Great location and incredible views!

Review of Hotel Gavarni
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 19, 2019
We stayed two nights at the hotel. Every front desk associate was warm and friendly. The views from our Eiffel room were incredible. The room was spacious and the hotel charming. We're so glad we found this gem!

i was going to use hotel tonight or hotwire to get a hotel. they advertised hotel gavarni as one with a special price so i figured that i may as well call the hotel directly and see if they'll give me the same price. i thought i was doing a favor but they seemed to feel like they were doing me one. anyway, we went and paid slightly above the hotwire rate, but ok. the hotel is pretty and on a great street. the 16th arr is like home to me and i felt right at home on a little side street off of rue de passy. service was great, they are so nice! really, everyone we spoke to was nice, helpful, courteous, etc.
however-- and i'm sorry to write this because the service was so nice-- the room is really not that great. since they supposedly gave us a special rate, we got the classique room, which is their most basic. it's tiny and i mean tiny. the bathroom is smaller than a closet. you can barely stand between the 10 cm wide sink and the toilet. i'm a small person and i banged into everything: door, toilet, shower. shower is miniscule. the walls are paper thin. you can hear everything in the next room. i went down to tell the front desk but i said i'm embarrassed to complain. it was 10 at night, not so late, and the people in the room next to us weren't even shouting or making noise on purpose. they were just talking but it was as if we were in the same room. the guy at the front desk said he was sorry but that was the 'classique' room.
also, no a/c, so if you open your window then you can hear everything on the street. a car, a motorcycle. it also feels like they're in your room.
in sum. lovely, quaint hotel. very clean and good service. but the room was really not that good and we paid 130 euros for it, so it's not like we were paying hostel prices.
nice place, but probably not going back there because of the room.

Room tip: don't take the classique rooms

We stayed 8 nights in this charming French hotel and we loved it. Its location cannot be beat. Walking distance to Metro Stations + RER. The 16th arr. is more upscale, clean and very safe. Pleasant narrow streets lined with trendy boutiques & cafés. At least 2 Monoprix down Rue de Passy. Eiffel Tower is always crowded and busy but many tours start and end there so we didn't mind the 15 minute walk with glimpses of the Eiffel.
I've read the reviews so the small rooms and bathrooms were expected. The towels smelled heavenly of lavender. The lid of the toilet would never stay up so one has to improvise and sling a bath towel to hold it upright ;p. Shampoo & Conditioner were given when requested. Although we could occasionally hear voices from other rooms, there are only few rooms per floor so it wasn't happening a lot. Safety deposit box and mini fridge were useful. Availed the daily breakfast at the hotel which saved us a lot of time in the morning when getting started. Good coffee / hot chocolate served with the usual French fare. Cooked eggs were offered by a Filipino gentleman who serviced the buffet. At night, the breakfast room is unused so we could comfortably lay out our take-out dinner on nights too tired to explore. The staff let us use their silverware and even heat up food that needs warming. The reception staff also acts as the concierge, very accommodating in printing out tour vouchers we booked online. Saved us from standing in line at the attraction.

Loved this place. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. They would make reservations with the cabs on request. Spoke English which was a big help. Very close to the Effiel tower. Great sushi place right across the street as well. I would absolutely recommend hotel one of the best I've stayed at.

I and my wife stayed in this hotel end of May until June 2019 for one week for vacation. The Hotel and the room is old but not too bad considering we were in the room only at night. We took Junior Suite which is not too big but just as big as Superior Deluxe in other hotel. Bathroom is small as well as shower it only fit one person at one time in time. Bring your own shower gel as well because the hotel provide only tiny tube of shower gel.

Lift is very tiny it only fit 2 persons and a small luggage at one time, but it is very unique to us and make us smile eveytime we use it. It stops only at floor 5 and a half so we need to use the stair to go to our at level 5.
Receptionist change everyday but they were nice and helpful: Kamal, Eva, Nabil (?), Dante etc.

One neighbour room made loud and noisy music one midnight made us could not sleep well but that was not the hotels fault, of course.
Will recommend to our friends about this unique hotel ...

Very small double room but shabby chic decor. Lovely feeling, very comfy bed. Room and lift were really small, can't fit my luggages. Need to use stairs to carry my luggages. Very near the eiffel Tower and near metro. Lots of luxury shops and restaurants nearby. Friendly staff. Will recommend to friends.
