I was very impressed with this well-priced hotel in the heart of Saint Germain, just a couple of blocks from the Odéon metro stops. I have stayed at several hotels in this price range in Paris, and it was a cut above all the others. My friend and I had a room with two twin beds on the top floor and it was spacious and charming, with a high ceiling with beams and a view of roofs and chimney pots. The bathroom was tiny (what else is new in Paris) but completely updated and perfectly functional, with an excellent shower. The street we were on was very quiet and even though there was some exterior work going on outside, it didn't disturb us at all. The breakfast downstairs in the "cave" was a few notches above what you'd get in most Paris hotels in this price bracket. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again and I'd recommend it to friends and family visiting Paris.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Saint Paul for a week at the end of August. This is a small boutique hotel (31 rooms) in a 400 year old building so every room is unique and different, although the bathrooms are modern and up to date. The rooms are super clean and show the good care the owners take with this hotel. The hotel is very conveniently located within walking distance to Notre Dame and Luxemburg Gardens and it is close to Metro and major RER lines. The rooms are all air conditioned and the air conditioning was so quiet we didn't know it was really on!
The hotel is on a side street and is very quiet at night. There is a small lift in case you don't like taking the stairs.
Breakfasts are served in a great underground stone "cave"--you can literally feel the history of this building! Breakfasts were great with fresh croissants and bread, cheeses, yogurts, eggs--as much as you could want.
Staff was very friendly and helpful---no snooty French here!! They gave us great recommendations for local inexpensive restaurants and were always available for directions and suggestions.
And an added bonus---directly across the street was a self laundry so no more wet clothes hanging in the bathroom. This is especially nice if you are planning on traveling for a while.
Queen bed was not your typical 2 twins pushed together with a lump in the middle but rather was a very comfortable queen mattress.
This was a great find and we do not hesitate to highly recommend it!

I joined my wife who had spent two days here already. We stayed 3 more nightd joined by her sister and husband. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The location is great with easy walking to isle de la cite a And the Latin quarter, with a 3 minute walk to the Odeon metro stop and a three minute walk from the RER C train stop at Luxembourg Gardens for easy acces to and from the airports. The breakfast was the same every day with no variety in fruit or pastry, so a stay of more than two days makes breakfast a chore. However it is not included in the room so you can go out if that is a concern. The only drawback was WiFi access. They use WiFi pass which forces you to register each 24 hour period. When you first register it sends you a username and password of random letters and numbers. These are good for a 24 hour period, then you must reregister for the next 24 hours. My laptop did fine remembering the link and connection, but the iPad lost the link just by going to sleep. This would not stop us coming back, but be ready for a hassle to keep connected.

Dear Sir,

We thank you for taking the time to review our hotel.

For the Trip Advisor community, we must correct the erroneous information, please forgive us: from Luxembourg station to Charles de Gaulle Airport, you have to take RER B, not C .
RER C stops at St Michel Notre-Dame and leads you to Versailles Castle, for example.

Regarding the Wifi: since 2004, we have experienced 3 different companies, for our customers' satisfaction. Two years ago, considerable sums have been invested to change the whole system and offer the best free connection to our guests. As you know, this is a 17th century building and walls are thick. Passman is the Company that has installed the High Speed Wifi here. It is one of the best Wifi suppliers for hotels in France.

We have asked Passman whether it would be possible to extend the validity to 48 hours and they replied negatively. Hotels that offer an uninterrupted Wifi connection do not respect French security rules. Consequently, the system will probably be the same when you will come and visit us again at the St Paul Rive Gauche. We must say that very few clients complain about it. The form that you have to fill out to renew the passwords is short : name, surname, country, email address, terms agreement..."et voilà! " :-)

Looking forward to meeting you again,

Kind regards

Three elderly ladies spent four nights in wonderful Paris. The hotel was in the area of Luxemburg. We found the staff very friendly, nothing a trouble, the room was adequate and on the ground floor which helped up as although there is a lift. The breakfast which was included was excellent. The hotel is only a short walk to Luxemburg Gardens and transport including one of the Hop on Hop off bus routes. I would certainly stay there again

This great little hotel has it all for budget-consious traveller: clean and comfy and very helpful staff. Only a few blocks from the metro and (thanks to hotel staff tip) a great restaurant. The hotel itself serves a decent breakfast. I will definitely stay here again. It made my Paris trip so much more enjoyable and affordable--more shopping!

Room Tip: the top floor is quieter.

Breakfast was very good. Olivier on the Front Desk was excellent with recommendations that made our trip an unforgetable experience. Very convenient to subway. Olivier recommended a doctor when one of our party became ill on the weekend. Care was immediate and resolved the medical issue. We will return soon.

My husband and I stayed at the historic Hotel St Paul in August for a week, and definitely enjoyed our stay. The upper level rooms are very quiet. Our room was a good size, with big windows that opened onto the street. The location is ideal, and near restaurants and Jardin Luxemburg, which is a lovely park with beautiful gardens. Our favorite cafe (Cafe Rostand) is directly across from the entrance to this park. Note that there is a laudramat across the street, which came in handy toward the end of our stay. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: ground floor is noisier, since it is near the front desk of the hotel. The 3rd floor on the street w...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Hotel Saint-Paul Rive Gauche belongs to a Franco-British family, hoteliers for 4 generations, who have made the hotel a marriage of French elegance and English comfort. Situated on the line of Paris' former outer wall under Philippe Auguste, this 17th century building was once the home of Franciscan monks. The 31 bedrooms are colourful and range in style from the modern - vibrant flowered fabrics - to the traditional - exposed beams and elegant opaque curtains. There are beamed ceilings, faux ostrich bed-heads, clever corner armoires, even two baldaquin beds beneath the high ceilings of the lower floors. Entirely renovated in 2015, this boutique-hotel is close to everything, in the heart of the action, but in a quiet little street. The Luxembourg gardens vicinity and the so many walking distance sites like the Sorbonne, Notre-Dame cathedral, the Pantheon, Cluny museum and the Louvre, make the Hotel Saint-Paul Rive Gauche a convenient pied-à-terre for enjoying the city. ... more   less
