could hardly hear the hustle and bustle of the street. The amenities were pleasant and the room was spotless and comfortable. Always clean and refreshed. If you can indulge, go here.

Checked in today and we are very disappointed.
The rooms are crazy expensive yet they are just average with worn out carpeting and low quality bedding.
TV so small that it cold barely be seen.
Hallway carpeting also faded, worn and not vacuumed.
The staff that we have encountered thus far all seem much less than enthused,
No lounge for gold and platinum members, which was quite a surprise.
No available upgrade for platinum member.
Oh well, as they say here in France, c'est la vie!!!!

This is a cut above the standard US Marriott or J. W. Marriott - and a notch below the premier Asian Marriotts - like Shanghai.

Champs-Elysee location cuts both ways. On the downside, it's a bit west of the center of town and awash in hordes of tourists (and more beggars than in 2011 or 2012). A plus is that the 1 Metro is incredibly efficient and being adjacent to "le triangle d'or" and St. Honore there is both super shopping and many terrific dining options.

It's a very large, American-style business-oriented hotel. While the staff is uniformly pleasant and generally competent, if you are expecting a warm "welcome back" or any memory of whether you like coffee or tea at breakfast, you'll be disappointed.

The breakfast buffet is pricey (it's Paris and an almost 5 star), but a more than adequate spread of American, European and Middle Eastern fare. (Check out breakfast inclusive deals).

And services are a little inconsistent: turn-down some nights, not others. Newspapers delivered some weekdays and not others.

The rooms (re-looked in 2009 or so) are spacious by European standards, the baths have replaced bidets with stall showers. Excellent water pressure, which doesn't seem to be a given in Paris. The housekeeping was generally very good, the maintenance of the rooms a little less so - missing trims on furniture, scuffs and a few cigarette burns on carpet.

It's a predictable, solid choice, but depending upon the price, I believe that one can do better - Renaissance Arc de Triomphe is similar and more chic, and from time to time both the Fouquet's Barriere and Le Prince de Galles can be cheaper.

Room Tip: Most rooms face the interior courtyard. This is fine, they are both light and extremely quiet.

We had 6 perfect nights at the Marriott CE. The location was perfect for our purposes- close to all major museums and we got in our walking. The room was large and the Bath almost larger.
Staff went out of way especially Judith at breakfast and Omar the concierge along with the young men and women in the business center.
Of course since you are on the CE there is a mass of humanity outside the front door, but to associate with a less frentic crowd you can always walk the short distance to Hermes et al.
The only thing I missed was a Platinum Lounge, which is nice before dinner, but the complimentary breakfast was outstanding.
We even had two excellent room service dinners when we were just too tired to go out.
First class all the way

Room Tip: We had an inside upgraded room. Nice and quiet
