The rooms were lovely, clean and well serviced with shampoo etc provided. I had two rooms on two occasions over 5 nights on level ground and two. Depending where you are in the hotel, noise from other residents coming and going as well as outside the hotel varied, but I slept well. Good location and wonderfully helpful friendly staff. A kettle and tea/coffee bags were most appreciated. I inadvertently left my duty free alcohol but they kept it and had it ready for me on my return. Great location re restaurants, boulangeries, bars etc. Breakfast has a great range and the woman responsible for managing the breakfast room is delightful.

Just arrived home from an amazing stay. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendliest receptionist ever he told us where to go and how to get there. We had a second floor room which was immaculate. Breakfast was good and we were even given a bottle of wine in our room to celebrate my partners birthday. Would definitely stay here again.

The rooms were nice but small - what else is new in a large and old town? The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is near Metro - several stops including an RER station. There are nice restaurants, boulangeries and bars nearby, as well. I would recommend it but would try for a room higher up as there is some traffic noise on the side street.

Room Tip: Try for a room higher up as there is some traffic noise on the side street.

Grand Hotel Francais is a wonderful find! Very convenient for the Nation metro and a 15 minute stroll to the Bastille area. We only stayed the one night but were made to feel so welcome. The room was small but very well furnished and spotlessly clean. I had requested a bath tub and this wish was fulfilled. The hotel also presented us with chocolates and wine to celebrate our Anniversary which was a very kind touch. The staff go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your time and Vanessa on Reception was particularly friendly and anxious to ensure our stay was everything we were hoping for. Her sense of humour was also appreciated. Breakfast was more than adequate with a good choice. We look forward to returning and will be recommending it to all our friends.

We booked this hotel following the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. We were aware from the comments that the rooms would be quite small. As we planned on spending very little time awake in the room, that did not bother us. The bed was comfortable and the soundproofing perfectly good despite overlooking the main road. On our first night we went straight out for dinner after unpacking and on our return asked for extra pillows, the lazy guy on reception told us they had none (he was far too busy on his mobile phone). The next day we were given extra pillows which due to my arthritis meant I could sleep far better. Despite arriving on June 1st, we found Paris and the hotel to be quite busy. If you arrive by metro (do not waste your money on taxis, get a visitor card for transport on your arrival and you will fond it well worth it) leave the Rue de Boulets station via the Cite Voltaire exit and turn back on yourself at the top of the steps and the hotel is about 150 yards away. We walked to the Nation area the first evening (and back again) when we could have used the Metro and saved our aching feet. The shower is first class and although the bathroom is an exercise in packing things in, everything you need is there. Would we stay here again if we were in Paris, absolutely!

Room Tip: Pay for a larger room if that is important to you

This is a nice hotel, but the rooms are (as is so often the case in Paris) minute. We booked a "superior" room and just as well. There was hardly room to sit on the toilet and the shower door was rather low, but having said that, the room had everything we needed, it was not too noisy, the bed was a decent size and it was spotlessly clean. The staff on the front desk were all very helpful and once we got used to the small room, we were very happy, particularly as we spent all day every day out and about in Paris. The location near the Nation metro station was good, with easy access to the metro network. All-in-all, considering the price at around $200 a night, we were well satisfied.

Room Tip: Get a superior room - it is worth spending the extra.

My husband and I spent the night here before flying out of Paris, and were absolutely thrilled with it. The location was great; easy to get to from the metro, even with suitcases, and it was a pleasant area to walk around in the evening, with lots of choices of cafes and brasseries nearby for a meal. The small room was fine for a short stay; there was plenty of hanging space so we could have unpacked if we'd stayed longer; the bathroom was tiny but extraordinarily well planned and functional. We also appreciated the fact that there was a lift. The staff were all extremely helpful, friendly and efficient; they suggested leaving our bags for the day before we even asked, and organised a taxi for the airport. (We could have taken the metro but after discussing it, decided that the fixed price taxi was easier at rush hour on the start of a long weekend, especially as we were facing a 23 hour flight. We appreciated their advice on this.) We left feeling that we were saying goodbye to friends!
