“Excellent and enjoy !”
Reviewed August 23, 2009

I have stayed for 4 nights. Location is excellent and it is easy to find when you come out from the Gare De Lyon station.
The room is very good and it is redesigned in 2009
Room is modern and clean. But you need to pay if you want to use wifi in the room
Breakfast buffet is good.
I booked the hotel via the agent and it cost EUR 79 per night.
The price is acceptable for such new renovation hotel.

We stayed here two nights, at the start and end of a Normandy tour. The tour operator booked the rooms, so I don't know the cost. This is a railroad station hotel, supposedly of modern style, very well located, close to restaurants and transit, but in need of total remodeling. Rooms are smallish, not well appointed, somewhat noisy, but fairly clean. The air conditioning blew only warm air the first night. I called twice to complain, someone finally came to the room and said it was fine. It wasn't. On the second night, in a different room, it worked a little better. Breakfast was OK, but some liquid from a leak in the ceiling dripped on my arm as I ate. We changed tables. The waiters never apologized. The front desk staff was slow, rude, unhelpful and sometimes argumentative. I would suggest you go elsewhere.

Booked this hotel as we were travelling to Zermatt by train (just as good value and just as quick as the plane to Geneva!) by Eurostar from London and were booked on the 08.00 TGV to Lausanne. I reserved the room when passing through Gare de Lyon on my Paris - Marseille trip in November 2008 (see Marseille Ibis review).

We arrived very late having come on the 7pm train from London, and so despite the convenient RER service, took a taxi from Gare du Nord, but the driver did not know how to get to the drop off point immediately in front of the hotel (even though I could see which way he would have to drive to get to it!) so we had to walk from further away.

The welcome was perfectly good (better than some reviews suggest), and likewise the room was clean and more than adequate, despite clearly being in need of a bit of updating. It was lovely and quiet considering its busy city centre travel hub location (and I don't mean that because youcan't hear the trains which don't disturb me at all).

A very good hotel in a great location so you can go every where with the metro of Paris.Modern hotel with very good and clean inside places. The room was very good and comfortable for two people but i think that the colors of that is looking old above the other places of the hotel.the carpet of the room was dirty but in the other hand every day they were cleaning the bath and bed.As i said the hotel is near the station Gare de Lyon witch is good for the transports by is a little bit noise by listening the trains.it isnt so noise to weak you up but you listen it .the breakfast was very good and the same as all hotels have.the staff was very helpfull when i need it

The location is perfect. Right next to Gare de Lyon, it makes arriving and leaving Paris a breeze and is convenient for all sorts of metro lines and close to the Bastille, which is a much better alternative to St. Germain's tourist traps for dinner.

That's where the good news ends. The rooms are small, but have really dirty carpets and bed covers. The sheets were relatively clean, with the occasional spot, but acceptable. The bathroom was a disaster. The wall around the toilet was splattered with various things I'd rather not think about. Our tub didn't drain and the options for water temperature were either dripping cold water or roaring scalding hot water, with no intermediate. We asked the front desk to fix the tub so that we could shower in peace, and they managed to fix the draining problem but not the temperature. We spent midnight-9 am in the room so managed to survive, but I would never stay there again or recommend this place to anyone.

The Hôtel Mercure Gare de Lyon is directly connected to the train station, convenient to transportation and happily free of the expected rumbles of trains and intrusions of transients that you might expect for the location. Parking is located beneath the station in the Mediterranian lot, and the hotel is reached by walking out the front entrance of the station and in a separate entrance.

There were queues at checkin caused by tours getting blocks of rooms, but the staff was friendly and tried hard. There are elevators up to the restaurants and rooms, and the hotel is clean and stylish. The room was very good: comfortable 'real' double bed (not two singles pushed together), good workspace, complementary water and coffee service, a safe and minibar, and nice selection of channels on the TV. The bathroom was clean and the shower / tub had good hot water and pressure. The wireless internet service worked well.and I liked having extra power outlets.

Breakfast was very good: a large selection of buffet meats, cheeses, cereals, several hot items, breads, and juices. A caraf of coffee is left at the table. There are a number of good seafood restaurants in walking distance across the street from the station, as well as fast food within the station itself. Bags can be left overnight in personal lockers if you are going to be gone for a day after a stay.

This is a very convenient and well-apopointed hotel in an ideal location for making transportation connections on the TGV out into France.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and we thought it was a really good hotel and great value for money and we had a really good stay. Reflecting on our short break in Paris while sitting in the airport waiting for our flight to come home we both agreed that it had been a really good choice of hotel and we couldn't think of anything that we could have complained about.

The room we had didn't have a view but that didn't really matter to us as we knew we would be out for most of the time and we actually enjoyed the quietness of the room when we returned to the hotel. We had a great night's sleep on all 3 nights. The furnishings in the rooms are a bit dull in colour but it was very clean and on the whole, fine and we had a lovely bathroom and a very comfortable king sized bed. The room was serviced very well with toiletries and towels (2 bath and 2 hand) renewed everyday. There was no chest of drawers in the room but we had a big walk in wardrobe with shelf space so it was adequate. All the public areas in the hotel are very clean and smart, and very modern, and the staff were extremely nice and very helpful and all the staff we came across were French which was nice! The breakfast was superb, far better than we expected so this was a very pleasant surprise particularly when you consider the price of eating and drinking out in Paris. The check-in and check-out of the hotel was very efficient ( we actually got our room at 11.30am - check out time is 12 noon) and they have a good high-tech locker system for storing your luggage so you don't have to worry about it lying around in a storage room where anyone could interfere with it. The location of the hotel is excellent, right next door to the metro (which is really cheap to get around on) so easy to go and see all that Paris has. All in all we had a very pleasant stay and I would recommend this hotel.
