“nice location, great staff, comfortable and clean room for great value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2012

hotel exceeded expectations. The room was very small but the bed was super comfortable, the room quiet and clean, the bathroom had a nice tub, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location is great, lots of brasseries all around the hotel and just a few blocks away, you find St Placide, St Germain and the wonderful jardins du Luxembourg. I highly recommend the hotel, it had all we wanted for a great price.

The hotel is situated not far from Montparnasse station and close to the heart of Montparnasse itself which has probably hundreds of restaurants and bars and is an ideal location for tourists to base themselves.

Check-in was friendly and efficient. Due to the busy/noisy nature of the area I asked for "une chambre calme" (quiet room) and was allocated an ideal room on 5th floor at back of hotel. Nice and quiet, but surprisingly still some rumbling noise from passing metro trains.

The corridors and rooms are nicely air-conditioned - a welcome surprise compared to many Paris hotels. Room was small (approx 3x3m) but nicely decorated, although the paintwork was a little chipped. Bathroom clean and very modern style with Villeroy & Boch sanitaryware. Flatscreen TV with loads of French channels, but only 2 in English, and one of those (BBC) did not work. Free Wifi worked very well.

Continental breakfast costs €12 and is fine but unremarkable. It is served in the basement which has no windows and is not airconditioned and rather hot. Also the metro rumble noise is much wose in basement - felt like I was on Platform nine and three quarters! I'd recommend instead to have breakfast in one of the restaurants immediately outside the hotel - cheaper, and if the weather is nice you can sit outside and watch the world pass-by.

Overall a good hotel, but not exceptional. I would definitely go again if other hotels were full. I'd give it 3.5 if I could. 3 seems a bit low, and 4 is probably too high.

Room Tip: Ask for "une chambre calme" if you are disturbed by noise.

found the hotel to be comfortable and ideally located. Rooms average size for a traditional European city hotel, well appointed and bathrooms modern with plenty of hot water (showers excellent) . Had read of roooms not being soundproofed but didn't have any problems. Staff were friendly and gave us plenty of tourist information. Metro literally on the doorstep and only a short walk to pick up the 'hop on hop of bus'. Didn't have hotel breakfast but no shortage of cafes and retsaurants again on the doorstep. Recommend the Italian restaurant Dinos a few doors down. All in all would recommend for city break.

After the other hotel we stayed at in Paris we we somewhat concerned. But montpanass proved a great areA. The hotel is not big but it is Paris and it has everything you could possibly need on holiday. A comfy bed, a clean room, hot water you don't have to wait for and is all above a metro entrance/ exit(no. 8).
Would certainly use again and recommend. Lift is small though, but that appears the same in other French and Italian hotels of a similar size.

Plenty of places to eat and drink right at your doorstep. Check out jocelyn's creperie. Be prepared to wait tho it's worth it.
The Turkish place across the road is also worth a mention. The meals are massive- don't overdo the ordering. This hotel,. Chez Bebert Coucous and Jocelyn certainly saved our Paris experience.

Stayed here recently for a short getaway and found it a delightful home for the weekend. It's close to everything, including the large Montparnasse metro station which means you're never far from anything! You can see the Eiffel Tower from just outside of the hotel. This sighting lead me to a 45 minute walk to visit the tower in person. The walk from the hotel to the tower was full of interesting sites and it really didn't feel like a long walk at all. Free wifi, comfortable enough bedding and a flat screen tv make this modest hotel a great landing spot for your visit to Paris! 5th floor locations with balconcies are the best in my opinion.

Room Tip: 5th floor has balconies!

In the middle of everywhere and everything , the metro station is just on the entrance of the hotel, staff r helpfull , nice and smiling, rooms v small as most of similar hotels , breakfast is poor and always missing bread or cheese....rooms r not sound isolated..I could here my neighbors making love loud and clear...at 2 in the morning. ;) but would suggest for tourism where u leave early morning and get back late night..

Great, helpful, friendly staff, 5 star rated. But the double room was extremely small, and I paid 185 Euros per night. It is a great location with plenty of restaurants and easy access to a major Metro hub. But it was very noisy with the cafes outside. Think of the location as Herald Square and Times Square but without the porno type businesses. The room was clean and the bathroom very modern, but tiny. I was fine with it, but thought that I could have gotten a better value with a better room. I would stay here again but have to think I could get a better value.
