“Great hotel not far from all the sites”
Reviewed November 9, 2012 via mobile

Really enjoyed our visit to Paris and the Novotel Vaugirard. The staff were really helpfull and any enquiries we made were dealt with very quickly and efficiently. The location is ideal for all your sightseeing needs as you're a stone throw away from the metro and a journey into central Paris was no longer than 20mins. The rooms were fairly spacious and suited our needs. We stayed on a room only basis and didn't eat at the restaurant as there are many shops and cafes nearby. Would definitely stay here again as it's the perfect base to explore Paris. We booked through Eurostar and both the hotel and transport were a great price.

This is the third time that I've stayed - and I come back for good value, convenient location, and spacious rooms (by Paris standards anyway). Most countries have a hotel chain that offers reliable and comfortable hotels in all major towns. Novotel is that chain in France. Rooms are clean and comfortable; service is efficient; location is reasonaby convenient; and generally this adds up to good value. But don't expect personalised details; gourmet dining; or locations overlooking the tourist sites. Novotel Vaugirard fits the mould very well. Rooms are spacious and clean; the hotel is a one minute walk from the metro station for conventient access to all of Paris; breakfast is good; and staff are pleasant. One nice touch is the rooftop bar with views of the Tour Eiffel. Open during the summer months, make sure you visit after dark to watch the sparkling tower for five minutes every hour. All in all, another good value stay at the Novotel.

You can't really go wrong with Accor and Novotel is such a solid brand you get what you expect. In my case I expect good things and have yet to be let down.

Thus one is a tad off centre and the bar closed early, however who cares it Paris and this hotel supported all I wanted and needed for a brief stay. If I was in Paris fir a week I may want sometibg a bit closer to the centre, but would be OK if this was all that available from Accor.

Won't go wrong here.

The hope was to grab a well-known brand available in a moderately priced Eurostar bundle, a baguette's throw from a Metro and - Voila!, end up with a convenient, if not exciting, Paris holiday base. Unfortunately the result was a clear couple of degrees shy of 'comme ci, comme ca'.

Staff were pleasant and always seemed available. The sheets and towels were laundered to crisp whiteness. The breakfast was huge, and seemed well made, although I stuck to austere options in fore-penitence for later patisserie. In-room wifi worked well with portable devices.

Unfortunately this large hotel was let down by important details. Amenities generally provided for free in other Accor family hotels involved a cost, such as €24 if you wanted to use the television. The whopping €16.50 pp breakfast price tag could nearly be forgiven in light of the convenience and abundance. But, we were not informed about the charge by the front desk (who enthusiastically told us when and where the buffet would be available) nor the signs in the lift to come early to avoid buffet queues, nor the in-room booklets and menu. It was only the keen eyes of my companion spotting the charge in small print under the back of room door fire plan that kept us from finishing the 3 day trip €100 lighter than anticipated (although this was after the first breakfast, so still a bit of a sting at check out).

Room cleanliness was fair to 'needs improvement' outside of the linens. The carpet was not thoroughly vacuumed, the shower tray was very dingy, the long life milk had separated and the shower door let water spray over the entire bathroom unfettered.

For the price, there are many more central hotels and flats to rent in Paris with better standards. This hotel should only be considered after some cleaning/updating, restructuring of pricing 'extras' and better communication.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your feedback. I must apologize for the incomplete information you received. Your comments have been passed on to our Front Desk staff. I also apologize for the run-down state of the room. Your comfort is a priority for us, and I can assure you that the necessary measures will be taken regarding this point. As a matter of fact, we are currently getting ready to update our rooms to the new Novotel generation.
However, please note that the use of the television is free in our hotel rooms, for all regular and cable channels. We do offer a package for PayTV films and 24-hour cable internet access, which costs 24€.
We hope nevertheless to welcome you again for a better experience.
Best regards.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel for a long weekend in Paris for my husband's birthday. I had mentioned his bday when making the reservation and we had champagne delivered to our room with flavored water for the kids on his birthday with a nice note! Staff was very friendly and helpful - we are Americans who live in Europe so for us, it was above and beyond the usual customer service (which is the bare minimum) we are used to. Kids are in the lobby was enjoyed by our 6 & 9 year old and the top floor offers views of the Eiffel Tower - awesome at night. Very close to metro and stores etc very close to hotel. We only had breakfast there which was tasty and convenient. Hotel is quiet (we were on the 5th floor) and clean. My only one prevention from an excellent was the room was a little worn and smelled stale when we first got there - opened the balcony no problem since we had an executive room. That being said, I'd go back. Price was right for Paris and service was great!

This hotel is clean and functional. It lacks any atmosphere and is a little out of the centre - but both of those things make it much better value for money than more central hotels - if you're looking for somewhere to lay your head after sightseeing and don't plan to spend much time at the hotel.
We needed a room that could accomodate 2 adults and a child and this room was absolutely fine - a good-size sofa bed with a decent mattress for our son.

The breakfast was fairly good and the staff were cheerful and helpful.

CAUTION - THE BAR IS LUDICROUSLY EXPENSIVE!

Room Tip: Our room was at the back of the hotel which was nice and quiet at night.

I've spent 3 nights in this hotel in September 2012, to attend a Trade Show taking place a couple of stop from Vaugirard. Due to the short distance from this event, the hotel was overcrowded. I could only checked-in at 3 pm. It's a very nice hotel, very clean, excellent service, great gym. The restaurant has a very nice terrace, ideal for working lunch.
