Located alongside the canal and only 5 mins from the Metro and sufficiently far out of town not to be surrounded by tourists, but only 6 stops from Gare de l'Est. Located in a slightly run down area, we nevertheless felt safe. The hotel was clean and tidy, though the rooms a little small, but bigger than many we've been in in Paris. Staff very helpful - our phone wouldn't work and they had it sorted quickly. The in house café/restaurant was good. There are a number of cafés and bars nearby which were good value and obviously well respected as they are well used by the local residents. Would happily use again. p.s. the concert was excellent :-)

Stayed here since it was reasonable price and close to the conference meeting venue. Very clean rooms but tight space, especially the bathroom - shower was very tiny. Would have stayed here for entire conference but had to move because of very poor Internet connection. The staff, esp. Alexandra, was very helpful and looked up other hotels nearby for us but we decided to move to a Best Western in the 1st district which has direct metro line to Cite des Sciences. Took 30 min to get there but the room was more spacious and location much more convenient. Overall, Ibis budget hotels are a good deal but this time their Internet was down and we needed it for work.

Hotel seemed pleasant enough, but after the first night, I noticed a few bites. On night 2, I woke in the night and found a number of bedbugs- mostly under the bed and squashed on the sheets. I collected a couple in a plastic cup, photographed a few and went to reception at 4am- they were apologetic, but unable to offer me another room- I had to go back to the room til morning. I got a single night refunded, but they refused to budge further- I was staying for 4 nights and expected a full refund. I have now spent a week barely sleeping and have bites over my face, arms, legs and torso. Unfortunately, this has marred my trip to Paris and overshadowed the whole trip.

Ibis Paris la Villette is located in front of Canal and Parc de la Villette. It's a good hotel Ibis-standard (I like them). It's a little bit distant from downtown, but being near the parc is a good-part of this location. However, the prices are high, specially in the restaurant. For those who like taking a beer in a non-touristic place, I recommend Espace B bar, 2-squares near of the hotel. It's even good for dinnig and prices are friendly. And if you don't want to have breakfast at the hotel and are going to take the subway, at the side of Courtain Courrentin station there's a bar (called "Sortie de la Metro" :) ) where you can have a typical french pétit-déjeuner: coffee and croissant, paying 3,50 euros. Bon voyage!
