Novotel Paris Vaugirard Montparnasse
Ranked #759 of 1,804 Hotels in Paris

Stayed there on business for five nights. First, I was impressed with the nice, clean and large lobby area - and the very nice greeting as I checked in. My room was on the fifth floor and of fair size for Paris standards. Nothing special, but clean and comfortable sleeping. The restaurant on site is good - but service was a bit slow. Breakfast area is large - and well lighted - with a fair selection for both North Americans and Europeans. This hotel is not quite "within" the Montparnasse area - so it gets very quiet at night - with a few places to have dinner near the hotel. But it is close to the subway - so from there, you can easily get to anywhere you want in Paris.
Only negative comment is about the wifi... if you do not pay the quite expensive extra charge for "premium" - you will have a very slow and unreliable service.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during my visit to Paris. The location was good, but apart from it, was very disappointing. Would never consider this hotel as 4 star, possibly 2, even this is too much. Very outdated. Very basic toilet. Bath needs a better clean. Grey colour bed sheets, and a fridge, which you can't even open because its locked! Took a while to get 2 normal cups & 2 bags of teas to have a warm drink as they never bothered to provide us with any anythig apart from sugar cubes and coffee with plastic cups...????? It says there is a bar upstairs with panoramic views...it's closed! Overall, we didn't bother to pick up on all this, so not to spoil our trip, but I know for sure, we will not be back.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your comment, which has been passed on to the hotel staff. We are in the process of changing our rooms to the new Novotel generation, and this will improve their general state. I am sorry that that you were not appropriately provided with cups and tea . Please know that the necessary measures were taken so that it doesn’t happen again. The minibar in your room opens when you give a payment guarantee at the Front Desk. Another time, do not hesitate to contact our staff, they will be happy to explain and assist you with anything you need..
As for the Lounge Bar View on the 7th floor, it is an ephemeral bar: because of its outdoor terrace, it must close by cold temperatures, and it is only open to the public from May to September. However, you are still welcome to step outside on the terrace all year.
We hope that we will have the opportunity to offer a better level of quality during another stay.
Best regards.

My boyfriend had booked this hotel as a surprise for my 21st birthday, and wow, did this hotel deliver! To start, such a great location, close to the metro and the Montparnasse district which has plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy. Great, clean rooms with a view of the Eiffel Tower from our window! So special.

Now, what made this hotel so special for me, was the front desk staff. Greeted with a "Happy Birthday!" from them was surprise enough, but when we returned from our outing on the Friday evening, to find a bottle of champagne, a platter of fruit, and a birthday card from the front desk...Well! It just made my weekend that much more special.

The next day, we asked the front desk staff to make reservations at a restaurant we had researched, however, it turned out it was closed for renovations. But never fear, they offered a suitable alternative, Le Cap, which was absolutely perfect. The staff made the reservation for us, and when we stated our name to the host, we were immediately greeted with a "Happy Birthday!" and a glass of rose champagne for each of us.

Thankyou very much to the front desk staff, you really made my birthday so special! I will definitely be coming back!

Room Tip: Top floor, non smoking.

If you've travelled much in France, you probably know about Novotel. In which case, all you need to know is that this is a Novotel close to the Vaugirard Metro. Thanks for reading.

If you don't, here's what you can expect from a Novotel: A room which is clean and comfortable, without much adornment. The staff will be pleasant and helpful. The location will be so-so, but fairly close to decent transport facilities. There will probably be no hassles during your stay. Wi-fi will be free and will work, though if you have a smartphone and want to do more than just check your e-mail, it will irritate you no end by constantly asking you to log in (is there anywhere in France where this isn't a problem?). The ethernet cable will probably be just for decoration.

Breakfast? If all you want is a croissant and a coffee, there are several cafes very close by. If you need something a bit more substantial, and can get it for the €8 that I did, it's one of the better value breakfasts you will find in Paris. The only thing I will remember about this hotel a year from now is the bloke at the next table, happily tucking into potatoes and scrambled eggs at 6.30 in the morning. To you, sir, chapeaux.

Did lots of research on TA about where to stay and which hotel to pick and I think we made the right choice with this one. Travelled with my 12 year old daughter - was her birthday the week before.
Hotel is in a very good location, yes its slightly out of the centre but it is literally a couple of minutes walk from the metro to not a problem. Bought a couple of the 10 ticket metro tickets which was a good saving. Easy(ish) transfer from the airport.
Reception staff helpful and knowledgeable. Reception area nice and clean. Bar on ground floor, small with a few bar stools and sofa chairs, but ideal for a quick G&T before bed (and yes, its expensive). Bar service a bit ropey, happy to serve us at the weekend but very slow on a Monday when full of business people who seem to have priority when ordering drinks!
Rooms are quite small but didn't matter as we only slept in them. Shower had good power and was nice and hot (all you need after a day on your feet). Rooms are very quiet even on the front where we were - the odd police siren (police station across the road)
Breakfast was in our package and was acceptable (the cooked bit was just ok). Definately wouldn't have been worth paying 16 euros for though.
Had one 'meal' in the hotel....a club sandwich brought up to the room. It was awful! Very small and god only knows what they had done with the egg, if I'd chucked it out of the window it would have bounced back up to me!
As a side (nothing to do with hotel) we booked all of our entrance tickets before we went. The Eiffel tower was horrendously busy on Saturday night with huge queues even for the pre-booked but when we went back on Monday (what we had booked) it was empty but they still wouldn't let us on til our pre-booked time, so would have been easier just turning up on a weekday. Also, on our last day we bought the RER ticket back up to the airport but had to get off at Gare du Nord due to an accident. it was chaos, nothing in English, no one to translate, nothing. I'd paid about 20 euros for this ticket and I then had to pay a further 50 euros in a taxi to transport us up to the airport, when you get to the airport you cant contact anyone from RER to get your money back so be careful its a very costly mistake.
All in all, a good stay at a good value Paris hotel. Would recommend.

After a weekend’s stay we’re full of praise for the Novotel Montparnasse. An easy walk from several metro stations, we found it attractive, smart and clean with helpful reception staff. Our room was spacious, with a sofa. The bathroom had both a bath and shower cubicle, and the WC was in a separate room. The breakfast buffet (included in the cost of our stay) was excellent – all the usual continental suspects with very good and varied breads and pastries, plus hot food (including bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes etc) and crepes. And fresh fruit, fruit salad, yogurts, cereals, cold meats and cheeses. Coffee not bad, tea and herbal teas also on offer.

First time in Paris, stayed for short weekend break. This hotel ticked all the boxes. The location is great, whilst slightly further out it is very close to Vauriguard Metro station and another advantage is local cafes etc are cheaper than other areas, but felt safe & friendly.

Got a two day metro pass so travelling was really easy, would say about 20 mins from Gare du Nord Station & close to Eiffel Tower too.

We stayed in a superior room on 6th floor and found room & bathroom to be clean, decent size & comfortable.

Had a nice bottle of wine in bar, €15 so not expensive for Paris and good service. roof terrace had great view of Eiffel tower.

Ate at Bistro Le Cap, recommended by hotel. Great food, excellent quality & 5 star service.
