My boyfriend and I booked a round trip from Paris to Lourdes on 9/15 and then 9/17. The trip was reasonably comfortable, the route was scenic, and the train car moved faster than an Amtrak train (at least my impression of Amtrak). Thank goodness there was no strike. Also, we bought a bike lock for our luggage, but no one else seemed to use one, and there seemed to be no problem with luggage theft. Overall, TGV is a reliable, affordable way to commute between cities in France.
