“Great value and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2010

I picked this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and I was very pleased with my choice. Stayed at a double room with a balcony on the 5th floor. Hotel rooms are generally small in Paris anyway so I was prepared for the size. While small, the room was cozy and very clean. It had a fridge, a desk, a small closet, and a safe. The bathroom was modern and clean. The shower was amazingly good, especially after a long day roaming around Paris during a heat wave. I like the built-in hairdryer and the slippers that were provided. The only thing I found a little odd was the absence of shampoo but it was easy enough to remedy since there was a grocery/drugstore across the street from the hotel.

Breakfast was substantial - croissants, rolls (the French make the best bread!), different jellies, yogurt, cereals, ham, cheeses, juices, coffee, and tea. Definitely enough to prepare you for a full day in the city.

The location was good as it was about a block away from the Rue de Boulets stop on the 9 line. It was also about a 5-minute walk (or less, depending on your pace, in which case ours was leisurely) to Nation. Nation has both the RER and the regular metro lines to choose from. We found ourselves using mostly the 1 line (heading to La Defense) since they had stops going to the Musee d' Louvre, Champs Elysees, and other major areas of interest.

The service was excellent and the staff, especially front desk/reception, spoke very good English. They did their best to accommodate our needs and requests - from providing converters to talking to our shuttle service for our ride back to the airport.

Overall, I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel and would come back again.

An amazing find, I would highly recommend this hotel and will be returning here on my next trip to Paris. It’s located in east central Paris near to Nation metro which is very convenient if you are coming from Gare Lyon (south) or Gare de Nord (north).

The hotel has recently been redone and the common spaces and rooms are very modern and well appointed. Upon check-in we were upgraded to a balcony room on the 5th floor which providing sweeping views to the West down Avenue Voltaire. Our room also had three French doors leading out to a massive, wrap-around balcony where you could drink champagne (kept cold in the in-room fridge) while watching the sun set.

Other highlights:
-Very good shower
-Continental breakfast included (in a very cramped space)
-Friendly concierge
-Walking distance to some good non-touristy restaurants
-Free French and British papers
-Slippers in the room

PS - Make sure to touch the ceilings in the room!

The staff at this Hotel was VERY Friendly and Accommodating. We loved the neighborhood, which is on the outer edge of the Marais, where real Parisians live and not so many tourists were staying. There were gourmet bakeries and delis all around us, a metro stop within a block, and a major metro/RER stop only a couple of more blocks away. We got everywhere we wanted to go quickly because of the transpo access. The breakfast at the hotel was excellent, and they also serve a free welcome drink in the afternoon. The staff obviously cares about their hotel very much. They were happy to store our bags for us prior to check in since we arrived early, and also after check out since we were leaving late. We had a great stay, and this will always be our place to stay when we visit Paris. Thanks for a great stay!

We needed to stay in a hotel for one night before our rental apartment became available and chose this one because of the great TripAdvisor reviews. We were not disappointed. Although our room was tiny, it was spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed and great shower. The manager could not have been more accomodating, from storing our luggage until our room was ready, recommending restaurants, making us coffee the next morning as we did not make it downstairs in time for breakfast, and calling us a taxi to get to our apartment. This does not always happen at American hotels. If you stay here, try Les Gallopins restaurant a few blocks away. Excellent food and service, and filled mainly with local residents. And there's a wonderful bakery across the street for a coffee and croissant.

It sits over on the East side of Paris in a lovely neighborhood...so quiet!! Service was impeccable..Professional yet friendly. I stayed two weeks and I hated to leave. I've never had an hotel do my ironing! The staff helped with traveling, how to say certain French phrases, and listened as you told about your great day!
"greengodess" slammed the fact that it wasn't near good transportantion. Je me permits de! The Metro station was a few steps away on two central lines and by the second day I didn't need a map, I could just get on and go everywhere! I even went to Roland Garros for the French Open tennis tournament and never changed lines.
Lovely, quiet hotel with incredible ambience and the best hotel staff ever!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Grand Hotel Francais for 7 nights. The hotel is very modern and clean. I'd consider it to be more than 3 stars. The bed was very comfortable, great shower, walls are almost sound proof. Awesome wifi connections. Our room was a reasonable size for European standards -small but very cozy. Breakfast consist of: croissants, danishes, french rolls, variety of yogurts, many cheeses, cereals, ham & salami, juice, coffee & tea. The servers were super friendly. The hotel is in a good location, 2 minute away from the closest metro station that allows connections to all major must-go-to places. Streets are very quiet at night so you don't have to worry about noise. There are small grocery stores, brasseries, cafes, restaurants, boulangerie, pharmacies - all within a block radius. Would come and stay here in a heart beat. Great value!

Nice choice for a Paris weekend - great service, rooms well furnished, free wifi, superior room had windows on 2 sides so lots of light, not noisy, air con, not much else you could ask for. Only downside is its location on the metro routes, which is not ideal, but then again only a 15 minute walk to Place de Bastille, so metro issue not a deal breaker.
