My wife and I loved this hotel. We went the last week of May for 4 nights. Hotel is right at the Metro, there are so many restaurants & bars within close walking distance, and the room with a balcony was perfect! We thought the staff was very helpful and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to any couple travelling to Paris on vacation.

Stayed in Hôtel Edouard VI for 3 nights in June. Service was good (our reservation was "upgraded" and we got a tranquil room at the back on the 3rd floor) Room size good with good of cupboard space. Small but clean bathroom. Did not try the hotel breakfast. Will recommend to others.

Pros -
1) Metro is right in front of the Hotel
2) Cafe Montparnasse downstairs and open late - great for late night wine and people watching
3) Stevens at front desk was very helpful (the others, not so much)
4) Lot of food options around (but well, then again, that's mostly anywhere in Paris)
5) 15-20 minutes walk to Luxembourg Gardens

Cons -
1) TINY room and bathrooms

Stayed in this hotel two weeks ago for about 3 days. We went for work and so we had late nights coming back to the hotel.

1) The rooms are tiny and when you request for twin beds, you will get a super small single bed. So if you are tall, chances are your feet will exceed the bottom of the bed.

2) Noise pollution! The hotel is located at a corner of a busy street. Good location in terms of travelling but hotels in this kind of locations should at least put double glazing. When you are in the room you can hear everything from people walking on the street and the busy street with all the cars passing by. Even if the window is closed you can hear everything so if you are a light sleeper, do not book this hotel.

3) The temperature in the room is not working. In the evening the room gets sooo hot and even though there is supposedly an aircon, it's not really working. They just say they will check it. Since the rooms are soo small it get hot very easily and you can't open the window when you sleep because the streets are so noisy. Also, since it is sandwiched between restaurants, when you open the window, you can bet that you will have second hand smoke and the smell of people having cigarettes in your room.

4) It has a tiny elevator. Only 1 person with big luggages at a time. However, this is still a good thing.

5) The beds, even though it's so tiny, are very comfortable. The sheets also smells nice and clean.

Room Tip: All in all, if you need just a place in Montparnasse that has good links, this hotel is good. Howeve...

Monsieur

Stayed 9 days in May 2013. Very clean little hotel in a good location. Subway trains 4 and 12 are just outside the door, which gets you to really everywhere you need to go. A typical 3 star hotel- rooms are small, but I appreciated the large washroom counter. I had an outside room and did not have any real issues with the street noise. There was some, of course, but more subdued than expected.

There is always this problem with small Paris hotels. Planes from America get you to paris around 8AM- and the hotels generally won't give you a room till 2PM. Very inconvenient.

I would stay here again, but not for so long. After a while, the smallness gets to you! Oh yes, there is a one person elevator, the TV and internet worked perfectly, and I had a tub. Wonderful necessity for the feet after a long day on the streets!!

Room Tip: I was on the fourth floor and this was not a problem, but I would ask about the flashing hotel sign...

We booked this for relatives who came to visit us for 3 days and we were all very impressed with this hotel.
The location was great, close to metros, buses and train station (Gare Montparnasse).
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, our visitors were late arrivals, around midnight, and this was no problem. They were very pleased with their room, they had a terrace overlooking Place 18 Juin which was unexpected, and which they really enjoyed. Having stayed in other Paris hotels they were also impressed with the room size, the bathroom and especially the shower. They will definitely stay there again.

The Hotel Edouard VI is a great little boutique hotel in an extremely convenient location. There's a metro station literally outside the front door serving lines 4 and 12. There's also another metro stop serving lines 2 and others about two blocks away. The majority of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, we only had one employee who was OK, but not overflowing with an urge to help us navigate the city. All in all I would say the staff were excellent. The rooms are small, but the bedding is extremely comfortable and the bathrooms are small but very clean. We had beautiful french windows in our room that opened to let in fresh air and to take in the surrounding neighborhood. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in direct vicinity as well as a post, ATM and a variety of shopping. The street noise is very audible however. I happen to find it comforting but if you're looking for a quite place to stay absolutely choose another hotel! I would absolutely recommend this hotel!
