“Average Hotel Near Pigalle”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

Paris hotels are expensive. Period. For around 70 euros per night this was a good deal on booking.com. The room was big, but had a stuffy feel to it. Of course, you get what you pay for and it was old and dingy. It was in a pretty good location right near the Pigalle metro stop and walking distance to Montmartre. It is nothing special, however. But, good value as far as Paris hotels go. I was in a pinch and needed to stay near a friend's place so I chose it. I would do more research and find a more renovated budget hotel if you are looking for value.

We stayed at this hotel on Dec-2012 - Jan-2013. Receptionist was very friendly and gave us a helpful advices upon transports etc.
Our room was small, (but warm, clean and with all necessary things) - mirror, 1 chair, 1 table, bed, 2 bedside tables, wardrobe and there is no more space to accommodate. But it was not such a big deal as we didn't spend so much time there!
However It was a bit noisy sleeping there as you can hear all the sounds from outside - alarm of ambulance every night and songs of some man in love under the windows! and sometimes from other rooms and cleaning at the corridors :)
We didn't take breakfast there in the hotel, because we just prefer not to be bounded by smth we aren't so sure about.
Nearby there are a lot of food shops (that offer cheeses, salami), bakeries, coffee shops and supermarkets (Carrefour is one of them). To go to the nearest metro station it will take about 10 mins. Very good location for walking to Montmartre, which is must to visit! Xmas markets and beautiful sights!
It's Moulin Rouge in the area and a lot of sex shops nearby. So if you're with children it's better to choose another way to walk around! :D

I have been to paris many times and this is the best hotel so far. above all the extreme kindness of the staff and the street which is beautiful, well appointed and handy to everything. a far cry from the very nearby cluttered and noisy proper montmartre streets which are at a stone's throw. the price range is similar to what you get anywhere else in paris for a 3 star french hotel. the rooms vary but the ones looking onto the courtyard are quiet and cozy. don't expect luxury but certainly a warm welcome from everybody

Room Tip: informarse antes de confirmar y asegurarse de que tienen lo que uno precisa. jamas fiarse de las fot...

Beware the taxi service of the hotel!! You pay 18€ per person, which is OK if you travel early in the morning or at night, but too expensive otherwise. We paid 32€ from Orly to the hotel with a regular taxi (2 adults, a 13-year-old girl and a 6-month-old baby) and decided to go back to Orly with the taxi service at the hotel. We were supposed to pay 54€, which is a big ammount, but finally we paid 62€ because I forgot something in the room and asked the driver (which, by the way, came 10 minutes late and had very noisy music in the car all the trip) to return to the hotel as soon as we left (it was a one-minute drive, as we were almost still there).
The personal at the hotel was kind and the hotel was cheap, relative to other prices you find in Paris, because the hotel itself is not so good, but the location is fine.
Finally, beware reservation web-sites like booking.com. I reserved there with a special (20€ higher per day) price which alledged you to anulate your reservation in case you needed. When I came to the hotel, I noticed that I have paid the regular (highest) price of the hotel (which usually alledges you to anulate several days before) PLUS the 80€ for 4 days, so that I had been completely deceived.

We stayed in Caravelle hotel August 15 -23, 2012. Very old hotel. Personal tried to make it looks better. Breakfast was standard continental one. Coffee was really good and they brought it in traditional European way with warm milk. Most of the personal was helpful and nice.
We lived on the 5th floor – no air conditioner, our friends lived on the 4th floor – air condition, but the present of it really didn’t make any difference when it was +35C.
Location of the hotel is very convenient: 7-10 min to Pigalle Metro station direct line to Montparnasse Luxembourg Park, 15-20 min walk to Montmartre and Sacre Coeur Church. There is a big supermarket with vine, cheeses and hot wood in 2 min from the hotel and a very cute bakery in 7 min from the hotel.
Food was very good in 4 or 5 restaurants we ate. Don’t eat next to the Louvre. Visited Musee D’Orsay (impressionist art). Great Impression! You have to be ready walk a lot if you want see Paris.
Remember everybody smokes in Paris everywhere! Really changed your impression about this city.

Room Tip: If you have a room with windows look inside yard you can see life of reall Paris

This hotel is Nice, the bathroom is tiny. The a/c did not work and the room was really hot. We needed to keep the window open to let out the heat however the noise from the locals at the pizzeria is very loud and lasts untill 2am. Location is fair 1block to metro but for us we will definitely book our next hotel near central paris. There were alot of questionable people drinking alot near the metro in the evenings. With alot of sex shops near and the people they bring in. not a good choice for a family with children. I say Nice hotel because the staff were Nice and not rude to us we are from USA so it was Nice to have French people be nice.

We got a room on the fifth floor, the room was cosy but the vents didn't work and you couldn't open the window since it was to noisy. The beds were worn out. One of the beds even had a leg broken. In the morning the windows were dripping with condense from our breaths. I didn't sleep very well. Staff was friendly though.I think the price was to high when compared with the standards offered.
