“Gem of a hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2011

Absolutely fabulous stay at this hotel over Easter with my husband for our 10th wedding anniv. Great location within walking distance to the Arc and Champs. The manager Antoine Caffarena was a pleasure to deal with and so were the girls at the reception desk. Christine was particularly helpful in making reservations for dinner and at Moulin Rouge. Our room was on the 6th floor facing the street but was quiet enough for a major city. We had a fabulous view. The room was very modern and comfortable and quite spacious by European standards. The bathroom was uber modern with a very large sink and tub but the hand held shower and no shower curtain was difficult to use without getting the whole bathroom wet. Not sure how I could have washed my long hair crouched in the tub, with one hand, without soaking the entire bathroom! Luckily we just stayed for 3 nts so I refrained from the arduous task. Breakfast was excellent with all kinds of meats, cheeses and breads and cappuccinos could be had for the asking. The only glitch was trying to get some urgent work done on their computer. The touch screen computer was an absolute pain and the internet connection was so painfully slow that all the emails I sent bounced back so it was a complete waste of time! Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Paris apart from being charged triple by a cabbie which left a bad taste in our mouths. Another cabbie threw a hissy fit when I asked him to take one street and not the other. I returned to Paris after 25 yrs, having lived there for a while and it is still a very beautiful city but you do encounter a lot more people with attitude here than in other cities. A lot of people were very nice and helpful but a great deal more walked around with a chip on their shoulder so some things just don't change!

i very much enjoyed my stay here.it is a short walk from the Arc de Triomphe where there is a massive metro station but also has ternes metro a minute away.Yes,the lift is tiny and i could not understand why there was only 7 coathangers as total storage. No wardrobe or chest of drawers.
On the very positive side ,the large windows open fully, the air -con is superb and the shower has a plate size head with real pressure (no bath).
Next door is a fullt stocked supermarket ,the place to buy water ,wine, whatever.Opposite is Pauls that does a croissant, cafe and a freshly squeezed orange juice for a total of 5 euros.
The room is compact but one goes to Paris to get out and i would happily stay here again.

I travel a lot, and am relatively easy to please although I prefer 3-star hotels and up. This hotel has a LOT to like. Pluses:

1) GREAT location, easy walk to the Etoile metro and RER.
2) Lots of good restaurants to choose from nearby (DO try the Paul boulangerie across the street)
3) Friendly, polite helpful service (quick check-in; happily checked my bags for the day at the front desk)
4) Super-clean rooms. Rooms seem recently refurbished. Average size for Paris; definitely not huge by USA standards, but adequate to walk in easily and comfortably with luggage etc in the room.
5) LOVE the room lighting! Plenty of light to work by, and very sophisticated light switches (meaning they are all over the room for easy access).
6) SUPER shower---a drenching showerhead that really drenches (by Eco)! Consistent water temperature and wonderful water pressure
7) Excellent blow dryer, + all amenities (towels, soap, shampoo, in-room coffee, etc)
8) Nice continental breakfast with breads, croissant, fruit, yogurt, cereals, cold cuts, cheeses, coffee, juice (but too expensive: if not included in your rate, go instead to Paul's for a HUGE savings!)
9) Beds and pillows are of average comfort. Nice bedding (duvet). All very clean.
10) Free internet worked great. Said that "peer-to-peer downloads are blocked" but for all my purspoes, including checking email with attachments, it worked fine.

MINUSES:
1) Street side is VERY NOISY. If you are a light sleeper (as am I), you will have problems unless you have earplugs (I carry them with me ALWAYS, which is why I was able to sleep in Rm 443). But on the plus side, I couldn't hear any neighbor activity; the walls seemed reasonably sound-proof (it's just the front glass facing all the street noise that is a problem). And the street-side rooms have cute little sunporch-like alcoves for people-watching.
2) Courtyard side is likely quieter, but courtyard is not very attractive (full of equipment, weeds, disheveled). The hotel really needs to spend some time/money improving the courtyard view.
3) Extremely small elevator----and only one of them.
4) Shower setup is really only suitable for couples, singles, or VERY good friends---no door, and frosted glass allows plenty of see-through. (Toilet is in a private WC.) Also, strangely in such a nice shower, there is no soap-holder, so you have no choice but to keep soap and/or shampoos on the shower floor (a disaster waiting to happen); a soap holder or shelf could easily be added on the same wall as the handheld shower. Or maybe this was only the situation in my shower (#443).
5) Super-expensive laundry prices---and no place in the room to lay out laundry to dry, if you need to handwash.

Had the sleep quality been better I would have given this a 5. I will very likely stay here again IF I can get a quiet courtyard room, as it was nice enough and I don't mind the courtyard view.

Very central location, can walk to all paris locations. Close to Ternes and Charles de guille etoile stations. Rooms are small and the shower arrangement is interesting - no wall or door. Ok for a couple. Receptionist staff very helpful. Amazingly quiet for a such a busy area. Loved the free Wifi. Paul's bakery across the road very nice

Stayed for the Paris Marathon & found the location to be pretty perfect. Couple of minutes walk to the Arc & a major metro station. Staff were very friendly & helpful. The rooms are not the biggest but are well fitted out and very comfortable. Very well sound proofed so no problems with noise despite being central. Plenty of shops, restaurants & bars near-by. Overall very good.
