Just returned from a weekend at the Mercure Montmartre and can honestly say that it was a perfect place to stay in Paris,my wife and I went to Paris to celebrate her 40th birthday and when we arrived early on Friday we were allowed to check in a few hours early and were given an upgrade to a privilege room from a superior by the very polite and helpful kalil (in fact every member of staff we met all weekend were extremely friendly and polite) ,the hotel room was a good size with a huge comfortable bed, modern plasma tv ,super coffee maker and a fantastic view of the Eiffel tower and other landmarks,a metro station is only a short walk away(place de clichy)the line intersects with nearly all the other lines to bring you to the sights of Paris, the Montmartre area itself was a great place especially at night with lots of restaurants to cater for all tastes, plenty of bars with good drink prices(€4 a pint happy hours) we enjoyed corcarans Irish bar which is only a 2min walk away.overall I would recommend this hotel to anybody who wants to visit Paris,we can't wait to stay there again....Thanks

Our second stay in Paris and picked this hotel again, booked through booking.com at a rate of 230EUR (pre-paid) for 2 nights in a non-smoking superior room. Good size, good location for everything as there is a metro station a few minutes away, tea/coffee and mini fridge in room, comfy beds - our room was a few floors lower than last time and traffic was a bit more audible, but it did not disturb at night at all which is the most important thing for me. Bathroom very swish, nice design details. Staff are friendly if a bit slow - I think they should employ an extra person to handle bags etc at reception as this was the main thing slowing down the service.

I might look into staying somewhere else next time just to try a different place but I would definitely recommend this hotel as comfortable, a bit fancy, value for money and a good location if you haven't visited Paris before.

Well located hotel in north Paris. Convenient for Montmartre , Stade de France, Pigalle and quite easy to get to city centre and River Seine by nearby Metro (Place de Clichy) or on foot. Very comfortable, clean and efficient hotel if a little impersonal. Lots of cafe/bars and restaurants around the area - some very touristy but look about and good places/value can be found.

Always choose to stay at Mercure Montmartre for proximity to Place de Clichy and Monmartre. Good restaurants and cafes in area. Hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff friendly. Buffet breakfast is plentiful and generous.

We booked this hotel for 2 nights based on TripAdvisor reviews and weren't disappointed.

We booked a superior room which was on the sixth floor and without breakfast which, at €18 per person, seemed overly expensive. Perhaps if you enjoy continental hotel breakfasts then it may be for you but we prefer grabbing a coffee and croissant and there was a Starbucks and a number of other cafes nearby to choose from to do this.

The rooms were really spacious - certainly plenty of room if you were looking to stay here for more than a couple of days.

We had a shower head over the bath (assume this is the case for all rooms?) which was really handy and the toilet was separate from the bathroom. There's a hair dryer in the bathroom although its not very powerful so was glad I brought my own with me! A small kettle is also provided in the room.

There was a small fridge in the room which would be really helpful if we were staying here during the summer. There's also a small safe.

The location is absolutely fine - we walked from Gare du Nord and it took 20mins. There's the Metro nearby if you prefer the convenience of public transport rather than going around by foot. It's located just around the corner from the Moulin Rouge and not too far from the Sacre Coeur.

The rooms were really clean and I couldn't hear any noise from other guests which was fantastic as I've stayed in others before when you get disturbed by other guests walking down the corridor returning to their rooms which is frustrating in the middle of the night!

Would highly recommend to others and will be staying here again the next time we return to Paris!

Dear FrickandFrack,
Thank you very much for your nice and complete review!
Indeed, most of our rooms are with a bath and a shower head ( except handicap-accessible rooms). In some weeks, we will have rooms with shower after renovations.
This way, we hope to meet all expectations.

We arrived early afternoon (before preferred check-in time) but our room was ready and we got an upgrade which was an unexpected benefit. The room on 8th floor wasn't large but had excellent amenities including a Nespresso coffee maker and a good selection of complimentary toiletries. Ice was available on first floor. Minibar contained soft drinks and water (sparkling and still) which was complimentary and very welcome. Wifi was free and easy to join (although had to keep putting in details every time device was turned off which was a little time consuming). The modern bathroom had a separate toilet which was useful. View wasn't great as the windows wouldn't open inwards more than a few centimeters but was fine. Didn't hear any neighbours or anyone outside. The staff were friendly and helpful. Speaking English was not a problem (although we did attempt French when we could!) Location is about 10 minutes from Montmartre centre by foot and around 3 minutes from Place de Clichy metro station. Would recommend and stay again.

This hotel was an excellent choice for our weekend in Paris.

We arrived fairly late on Friday night, so it was great that the hotel is handy for Gare du Nord - 10 mins and €8 in a taxi. We could have caught the metro (station right outside the hotel), but chose not to with bags - but it was extremely handy to use the metro over the weekend.

Place de Clichy is a bustling, busy area - but from our 9th floor privilege room we weren't disturbed by noise at all. The view over Paris was amazing - it's superb to lie on the bed and see the Eiffel Tower shimmering across the city.

The room was extremely clean, bed very comfortable, and little things like the free wifi and soft drinks made a difference.

Towels were rather thin (common in France) but changed daily.

Reception staff very helpful and friendly, but we did wait nearly 10 mins to check out.

This is now our hotel of choice in Paris - we will definitely be back!
