Often you can find that design led places feel cold or museum like, but this place is exactly the opposite. This hotel strikes the perfect balance between modern and artsy, yet welcoming and warm.
We arrived with plans to upgrade our deluxe room to an executive room, and a lady at reception very willingly offered to show us both rooms so we could decide. It turns out our deluxe room was the largest one they had, so it turned out to essentially be the same as the executive room we were shown. She was very honest about this, and suggested it was worth staying with our original room. This gave us a very good initial impression.
We found the service to be exceptional in terms of the attitudes of everyone there. We were met with a greeting, smile and offer to help from every person who worked there.
The rooms are beautiful - potentially one of our favourite hotel rooms we've stayed in. They are spacious, and again while design led, feel very welcoming and warm. One of the most important things is, you are greeted in your room by a Pierre Herme dessert :) YUM. There's nothing much else I can add here, that hasn't been said in other reviews.
Location is wonderful for walking around Paris. You are 30 seconds away from the Arc, 5mins away from Champs Elysee and about a 20min walk to the Eiffel Tower. The street is quiet, but commercial - which is perfect when you are in a city like Paris and want to be in the middle of the action.
The breakfast's are dangerous - while the selection is not as large as some of the bigger hotels, the food will satisfy all your pastry needs. Pierre Herme does his part in making us all a little bit bigger, with his baked goods and spreads. Do your tummy a favour and try the fresh strawberry juice. The actual restaurant (Michelin starred La Cuisine) reflects the rest of the hotel - comfy, warm and inviting. And again, the staff couldn't be nicer.
The highlight - we happened to be there on Bastille Day, and the hotel managed to type personalised 'Happy Bastille Day' cards to each guest in the hotel along with another Pierre Herme dessert. Really nice touch!
The only very minor negatives of our stay - they forgot to bring us our newspaper on the second day, there wasn't any bubble bath for the tub (though the shower gel is a perfect substitute) and there are no gift certificates available to buy as gifts at the spa which was disappointing and created a logistical hassle.
