This hotel provided a great base for visiting the sights of Paris. It is very close to a Metro stop and the staff was extremely helpful in advising us on how to get places. We always felt that we were coming back "home" when we returned from a day of sightseeing. The breakfast offered a variety of things that our whole family enjoyed and was a healthy way to start the day.

We stayed at the Hotel Opera Cadet for 6 nights at the end of June. Overall, our experience was fine at the hotel. Accomdations were nice but the service overall was below average.

LOCATION : Location was very good. It's located on a relatively quiet street in a not very touristy part of Paris. The Metro stop is only a block away making travel much easier. There is a Starbucks and several good restaurants in the area. 4.5 STARS

ROOM : For a European hotel, the accomdations were relatively spacious. The rooms were clean and bathrooms modern. The only complaint was that the rooms tended to get hot at night requiring fans to be brought to the room. 4 STARS

FOOD : The breakfast was good. Not as much variety was we had hoped for. 4 STARS

SERVICE : Overall, we were not very satisified with the service at the hotel. At most times, there was only one front desk person and due to the sheer volume of people checking in and coming/leaving the hotel, the front desk person seemed overwhelmed. Often, recommendations on how to get to certain places or things to see were hastily given to us. We also had asked for some things in our room (like our safe that was not working) to be fixed several times with no response. We had seen the front desk people also being short with several other guests. 2 STARS

VALUE : Overall, considering the cost of things in Paris, this was a good value for a hotel. 4 STARS

We stayed in the Hotel Opera Cadet in June 2012 for 3 nights. We had a lovely stay, the staff were friendly and helpful. I found the information provided at check in a in the room to be extremely useful and current. The one pager with how to get to the main attractions using trains, buses and tubes was invaluable coming from a coutry where we don't use much public transport. The room was modern and clean. Breakfast was good. The hotel is very central when wanting to travel around Paris. I will definitely stay there again when in Paris.

I booked a room at this hotel through an online travel site, for which i recieved a confirmation. I wrote back to the hotel and they confirmed my booking for the dates. However 10 days before my check in i recieved a mail from the hotel stating that my booking had been cancelled due to my credit card being rejected ( i have used the credit card for at least 5 online transactions after the booking). On contacting the hotel they informed me that they will re instate my booking, and asked me to get in touch with the same online agency, on contacting the agency they informed me that the hotel had not authorized them to re instate my booking, my further queries and correspondence to the hotel have not yielded a reply. ( it is probably peak season in Paris and the hotel would be getting better rates than what they had advertised at the time of booking..) So with 10 days to go before my trip to Paris i have to start looking for a new place to stay only because i believed that this hotel would have some proffesionalism in their dealing.. So people please don't take theses guys on face value coz a confirmation of booking means nothing to them.. DONT be guided by all the cute reviews you read about this place...

, Directeur général at Opera Cadet Hotel, responded to this review, July 7, 2012
Dear Sir,

While we are very sorry for your disappointment and the inconvenience caused we would like to inform you that the Hotel Opera Cadet and all the online travel websites it works with operate the same way regarding the policy of an online booking: In order to guarantee the reservation, it is imperative that we receive a valid credit card number. No charges are applied to the credit card as we only check the validity of the card. In your case, the CC number was verified several times and unfortunately it always came back invalid.

In such a case, an alternative solution should have been given to you by the Opera Cadet’s reservation department; a money transfer or a statement sent to the hotel from your bank would have been accepted. This is the Hotel’s strict policy as it is the only way for us to secure the booking and guarantee it is honored.
We hope that your opinion of Paris in general and of the Opera Cadet in particular has not been too tarnished by this incident. We would be glad to welcome you at the hotel for your next visit and we hope to regain your trust as a quality hotel.

Opera Cadet is a half block from the Paris Metro (Cadet Station, Pink Route), which is a 15 minute ride (and a bit of a walk) to such major attractions such as the Louvre, the Tuillerie Gardens, and the Champs Elysee. Tickets for the Metro can be obtained from a vending machine in the lobby of the hotel.

The hotel lobby is nicely updated, the rooms tiny but completely adequate (although no closets. Bathrooms are modern, but as is the case in many hotels in Europe, one needs to climb into the bathtub to take a shower, and the tall sides of the tub might be quite a barrier to those with mobility issues. Was wakened early in the morning by garbage collection, but traffic noise was not noticeable.

Staff was extremely helpful with directions, making wakeup calls and following up with confirmation of our airport transfers. A list of restaurants in the area is also available.

Breakfast was included, and although there was not a huge variety, everything that I wanted was there..excellent yogurt, fresh fruit, excellent coffee and croissants you only dream of in North America. International newspapers were available for those who like their news fix with
breakfast.

The stellar feature of this little hotel was the serene little patio off the lobby.
The ivy covered wall and the total absence of traffic noise from the busy streets nearby allowed
for total relaxation after a busy day of sightseeing.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Our conceirge was a most charming and helpful Frenchman who helped us with our many enquiries regarding getting around the beautiful city of Paris in a understated and professional manner. Nothing was any trouble. Great location. Our room was a bit small but clean and comfortable and my 50th birthday was acknowlege with a lovely bottle of red wine and a fruit basket. Breakfast was a highlight with a great selection, attentive staff and the crepes yum. A fantastic start to our European holiday and I can highly recommend this hotel.
