“Lovely Hotel in Superb Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2012

4 of us stayed at the Hotel in June 2012 for 4 nights and everyone us was extremely pleased we selected the Hotel. From the moment we checked in we received excellent service and the advice on local places to eat was very accurate. The location is absolutely brilliant for shops, restaurants, bars and of course the wonderful historical places i.e. Notre Dame only 10 minutes walk. The location is also very safe; one night we were feeling energetic and walked back to the Hotel from the Eiffel Tower (3.5 miles) and never felt threatened once. It was also very pleasant to talk to other Hotel guests who had been recommended to stay here, clearly other visitora had had the same experience as us. We would definitely recommend!!

We absolutely lucked out-first visit to Paris. Been to France but never Paris-What a charming and friendly atmosphere-we had a small room overlooking the street-for us no problem-only thing-I missed my cats and wanted Sputnik (the hotel cat) to visit but he was too busy. However-he is there to pet and cuddle when you're lonely. Hotel is quiet, clean and well furnished in period style; wonderful European style breakfasts and if you want a treat go to Boullion Racine for dinner. Will I go back-DEFINITELY!!

Room Tip: no pool but who needs one! close to Notre Dame Cathedral, department store MonoPrix a few clocks aw...

Dear Clients,

We thank you for your nice review...Sputnik was our late lamented cat who went to Paradise 2 years ago. You probably meant "Skype the cat". He is one of our best assistant, actually, who works hard ( sometimes, he sleeps in my chair but do not tell anyone)

We will be very happy to see you again, as well : DEFINITELY! :-)
Kindest regards

I stayed at the Hotel Saint Paul for a week at the beginning of June. I couldn't have asked for a better visit. The hotel staff are friendly, courteous, and professional. They answered my pre-trip questions promptly, and arranged for a taxi to pick me up at the station. They were more than happy to speak English, encourage my faltering French, or switch back and forth, and provided directions and restaurant reviews at the drop of a hat. The hotel itself is beautiful. Old stone walls, ancient beams, and everything beautifully appointed and neat as a pin. My room was certainly small by American standards - which require 2 queen-size beds for a single traveler - but it was clean and comfortable and lacked nothing. I stayed on the 4th floor in the back, overlooking the high school, so it was very quiet as well. I usually don't sleep well in strange beds but this one was so comfy I had no trouble at all. The bathroom was spotless and very modern, and there was plenty of hot water. Free wi-fi and a stocked mini-bar and fridge were nice extras. The location of the hotel was perfect: a nice, quiet neighborhood, but only a block or so from Saint-Germain and Saint-Michel. Metro and bus stations abound, and most of the "major" monuments are within walking distance. Several excellent restaurants are within a few blocks, including the Polidor of "Midnight in Paris" fame, right next door. I traveled alone, and never felt anything less than safe in either the hotel or the neighborhood.

This hotel is very well-located. . . close to the joyful Latin Quarter and not too far from a metro stop, in a safe-feeling but quiet neighborhood. The hotel was homey and reasonably priced. . . with helpful people at the front desk and a mascot cat that loved to sit on the front desk and smell newcomers. The room was clean and mid-sized with comfortable beds.

Great location near the Odeon Metro. Friendly people at the desk who anwered all our questions. Our room faced the street but noise was not a problem for us. Easy walking to many places including Luxembourg Gardens. Since it was in the 80's while there, it was great to have air conditioning that worked very well.

Dear Madam,
We thank you very much for your positive review for TripAdvisor's travellers.
The entire hotel is air-conditioned and non smoking. We offer a free wifi connection as well.
We assume that you had chosen our hotel for these amenities (and probably for other travellers' good reviews as well) which are very important nowadays...
Looking forward to meeting you again here,
Kind regards

I have stayed at the Hotel Saint Paul twice (first in March 2010 and most recently in May 2012). The location is superb, and as a single, young(ish) female who traveled alone, I always felt safe inside the hotel and in the nearby areas. You can find countless restaurants and shops close by, and the hotel is within a short walk from the Odeon, Cluny, Luxembourg, and St. Michel metro / RER stops. I have only stayed in the hotel's larger rooms, and while they are small by American standards, the size is actually just fine. The rooms are all decorated with unique style and offer sufficient amenities. One of the best room features is the bathroom - very modern and updated, and far better than most French hotel bathrooms. I recommend eating breakfast at the hotel. The dining room is very quaint, the food selection is good, and the food is fresh. The ladies who serve breakfast are very kind, and they even remember how you take your coffee after just one morning. The front desk staff are fabulous and are so helpful. They are eager to make restaurant and taxi reservations and can provide directions to places throughout the city. I always appreciated the sweet greeting when I dropped off and picked up my room key, and I feel as though they sincerely wanted me to have "un bon journee!" I can speak French fairly well, but it has been awhile since college and I can be a bit rusty - so whether I simply couldn't remember the word or whether it was just easier to speak in English, the staff were always happy to speak in English (which they spoke quite well). I will definitely stay at the Hotel St. Paul for my next trip.

Room Tip: I think it is worth it to pay the extra Euros to avoid the smaller room categories. All rooms are sm...

Dear Mrs. Wright,
Thank you for your so positive comments ! You are right, when we say :"Bonne journée!" we mean it !!! :-) Yours is a very helpful review for women travelling by their own. The location is just perfect : very safe, lights everywhere, very lively till late at night...It may be a bit different in other places of Paris where I would not go at night, even though I am a Parisian woman.
As for your good clue,I agree: our large rooms worth the extra money. I always try to convince our clients not to select our tiny standard rooms for stays of more than 3 nights.
We look forward to seeing you again in Paris and wish you "une excellente journée !" ;-)
Kind regards

We've stayed here 3 times. Charming rooms with updated bathrooms -- 17th century building with exposed original beams. Ideal location to walk to everything. Great restaurants closeby. Two blocks to Luxembourg Park, which we stopped by every day. Very helpful people at the desk.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Hotel Saint-Paul Rive Gauche belongs to a Franco-British family, hoteliers for 4 generations, who have made the hotel a marriage of French elegance and English comfort. Situated on the line of Paris' former outer wall under Philippe Auguste, this 17th century building was once the home of Franciscan monks. The 31 bedrooms are colourful and range in style from the modern - vibrant flowered fabrics - to the traditional - exposed beams and elegant opaque curtains. There are beamed ceilings, faux ostrich bed-heads, clever corner armoires, even two baldaquin beds beneath the high ceilings of the lower floors. Entirely renovated in 2015, this boutique-hotel is close to everything, in the heart of the action, but in a quiet little street. The Luxembourg gardens vicinity and the so many walking distance sites like the Sorbonne, Notre-Dame cathedral, the Pantheon, Cluny museum and the Louvre, make the Hotel Saint-Paul Rive Gauche a convenient pied-à-terre for enjoying the city. ... more   less
