“A good experience overall”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2012

We spent three nights at this hotel and were overall quite pleased with it. It's in a great location, very close to a lively, hip area, but tucked around a corner so that it's quite at night. We didn't have nay problems with street noise; you just have to know how to properly shut the window. The lady at the front desk was extremely helpful. She went out of her way to help us find good places to enjoy the Paris night life. The rooms are a bit tight, but that's expected in Paris. The one thing that was particularly annoying though was that the washroom door didn't close properly. Don't bother paying the extra money for the breakfast either as there are plenty of places around the corner to have a very decent breakfast for far less.

This hotel is perfect for those looking for a relatively inexpensive base to explore Paris. Others have described it quite well: small rooms and bath, but very clean and functional. All the staff are all fantastically helpful, speak English, and are very friendly. The tiny elevator has that sort of charm that small Paris hotels are so well known for. Best to ride it with only one person at a time if you have luggage. My wife and I always used the stairs to get to our third floor room after we ad settled in.

The hotel includes free wifi, which we usually require to keep in touch for our jobs. It worked okay but not great in our room, though the signal was very strong in the lobby and breakfast room. One day, it failed completely, but the woman at the desk was determined to get it working for us, which she did about a half-hour after we told her of the problem.

We had chosen a superior room with a courtyard "view", meaning no view, really. But, it was amazingly quiet on that side of the hotel, except for the occasional loud argument that some French-speaking person would have occasionally. While small, the room was fine for the night and for the occasional check-in during the day. If you like to lounge at a fancy hotel, then go elsewhere. This hotel is for experiencing Paris.

As others noted, the location is spectacular, with many nearby art galleries, the 6th century abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, dozens of cafes and brasseries within 5 minutes walk. We especially enjoyed the nearby restaurant Le Petite Cour, about a block away.

For our outings, we often used the St. Michel RER station for its convenience, providing access to visit Versailles, or go to the airport, for example. It is just 7-8 minutes walk away. We also took the RER C line to visit the lesser known, but excellent, impressionist museum, Marmotten-Monet. The Mabillon and Saint-Germain stations are closer (2-4 minutes), but didn't usually provide access to our destinations. We also walked quite a bit ... The Lourve, Tuileries, Jardin de Luxembourg are within 15-20 minutes away; the Seine is about 5 minutes walk.

There is also a "mini-mall" across the street from the hotel for those needing to visit the Gap store, or grab some food at one of the restaurants.

Hotel Le Clement is nothing fancy, but it works, is comfortable, and everyone is pleasant. I would never have chosen it myself, but fortunately, it was recommended by a coworker, and it was an excellent recommendation.

Room Tip: Courtyard view rooms are quiet, but have no real view.

I see a lot of people using the word charming which I agree but is often another word for small. I thought a room for 3 people was small. You could not fit three large check in suitcases and three carry ons in the room we were in. That was a problem since the room was small even without bags. There is a large closet but I do not always like to unpack just to be able to walk around the room.
The location is really great as is the staff.
Also, I would have wanted to know that my room had a "charming" french style shower which means the shower head is not on the wall so you have to hold it while you shower.
Also, being in such a great location, it was loud at night as were the maids in the morning.

This charmer in the St. Germain-des-Pres area of Paris suited our needs perfectly. My sister and each had a big-enough, comfortable room. As we artists, we loved the art-friendly, gallery-filled location, a short walk from the Seine and the Bateau Boats. We loved the teeny but efficient lift, the sweet lobby, and the fact that there was a WC on the first floor so we didn't have to go all the way back up to our rooms. All the desk clerks we dealt with were professional and friendly. We would definitely stay here again!

After reading the reviews and looking at the pictures I chose this hotel for a 2 night stay in Paris. The location is brilliant and in a lively and classy area. From the outside the hotel looks fabulous and the reception is nice. The staff were also helpful and pleasant. Our room however was not nice. I decided to pay a little extra and and book a classic room instead of a standard which overlooked the courtyard. We were on the 3rd floor and it was so dark and dismal. The room was small but it was very depressing and certainly not a room where we could relax before dinner so we stayed away all day and just used it as a base. Can't imagine what a standard room is like! The hotel was fully booked so no chance to change and pay for an upgrade. The bathroom was also small but it is Paris and the rooms of a boutique hotel tend to be on the smaller side. Having said that, it was clean. The air con is controlled by reception which was another problem. If the temperature fluctuates then you have to keep phoning reception to turn it on and off! Do beware, the pictures of some of the rooms look much nicer than they are in reality. We were disappointed with this hotel and had much higher expectations.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter but dark.

This small hotel has small rooms that are simply but tastefully decorated with modern bathrooms. A charming location in the Latin Quarter near the Mabillon metro station and Blvd. St. Germaine. A lively street view includes the Eglise St. Sulpice. The staff is always willing to help, are courteous and provide a warm welcome. Many restaurants in the area with typical Parisian food, and nice shops and cafes.

After much searching I was suprised to find this very charming small hotel across from the St. Germain Marche. Terrific location. This is a busy and noisy area but the energy is terrific. We reserved a Suite room which consisted of 2 bedrooms with one bath. One room with double bed and flat screen TV and the other a single also with a flat screen. Ample room for our bags. The bathroom is a bit small and the tub tiny but very French and it does the job. The room was immaculate and we loved the welcoming lady at the front desk. THere is a comfortable lobby area with a fireplace. We chose to walk the block to Rue Buci for breakfast as there is an assortment of nice bakeries at a lower price. Some people complain of the street noise at night but it didn't bother us. The location and price is superb if you want the St. Germain experience. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We were a couple with an adult son. Book the 2 room suite. Our deal was 175 Euro on the internet w...
