“Lovely hotel.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

We stayed for 3 nights. An immaculate hotel. We had room 538, and had no problems with any noise, the double glazing certainly did its job! However, on either side of our room were linen/store cupboards, so we had no immediate neighbours, so we were lucky. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful....a special mention to Bruno who worked in the bar...a charming man! One suggestion, turn left out of the hotel to the village area of Montmartre to experience the true sense of France...beautiful. To the right is the Place de Clichy...a lively and fairly safe area...but DO NOT venture towards the Moulin Rouge and the area of Pigalle....not nice. All in all, an enjoyable stay in an excellent hotel...well done to all the hotel staff.

Room Tip: Higher floor with views.

Dear Maggie,
Thank you very much for posting your review on TripAdvisor.
We are pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay. We will share immediately your comment with Bruno.
Indeed, Montmartre is like a small French village and only at 15 walking minutes from the Mercure Paris Montmartre.
We hope to welcome you soon among us.

We booked this for a weekend in Paris in February and the price was very reasonable. It took a little finding when we arrived by Eurostar but really not that far. I was a bit taken aback by the location (through the sex district and next to the cemetery!) but I didn't feel unsafe at all while I was there. The room was fantastic and the staff were very nice to us (given we didn't even really attempt to speak French!). Would recommend for anyone coming to Paris for the first time.

Room Tip: Ask for one high up and towards the back of the hotel - you can see the Eiffel Tower from your windo...

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for taking the time to post your feedback in regards to your recent stay at the Mercure Paris Montmartre.
Indeed, the Gare du Nord station is not far. You just have to take the metro line 2 in directon to Porte Dauphine (only 5 stops).
We hope to be pleased to welcome you soon.
Sincerely,

I've already been twice in this hotel, and enjoyed both stays. The hotel is very well located, near Place de Cllchy, Moulin Rouge, Sacré Coeur, and the metro. Near the hotel there are lots of restaurants, and attractions.
The rooms are clean, spacious, modern and confortable.
The staff is ok, but at breakfast, there is some confusion because of the groups that usally stay in the hotel and leave at the same time, or take breakfast at the same time...
But in general is ok... and some rooms in the upper floor have view of the city, the eiffel tower, etc.. I reccomend

Room Tip: upper floor, rooms with view

Hotel is in a really good location but the service lets this hotel down.

On numerous occasions, I have stayed here more than once, when you ask the breakfast staff for anything, usually because your table has not been set and is missing something, you get a grunt. Having to lay the table yourself!! 4 star hotel?

Asking for a quiet room - you get second floor? Come on!!

Decided to stay somewhere else in future unless my trip is for one night when all I need is for somewhere to sleep and Starbucks in route t the office for breakfast!

Room Tip: High room away from lift area!

The hotel is very clean and nice, the staff is very helpful and polite, the public parking is next door to the hotel and the views through the windows are fantastic- one room we stayed in (8th floor, prestige rooms) looked out onto Montmartre and the windows of another room (9th floor, prestige rooms) had a view with the Eiffel Tower and the top of Arc de Triomphe! I have been in Paris many times and stayed in various hotels and I must say that it is very rare to have such a view through your window in a hotel in Paris (unless you pay big bucks). However, the hotel is too close to a very dangerous area in Paris- Pigalle. Unfortunately many tourists are unaware how dangerous this area is and are amused by Moulin Rouge, etc. You can watch the French documentary to learn more about the area nearby on YouTube, the title of the documentary is ‘Pigalle: Les secrets d'un quartier chaud (Reportage & Film entier) 2013’. Although, you can avoid the core of Pigalle by getting on a metro in Place de Clichy, people around on the way to metro are still very rough. Another issue- the room noise isolation is very bad (depending on the noise of your neighbours of course ). We stayed three nights and had our room changed after the second night as our neighbours had a mad party until 3 AM (sounded like 10 people partying...) and then again starting with 7 AM, most probably when the neighbours got back from the night club. I must say that the receptionist was very polite and did react immediately when we advised about the noise- our room was changed. All in all, it's a nice hotel, a good quality/price ratio (we got a great deal) and we enjoyed it, but be aware of the area around.

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you for your review regarding your recent stay at the Mercure Paris Montmartre.

We read your comment and feedback with attention, and we are sorry to hear that the proximity with Pigalle had embarrassed you. Indeed, Pigalle is a popular and living area. However, our hotel is not in the Pigalle area but on the Place de Clichy. For example, the metro station Place de Clichy is in the opposite direction. So, you are not obliged to cross Pigalle for visiting Paris.

Nevertheless, we appreciate your beautiful compliments on our helpful staff and the Eiffel Tower view in your room.

We hope to be pleased to welcome you for your next stay in Paris.

Yours sincerely,

Michel Bolen,
General Manager

Two nights spent enjoying Paris from this great hotel. Good size Superior room with tea/coffee facilities, very good sound insulation and a view of the Eiffel Tower. Conveniently situated near Sacre Coeur, lots of restaurants and the Metro. Breakfast booked ahead for 10 euros was very enjoyable - wide selection of hot and cold items rather than just a typical croissant and coffee - and good value.
