“Disappointed in Hotel”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

First of all the hotel, including our room, had an unpleasant musty smell. Not able to open the windows in the room to get any fresh air. The sheets were scratchy and stained.
This is a business hotel, as the name implies, and we had to deal with several drunken businessmen when getting on the elevator in the evening.
No free wifi in the room so I had to use the business centre where the staff were indifferent to rude.
Will be looking for a different hotel for the next trip to Paris.

Stayed 4 nights to attend a conference. Room was on 7th floor and v quiet but not much of a view! Breakfast and conference lunches were very good. As stated many times the cost of Wifi was very high but free access in the lobby for catching up on emails etc.. Staff helpful and friendly and no problem if your French is minimal! TV in room gives access to local and some international channels but you ned to pay for anything else. Not much to see in the area, 40 min walk down to the river. Close to Metro so no problem getting to the rest of the city.

After leaving London (Hilton London Metropole), we were quite pleased with the Paris Marriott Rive Gauche! The room, bathroom, and beds were definitely much larger. There was also a desk in the room. However, once again WiFi was not free. It was only free if you are in the main lobby area.

We stayed here for 2 nights were the bed was very comfortable. After long days of walking around, it was also nice to come back here.

There isn't much around the hotel itself (walking distance). However, my husband and I took a walk and found a few restaurants to the east of the hotel (on the same side). We ate at a place called Villa Saint Jacques (1 boulevard St Jacques) and they had some decent food there from steak to pizzas and ice cream! They speak English there so not to worry if your French is not so good.

This was our fourth time staying in Paris. The first was a small boutique hotel in the Latin Quarter, Second was the Renaissance Vendome, third another French boutique hotel and this time we decided to use our Marriott points. As previous posts have said this hotel was quite remote from Paris 'proper' however a block away was a subway station. We decided to take the subway from the airport to this hotel and it was quite an ordeal. Take the RERB line. then
at the Denfert station you have to go up and down many flights of steps to transfer to the green line to the Glacier station. Not so bad if you don't have luggage, but quite an effort if you do. At the end of our stay we took a cab to CDG (55 euros) and it was only a 30 minute ride as opposed to the 1 hour train ordeal.

Our room was nice and large, compared to French hotels. Nice large Marriott bed and clean bathroom. My only complain was a thin wooded door adjoining our room with the one next door. You could hear every move they made in the next room. We asked for a room high up, so they gave us a room on 17th floor, Nice view of the city.

The best part of our stay was the concierge/executive lounge. Nearly a full meal at dinner and breakfast. Beer and wine every evening for free. Wonderful French pastries everyday about 4pm. Always free Pepsi and 7-up in the lounge if you needed anything. Concierge desk was extremely helpful is give us maps and directions. We bought a week's subway pass and got our use out of it and then some. Cab fare from this hotel to the tourist sites would have been very expensive.

Would be stay here again? Probably, however I really did miss staying in a truly 'French' boutique hotel to get the French experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor for a view of the city

Nice clean hotel with very comfortable beds in a quieter location but with easy access to all the sights. Bit pricey to eat and drink in the hotel but I suppose it's to be expected in the middle of Paris. Very friendly and helpful staff. Extremely well organised conference facilities.

I was pick pocketed on a tour and left with no drivers license, money or credit cards. Without the excellent help from the Concierge and the Business staff, my experience would have been much worse. They went above and beyond in helping me call my credit card companies so there was no charge to me.

Room Tip: Although our room on the 7th floor overlooked train tracks, the room was 100% sound proof.

We stayed here one night while on transit and had a most excellent experience. We were met by the Manager upon check-in and provided with a very nice room on a high floor, as requested, so we had an excellent view of area and Paris. That was very nice for only a one night stay! The Lounge is also VERY GOOD and well stocked. The hotel is welcoming and has all the services you could hope for. It is also well located in Paris to get around and close to Orly for flight connections. The bus to Orly is a block away, but a taxi for two was only slightly higher and well worth the difference! Highly recommend you stay here!

Room Tip: Request a room on a high floor for a spectacular view.
