“Thank God for consistency!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013

Returning from a holiday in Spain and driving through France the slow way, we have stayed at a number of hotels over the past few days, and had decided to spend a couple of days in Paris on the home leg of our journey. And we had pre-booked into the Holiday Inn at Auteuil because:

a) it is next to the Peripherique, thus ensuring that we could make a quick getaway on the day we return
b) there is plenteous parking nearby at the Football Stadium
c) it is close to the Porte de St. Cloud Metro station - and just within the 'yellow' zone for City Metro tickets
d) Holiday Inns offer consistency!

In none of these were we disappointed, especially the lattermost! I have heard it said that Holiday Inns are boring, yet here I appreciate more than I can say the predictable quality of the rooms, their furnishings, the welcome at reception and the comfortable beds and pillows.

Un-usually, our room had no bath, just a shower and washbasin etc. Since we usually shower and rarely have a bath in hotels, we appreciated this - and the extra space that not having one released. We also appreciated having a fridge - not that we availed ourselves of the contents, but we were able to put our own perishable foodstuffs into it!

Intercontinental Hotels have got it right here - well done!

PS. And you can walk to the eiffel Tower from here in an hour!

Room Tip: From our room on the fifth floor we wre not aware of the traffic.

If you are planning to do a lot of sightseeing in Paris, would recommend a more centrally located hotel. Metro station is 5 metres from this hotel, but a daily 1 hour in total wasted in metro is not that fun.
The hotel is ok, nothing amazing, room clean and quite big for Paris, anything you would need for a city visit ( it's not like you are spending a lot of time in it anyways).
Do not buy the breakfast, 15 euro per person, we ate each morning from the close by boulangerie's and careffour with 8 euro 2 persons.
Restaurants close by are pretty expensive for what they offer, food is average and non-french ( steak and fries for 18 euros, 25-40 euro a bottle of wine). Eat in other neighbourhoods.
Next time I would pick a more central hotel , even if it has smaller rooms.

It's a nice hotel to stay in for a couple of nights i'd say. Metro station 20 metres away. There are supermarkets, restaurants and cafés around but don't forget you're in the 16th "arrondissement" so everything is super expensive!
It's kind of far from the city center I must say, but if you have a car it's ok.

The room was clean, staff was nice, a bit snob, but that's the parisians I guess.

Overall, not one of the best hotels i've stayed in but a good one for a 1 night stay.

The value for money is kinda expensive, around 100 a night for tiny rooms like that is according to me too expensive, PLUS the breakfast was NOT included and costs 15 euros each!

Nice hotel. Good service and staff. The area is quiet with some restaurants and supermarkets around. Metro station 2 minutes from the hotel.
The disadvantage of the hotel is that it is a bit away from the city center: about 20 minutes by metro which leads to a very competitive prices.

We previously stayed at this hotel a number of years ago so it was nice to return to an area of Paris where you can walk through the neighbourhood feeling relaxed and not have to worry about your safety. The hotel is situated in what is generally a residential area with good access to public transport. Anything you may have forgotten to bring with you on holiday is available at the nearby shops.
The hotel has been well refurbished and the room we were allocated was of a good size with plenty of storage and a large bathroom. It was very clean and comfortable and the maid service very efficient. We were pleasantly surprised how good the double glazing was as the hotel is near a busy main road and we were grateful for the air-conditioning as the weather was very hot when we stayed. The breakfast was great with a wide choice of hot and cold dishes.
The 'Metro' is literally outside the front door. The 22 and 72 bus routes take you into the main tourist areas and are a good way of seeing the famous sites of Paris. The 22 bus takes you to the Opera passing the Trocadero and the Arc De Triomphe. The 72 bus takes you along the Seine passing many famous sites up to the Hotel De Ville.
We would definitely recommend this hotel if you don't mind having to travel into the centre of Paris using PublicTransport. Buy a 'Carnet' of 10 tickets @ 13.30 Euros at the local tobacconist or Metro station. You can cross Paris for just 1.33 Euros using the Metro or Bus. (Buying a ticket on the bus costs 2 Euros.)

Yes, the room was small and the price of breakfast high. However, many amenities in the neighborhood make up for that. My daughter and I would pick up pastry from the shop nearby and have that with coffee we made in our room most mornings. In the evening we were often too tired to go out to eat, but would pick up pre-made meals from the take away. If needed, those nice ladies who ran the shop would heat them up for us. There is a laundrette (lavarie?) nearby as well.

Our room was comfortable, if small, but we could control the AC which was a bonus since we were there during a heat wave. We told the front desk we intended to use the mini bar as a fridge, and when they came to stock it, we were able to get them to put in only water and leave out the beer, candy, and chips.

Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful. I had an issue with my bank and my phone. Kavila at the front desk went above and beyond to help me solve the phone issue so I could then handle the bank issue.

Yes, it is far from the touristy areas, but the locals were insistent that I learn more French and helped me greatly in that area. We were there long enough to become quite friendly with the people in the grocery store, pastry shop, and take away. If I ever return to Paris, I would stay here again.

The Holiday Inn in Auteil is a good accommodation that has all the comfortable standards of a city hotel. Their lobby is a bit on the small side, they offer a good breakfast and I found the service to be friendly. The standard rooms were also a bit on the small side, the bathroom very pleasant with a nice shower providing good pressure. Having stayed in a lot of really shabby and expensive Parisian hotels, in not even that great neigbourhoods, this hotel is a great alternative if you do not mind 20 minutes extra metro. The area around the hotel offers many great places for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all within walking distance.

If you are fed up with the extremely expensive hotels in the city centre that offer you nothing but walking up 5 flights of stairs, which make you think in the shower, 'what is this brown muck in the corners and on the ceiling?', and 'what would I see if someone let a blue CSI lamp shine in the room?' for 120 euro a night, then this hotel is a good choice!
