The dirtiest ,most disgusting place i have ever been. You wont find such a place in the poorest country.Holes in the carpet dirty walls hair in the sink. I was expecting to find bugs in my bed.For over 100 euros per night this place is a rip off. The service is absent and there is nobody to care.you will like it if you are a fan of horror movies

Lobby has nothing to do with rooms and breakfast room. Rooms are durty, ridiculous and bathrooms too small. Taking a shower was an adventure

We stayed here Sept. 18-21, 2011. The hotel web page says 5 min. away from St. Lazare station...that is true if you are in a taxi. It is much farther away, more like 15 minutes for a fast walker. Free Internet? They make you complete a sign-in where you have to provide all your personal info including a credit card, before you get the log-in and password. Why? Front desk personnel were extremely rude. I speak perfect French, so it wasn't due to a language problem. Only 1 desk person was nice, who happened to be the only native French person. We paid an average of 110 Euros per night. For this price, you can find many better options. Look at the attached pictures of what to expect and move on. We mingled with other travelers at the hotel and all had similar stories to share - not a good place. Make your Paris dream elsewhere.

The good:

-Helpful staff who can speak English
-Breakfast good value, especially when you factor in the cost of coffee or tea elsewhere. It's a continental breakfast. Don't expect anything too elaborate. Cheese, bread/croissant, yoghurt, juice, tea, coffee. It could use the addition of fruit though.
-Clean
-Located well
-Good value
-Very pleasant little courtyard in the back

The mediocre-
-Room was small (but who spends all that much time in their hotel on a holiday to one of the most exciting cities in the world?).
-The one computer in the lobby was a good resource, but we couldn't get the "free wifi" to work on our mobiles.
-While the bed would be considered comfortable to some (maybe most), I found it to be too soft. But that is a personal opinion. However, people who have back issues which are made worse by soft beds might want to keep this in mind.
-The telly didn't pick up much (but who goes to Paris to watch television?)

The poor-
-Really stuffy rooms. We were on the front of the building and on the first floor, so keeping the windows open meant not being able to sleep as the street noise was incredibly loud. Mentioned it to staff, and they said you had to keep the windows open. Which, of course, we knew not being idiots and all.
-The walls are a bit on the thin side.

We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a well situated hotel at a good price with helpful staff, but I would say ask for a courtyard facing room first floor or above.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms above the first floor are recommended. Spring for the breakfast and fill up on coff...

Very good location and cheap. However, was glad to check out, took a long time to check in with reception staff breaking off to chat to someone else. Lift very small, key would not work properly to room, corridors tatty. Tatty carpet in room and far too small to be even nearly comfortable. Bathroom just had shower but would not have fancied getting into a bath anyway. No air con so no choice but to have windows open and was so noisy no chance of being able to sleep. Breakfast was so basic,, cereal, dry bread and croissants. Was a choice of croissants but that ran out at 8.30 am. One good point - friendly member of staff serving breakfast - that is only good point and certainly not enough to recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: room 404 looking out on to street. Would seem like a good idea being able to look over balcony to s...

The place is well located and a couple of people on the staff are helpful. That's all that's going for the place.

But for the great location - the rooms redefine tiny. For the couple of staffers that are helpful, the ones who are not are really nasty - the Manager shouts & comes up with responses like, ' if the free wifi isn't working, that is not our problem as you are not paying for it anyway'

If the rooms on the street side are noisy thru the night, the ones in the courtyard and on the ground floor have no privacy- the lack of ventilation will force you to keep the windows open, and you could have people looking in.

The breakfast is sparse, and laid out rather uninspiringly, and affects your appetite adversely.

We were seriously underwhelmed.

Room Tip: Anywhere except road facing (too much traffic noise thru the night) and on the ground floor (bad ven...

The New Hotel Saint Lazare is a bit spartan, but very clean. The bed was comfortable and the shower relatively good sized. The staff speaks English and is very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very close to Metro line 13 which will take you to the Louvre. Galaries Lafayette is just a couple of blocks away. Nirvana Inde Restaurant is on the next street. The food there was fantastic.
