I was most impressed with a day train from Gare de Lyon [Paris] tp Lyon. It is about 600 km and it only took about 2 hours and 10 minutes and it was smooth that it was hard to believe that we were doing 300 kph most of the time. It is much more convenient than flying since you do not waste time at an airport and depart and arrive in mid city. The train had double decker carriages with comfotable seats and table. Food and drinks can be purchased.

We booked our seats from Paris to Brittany and back to Charles de Gaulle airport sitting at home in South Africa. We paid online with the minimum of fuss.

Our return journey was partially on the regional railway in Brittany, so our ticket had to be validated at a SNCF station prior to travel - the station staff couldn't have been more helpful.

The staff we encountered on the TGV were all friendly and helpful - language barrier permitting (and for heaven's sake, do try to use some French. It will be greatly appreciated). The rolling stock is starting to age, but our seats were clean and comfortable.

Still loving the TGV.

comfortable. red some reviews here before, and worried a bit if we can have a decent sleep on a moving carriage, luckily I did had a great sleep.

we booked this online-internationalrail.com.au, can not tell if we booked a triple cabin or not, after 1-2 emails, found out it is not a private triple cabin. so when we board found another gentleman already in the cabin, we are 3 ladies, luckily he is quite gentleman, trouble free. I had a good sleep, no wake up at all until about 1 hour before we arrived at venice. Half hour after we board the train the inspector took all of our passports and left the receipt, that gentleman got off at milan got his passport back before off-was told by my friend, as i did not wake up during this. there are drinks and snack for sale-a bit expensive if you need them.
if it is your first time to take this train from paris, try give yourself a bit more time at gare de lyon. we stayed at a hotel near gare du nord, took metro-easy short trip to gare de lyon, but after got gare de lyon, could not find any sign point to the right dirction for this train, had to asked around more than 3 people, when i asked one security guard and showed our ticket, he told us definitely we were at wrong station, luckily did not follow his guide, asked another 2, finally found out this train leaving at hall 3, we need wait at hall 3 and watching a board continueslly to find out which platform for boarding.

Used the TGV to get from DeGaulle airport to Nimes. The agent could not book me on the next train out, but booked me on the next one after that, and I had to pay first class fare, as that was the only option available. It turns out that May 7th is VE day (a holiday) and the next day was Ascension Thursday, another holiday. A lot of people were heading south. Beware of the difficulty of trying to travel on French holidays.

Used the TGV for getting from CDG to Disney (Val d'Europe station) and back, the journey takes about 10 minutes. Ordered tickets online and had a problem to pick them up from the automatic ticket machines at the CDG station. However, I got escorted to the customer service who managed to print out the tickets for me. Since then, everything went very smoothly.
