We were a bit worried about our travel agents choice of hotel. Booked here because close to our departure point. It’s compact but clean. Beds are comfortable. Bathroom, although compact is recently renovated and clean.
No kettle. No fridge. No air conditioner. 1 glass to share between the two of us- twin room.
Has a large window that opens to let in the fresh air, but neighbours are noisy and have an awful habit of clearing their throat and nasal passages very loudly, so once it’s time to sleep, window needs to close. Would not stay here if weather is going to be hot.
Otherwise it’s okay for its price and close to great little eateries

We decided on this hotel after reading the good reviews on a booking website. It said the location was great, the rooms were nice and the breakfast was great, not all true.

The location is good and was only a ten minute walk from the Eurostar station, the area is not the nicest in Paris, but you are close to bus stops and the Metro (would not advise using the metro, as there are lots of vagrants in the stations and on the trains, with no security or police visible).

The room was advertised as 15sq metres, in fact after measuring it turned out to be only 11sq metres, it was not even 15sq metres even if you included the bathroom. It was also on the top floor where the ceilings slope in, so the actual useable space was very small. It has a TV which is about the size of an iPad, in fact the smallest one I have ever seen in a hotel. The bathroom had a half size bath under the sloping ceiling, so I struggled to either bath or shower as there was no room.

The hotel has a lift which is so noisy and feels quite dangerous, this is in use almost 24 hours a day and the noise disturbed our sleep and we woken very early because of it, so totally ruined our relaxing break in Paris.

The breakfast room is nice, however the selection is not so good, a few pastries and croissants and baguettes, all over cooked and dark in colour (how can you get that wrong in France?). There is 2 different cheeses in packets, 2 different hams, 2 different cereals and some yoghurts, no fresh hot items, no fresh fruit etc etc.

All in all we did not enjoy this hotel and would definitely not return, there are lots of other choices in the area.

Dear Chef16071966,

First I would like to thank you for taking the time to write a comment about your stay in our hotel Relais du Pré. I am really sorry that we were not able to meet your expectations.

The 15 sqm of our room has been approved on April 14th 2015 by the organization called Atout France which controls and validate the number of stars of a hotel in France.

I sincerely regret that you did not come sooner to me, I would have find another room to accommodate you.

I wish a pleasant day, and remain at your service.

With kind regards

Have to say, I enjoyed my week stay at the Relais Du Pre, which had nice, clean rooms, TV, good wi-fi, efficient maid service and an excellent breakfast. I booked entirely on my BA points, which made this stay a relative bargain. Hotel is conveniently located near Gare du Nord and Gare L 'Est train stations, and the Poisonerre metro is just a 10-minute walk ... brekky had fresh coffee, croissants, meat slices, cheese, cereal, orange juice, etc., a great way to start your day ... the downside: no air-con, but staff can provide you with a small fan ... hotel is severely lacking a strong, friendly presence on the front desk -- as it stands, don't expect much on this front ... there is also a "bar" on the main floor, but it appears to be for display purposes only ... I tried to get a whiskey & Coke on the rocks one evening, only to be told this was impossible! 'We don't have ice' he insisted, angrily ... otherwise, I do recommend this three-star establishment -- it's basic, simple accommodation at an OK price ...

Good location to both gare's that enabled us to get into the north end of Paris and leave the next day! Located in a relatively quiet neighborhood we were able to sleep reasonably well.I had to laugh as the sound of the elevator made me think of the Starship enterprise coming out of warp speed We love this location as it is located within a 20 minute walk of Brasserie Julien, our favourite restaurant in Paris! This hotel also has a good breakfast?

We booked a room at this hotel through the cheap Jan-March Eurostar deal so we got a really good price on the room we had. However, regardless of how much we paid for the room I'll give an honest review for the benefit of future guests and travellers staying here.

The location is great if you're arriving into Gare Du Nord on the Eurostar as the station is only 10 minutes walk away. Likewise for the Gare de l'Est station which is as close by. Montmartre is only a 20, 25 minute walk as well. The walk to the main sites of Paris around the Seine is a little further, about 30 minutes. And at first glance, tucked down a side street it looks as if it should be a quiet neighbourhood. Or at least we thought so! This hotel is one of at least four in the same street (three of them have similar names so don't get them confused!). We had a room overlooking the street and opposite the lift, so in many ways we came to realise we were caught between a rock and a hard place. We were quite taken at first at the large double opening doors onto the show balcony we had. But as we found out, due to them being single glazed, they might as well have been open all the time. And as we discovered there doesn't seem to be any limit on how late or how early deliveries can take place in the nighttime. So with the picking up and dropping off of people and hooting of horns, the noise from outside at night was 'frustrating' to say the least! Also, the walls of our room were so paper thin that anyone with even a mild snoring problem could be heard through them. Along with mobile phone alarms, phone calls and the banging of a razor in the sink when people were shaving! The sound of the lift however was something we got used to. In short, we got very little sleep while staying here. So if you are staying here, make sure you get a room at the back!

The noise problem aside I'll say the Hotel was actually very nice. The room we had (aside from its lack of sound proofing) was basic but good with a comfy mattress on a proper double bed. A small flat screen TV showed a wide range of German, Italian and French channels with a British and American News channel as well. The bathroom was very nice and it was just that, a bathroom, with a bath. Not something you find in many continental hotels and though it was a small bath it was still used at the end of every day. The continental breakfasts, though an optional extra, are very good in a very nice breakfast room on the ground floor. The staff were also very good, friendly and helpful. To sum up, the 'Relais du Pre' overall is a nice mid range hotel let down by the noise problem.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms overlooking the street!

Dear Justin B,

We thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. The soundproof issue is known and we are planning isolation works.
We are happy to see that, besides the sound issue, you enjoyed the amenities of our hotel.

We thank you once again for your honest review and remain at your service.

With kind regards.
