“Hidden opulance on the Champs-Elysees; slightly worn, but a glimpse of old fashioned luxury.”
Reviewed May 7, 2009

The Claridge is hard to spot amidst all the chaos and glimmering lights clamoring for attention along the bustling activity of the Champs Elysees, Paris' premier boulevard of status. If you miss the name on the building, which is easy to do, you will begin to appreciate the old-dame grandeur of the hotel as you walk through the doors and up the stairs into the large lobby. The place is consistent in both its overall historic importance, as clearly a longtime location of elegant hotelerie in Paris and also in its slightly worn appearance, which in the end is quite forgivable. The former is most noticed in the scale of the open spaces, many lounges and conference rooms, bizarre layout of hotel and large scale of the hotel rooms. The latter in the carpets, bedding and dated furniture.

My room was probably in the range of 60-70sqM, with a large king size bed and enough open space to have a small dance party. The high ceilings (15ft?) certainly helped! Several curtained windows opened out into the hotel's large interior courtyard; below was a dining area within the hotel and across and all around were other guest rooms. It all had quite a historic feeling. Also included in the room was a separate kitchen, separate entryway with wardrobe and large clean white bathroom with upscale toiletries. Like the rest of the hotel, the carpet, bed and bed linens were all slightly showing their age. But that was easy to overlook, as my attention was focused on this grand and historic feeling suite, located ON the Champs-Elysees! Quite simply the largest room I've ever stayed in amidst the 55 hotels in Paris I've stayed in over the years.

If you find a promotional or low rate, as I did, this is certainly a nice choice for a romantic and historic experience in Paris.

Stayed here 4 days. Reception was warm and welcoming. Fantastic position upper third of Champs Elysees, a stones throw from Arch De Triomphe. Great atmosphere, with plenty of people watching, but quiet apartment.
We walked to Louvre, Galleries Lafayette, Musee D'Orsay, and there was the City tour bus stop outside too.
Apartment was duplex; quite not what we expected, but was clean and homely, with good kitchen facilities and utensils, ironing board etc. Bathroom was good and clean, but extractor didn't work.
Breakfast buffet was expensive E17.50 each, but went next door to Brioche Doree for coffee and pain au chocolat for E3.
Great restaurants nearby of varying prices and quality, from Michelin 3 star at the Cinq in the Four Seasons George V to Citrus Etoile, an up and coming Michelin hopeful.
I would certainly stay here again.

We enjoy the freedom of serviced apartments over hotels in major cities and this was no exception.
We reserved a 'Deluxe' 2 bedroom apartment (which means it overlooks the Champs Elysees) but were disappointed to find that we had been put into a 'Garden View'. This may be fine in the summer months but we wanted the extra 'French experience' of the buzz of the Champs. No problem - a quick visit to reception and we were transferred into a 2 bedroom suite...and what a location! We weren't 'on' the Champs Elysees, we were 'in' it!
Great location for walking around this wonderful city (take some comfortable shoes). Lovely well known local restaurant 'Le Boeuf sur le Toit' just minutes away. Excellent boulangerie 2 minutes walk in the streets behind the hotel - for fresh morning baguette, croissant and pain au chocolat.
We could not fault this place and are sad to post this review, because others will now book it and it might be full next time we want to get in!

We were five friends going to Paris for a long-weekend girl trip. The purpose was to have a nice get away with a mixture of culture, shopping and party. Normally we don´t spend much time in the hotel on a trip like this, but this time the hotel was so great that we even went to the supermarket grocery shopping and had a dinner at home in the apartement one of the evenings. That happening in Paris is a real complimente to the hotel. The location on upper Champs Elysee is fantastic, and when we were there the christismas lights were still on which made the view even more spectacular.

Stayed in a one bedroom suite and it was terrific. Very spacious, especially for Paris. Bed was perfect, as were the linens and bedding. Our suite overlooked the Champs-Elysees, which never sleeps. We expected the noise, so it didn't matter to us; but if you are a light sleeper, take a room over the gardens. We never tired of looking out, and the Christmas lights made it magical.

Our only drawback was the lack of concierge services. There is no one to help you book tours or tickets, you are on your own. This lack is not mentioned on the hotel's web site, and as the hotel is four-star, it never occurred to us to verify. Not having concierge services negatively impacted our stay. The concierge at the Marriot Hotel next door was gracious and helped us plan a few events during our stay.

If you don't need or want concierge services, then this is a fantastic hotel. But if you are a tourist who needs assistance visiting Paris, then this is NOT the hotel for you.

I was a bit nervous about staying here after reading some of the reviews! It was a surprise for my mum's 70th birthday and we booked a 2 bedroom apartment. There were 5 adults and a 2 year old in our party.
Check in was fast and friendly, the girl on the desk could not have been more welcoming. The apartment looked more like a 3 bedroom to me. Downstairs was a small lounge area with a sofa bed and bathroom and separate toilet attached. Upstairs was a kitchen, a toilet, a twin room, a spacious lounge and a kingsize bedroom with ensuite bathroom. All gorgeous and just so much space. We have stayed in Paris before and the room was a box so we could not believe the size of this place.
It was cleaned well every day.
I am pretty fussy but I found it hard to fault this place! The only thing I didn't like was the rude doormen. Well I call them doormen but I think they are just there for decoration. They don't open the door for you and one day one of them was quite rude to me.
Saying that, the rest was all so good, it was easy to ignore these rude men.
The receptionists were so helpful. The price was amazing. Everyone thought we had won lotto when we said where the hotel was but we paid just £819 for 3 nights for all of us! total bargain.
The location was perfect! A supermarket across the road and a bakery a few doors down (don't go to the closest one, go to the one a few doors down).
DO NOT buy water from the bakery next door. My sister paid 5 euros for 2 very small bottles. The next day we bought 6 litres for just over 3 euros!
If we go to Paris again, I want to stay here and will be gutted if I can't as it was just wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!

Myself my three brothers and our father have just returned from a three nights stay 1st - 4th of October in this hotel. I had read a number of reviews of the hotel on this site so was reasonably confident but still had some reservations because of some negative reviews. I have to say that we had nothing negative to say about this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous at all times. Hotel area was very clean and classy. Our room was a duplex two bed suite on the top floor overlooking the courtyard. It was extremely quiet and private and well equipped. There were a few minor items that could have been a bit better but would not detract from our enjoyment of the hotel. The most impressive thing about this hotel is its location. For seeing the main sights in Paris it is exceptionally located.
Would definitely stay there again. If you want a comfortable flexible stay in a great location in Paris at reasonable cost then dont overlook this hotel.
