Hotel Les Jardins du Marais

Booked this on basis of existing TripAdvisor reports and very happy with it. Emailed ahead to ask for adjacent rooms, and was asked to request that on arrival - and while that was not our ideal answer at the time, everything turned out fine when we go there. They arranged a double and a twin room with inter-connecting door, which was exactly what we needed for our family.

Metro very close, and top floor room in the Eiffel building gave us part views of both the eponymous tower and Sacre Coeur, but others along our side of the corridor would not have had that due to building opposite. 10 minutes walk from the main tourist bus routes, which was fine.

When we found that this was the crew hotel for Singapore Airlines, it confirmed everything we had felt. That sort of company would not choose a hotel without good research having been done. Aircrew I know in other airlines never go to bad hotels!

Room could have been a bit bigger, but frankly we were in Paris to "do the tourist thing" and we were out all the time!

Staff all spoke English, were very friendly and helpful with directions etc. Room was decent size but dont expect a view of anything but court yard. Breakfast pretty standard, Resturant was a bit pricey but I guess you get what you pay for as service was very good and food was excellant!! Location is about 20 minute walk from Notre Dame but only real downside is the area around the hotel appears a little ropey although we didnt have or see any trouble (maybe me just being a snob).

We picked this hotel cause we didn't want to stay in a touristy area, but this place is in a nice neighborhood and close to many cafes, and walking distance to many more cafes. Also very close to metro station. The rooms are pretty roomy, the bathroom is small. Our room had a small microwave and some dishes that made it handy. the lobby is hip and the courtyard is nice! our building was under construction, and the street was under construction too, but didn't bother us.

This Hotel is made up in a series of buildings overlooking an internal courtyard, this looks all very quaint and you would think very quiet, unfortunately if your room overlooks the courtyard your sleep will be disturbed by the various noises coming from it. Our room (254) was fairly standard with a very nice bathroom, but nothing to write home about. Overall this property is a decent four star Hotel but in my opinion luck caracter. Very close to the Hotel there are several bars and brasseries where you can have breakfast or a meal at a very competitive price.

Room Tip: If you stay at this property make sure that your room does not overlook the internal courtyard.

Good hotel with good transport link. Rooms spacious and very friendly staff just one minor negative and that is that some items were not supplied in the rooms like a simple spoon for using when making your tea, however very good for a room only basis as microwave supplied in rooms.

The hotel is a fairly average Paris stay. Not a place you'd want to spend lots of time hanging around, but fairly adequate if your plans are more for a place just to kip down.

LOCATION
Clearly not the Marais. Not too far, but in an area markedly different from chic, bustling Marais. Be prepared to travel to any decent restaurants, cafes or attractions.

COMFORT
Clean. Not the nicest interiors, could do with a refresh, but nothing offensive.

STAFF
Adequate, if not entirely friendly.

AMENITIES
Bar pleasant. Outdoor courtyard private and pretty. Overpriced breakfast, we avoided.

OTHERS
Fairly thin walls so quite noisy.

We stayed because of a Eurostar offer. We wouldn't particularly rush back. Probably would prefer to spend a fraction more for a St Germaine room or a place in the Marais proper.
