Stayed there on business with a group, so fortunately I did not have to worry about finding a hotel and the price, but was a bit disappointed. The location is very convenient, in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, but the room was shabby (walls half-painted) and not exactly spotlessly clean (hair in the bathroom other than mine). The staff was average, breakfast good, night a bit noisy (thin walls).

We booked this hotel while we were in Paris as we had to flee the hotel we originally booked (due to lack of cleanliness). Even tough they had our reservation just 30 minutes before we arrived, our room was ready and the check-in went very smoothly. We got a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower which was excellent! The rooms are clean and nice, the towels are changed every day and you get complimentary soap, shampoo/conditioner, Bathsalt, bodylotion etc. The Eiffel Tower is just a two minute walk and you find a Taxi station just outside the hotel.

I would absolutely go back!

Well it was Paris and it was small - I suppose I should have expected that. We had a Junior Suite and this, we were told, would accomodate a family of four. No. The location made up for the room - who wants to be in a hotel room in Paris anyway (sorry honeymooners). Minutes walk to the Tour Eiffel, metro and Seine - even with kids.

My girlfriend and I booked 3 nights at the Mecure Tour Eiffel Suffren Hotel through Great Getaways which gave us three nights for the price of two during late September. We were extremely excited about the idea of staying in a place that has the stunning Eiffel Tower in the view of our bedroom window. We were not disapointed!

ACCESSING FROM LONDON:
We travelled to Paris Gare Du Nord station from London St Pancras on the EuroStar. The distance from Paris GDN to the hotel is around 20-30 mins on the Metro with two changes via Barbes and Charles De Galles metro stations to Bir Hekiem which is a 5 minute walk to the hotel.

HOTEL EXPERIENCE:
The Mercure is an Accor hotel so cleanliness is of utmost importance..the hotel is SPOTLESS and has a very swanky reception with all the trimmings of an expensive 4* in London! On first impressions, the hotel looked great, a very sophisticated contemporary entrance situated next door to the Hilton Paris and literally at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

On entrance to the hotel, we were kindly greeted by a porter who took our bags and we checked in. The staff spoke excellent English and were very pleasent and mannered. We had requested a view of the Eiffel Tower from our room which was logged on the system and the receptionist told us the room we have has a 'beautiful view'. We got to our room on the 10th floor and was BLOWN AWAY. We got into our hotel in the evening and were greeted by a picturesque view of a flashing Eiffel Tower that looked amazing!

The rooms were not too small but smaller than some we have stayed in but was modern and contemporary and had a comfortable bed. The toilet and bathroom shower are separate but very clean and modern. The shower was very nice.

The room includes a mini-bar (although some of the drinks are quite expensive), a TV with satellite, a small coffee table, ample wardrobe space and importantly a very good safety deposit box which you can programme your own pin for keep of passport and money etc.

The hotel is kept extremely clean and rooms are serviced every morning unless you do not want to be disturbed ofcourse.

The breakfast is available from 6:30 to 10:00 and consists of cooked sausages, scrambled eggs and bacon. Classic continetal of coissants (very tasty), pastries, cereals, a range of cheeses and cold meats. There are also a range of coffees and tea, fruit and youghurts.

LOCATION:
The hotel is in an absolutely fabulous location and everything is accessible via a VERY VERY efficient transport system. When I looked at a Paris map I underestimated how close the Eiffel Tower would be. It is literally a 2 minute walk so you can visit day and night!

I hadn't been to Paris since i was a kid and was a bit apprehensive that we wouldn't be able to work the transport out. I would recommend that you buy a Paris handbook that includes all the attractions and has a METRO/RER map so that you can plan your journeys ahead.

Paris Metro is extremely efficient and from Bir Hekiem everything is accesible. A day pass to Paris Zones is around 5.70 euros and gives you access to travel to all the main sites in Paris. If you want to tavel further out as we did to Montreul, you can use the RER which the day travel pass is valid. These are two seperate lines and both are underground.

Other than the metro, Paris has an array of other transport including bus, boat bus and taxi (taxi is not really needed as everything else is efficient)

There are lots of restraunts around the hotel including a VERY nice and VERY friendly Italian that serves pizza, pasta and salads. There is also a very nice restraunt that serves traditional French food and takeaway crepes (we had them for breakfast once) there is a very nice Indian restraunt called the Taj Mahal down the road from Bir Hekiem station near Tour Eiffel Station and is well recommened if you fancy a change from French food.

In three days we managed to visit The Louvre, Arc De Triumphe, Place de La Concorde, Champs Elyses, Notre Dame, Montreul Markets, take a trip down the Seine and ofcourse the view from the top of the Eiffel Tower.

I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel as it is a prime location to experience Paris. The hotel is very accomodating and is a great base to visit all those famous wonders of this absolutely magical city. My girlfriend and I fell inlove with the cities beauty! I hope you feel the same when you visit the Mercure Eiffel Suffren!

This hotel has a real gem of a location just two minutes walk from the Eiffel Tower on the edge of the quiet and very safe 15e Arrondissement of Paris. It is well served by both Metro (Ligne 6 - station Bir Hakiem) and RER (Ligne C - station Champs De Mars) although during August 2008 there are improvements being done to the RER so be aware that if you are travelling there from Gare Du Nord you can not use RER Ligne C as the line between Notre-Dame station and Les-Invalides is closed. That said RER line C still offers a direct and rapid route from champs-de-Mars to Versailles so is ideal for sightseeing at that incredible palace!

The hotel rooms are basic and the decor is a little dated but they are well equiped. The rooms have a broadband connection, a TV with mainly french channels, and the usual optional extras like minibars and so on. There is even a fitness suite if you are intent on fighting the flab. Unusually for paris this hotel has it's own restaurant and from what we saw it is quite competant. There are also several quite nice cafe bars not far away. So for convennience you can't beat it.

During our stay in August there was some building work being done on the adjacent building so there was a little noise - but not too bad. And anyway who wants to sleep in late when you are on holiday! The beds were firm but comfortable and the air conditioning did it's job fine so a reasonable nights sleep was possible even in a strange bed.

Would I stay there again? Yes most certainly. - with luck we shall return there at christmas. It's not expensive and for wht you gte represents jolly good value.

We stayed here courtesy of ACIS. It was next door to the Hilton, a block or two from the Eiffel Tower, and a block more than that to the Metro station--also very close to cafes and the Rue Cler, which is a lovely little shopping street. The whole experience was delightful, from the lobby bar and breakfast room to the king-sized bed with beautiful linens to the staff, who extended themselves at all times to be helpful and professional. We loved our weekend in Paris, and the accommodations certainly contributed to that. We'd recommend this wholeheartedly.
