This is the fourth time I have stayed at this property. It is exceptionally beautiful with a stunning swimming pool in an area most notable for the less-famous museums in Paris, the Guinot, the Musee du Quay de Branly, the aquarium, the Palais du Tokyo and many others, all within walking distance. If you have a hard time spending an entire day, say, in the Musee d'Orsay, the Shangri La is a good choice since most of the museums in the environs are not crowded. It's a more leisurely way to explore the arrondissement.
On the other hand, for me, the rooms have varied widely in their size and comforts. The rates are extremely variable based on volume or the current events being held in Paris. I booked an eiffel tour view room for example and sure enough, it had a view of the Eiffel tower if you got up, looked out one of the windows and craned your neck! Woo Hoo, sure enough, view of the Eiffel tower! Depending on which part of the hotel they put you, you can have a small room or a large one, one with one window or many or under a large overhang in the back of the building. All for the same top dollar. If all the rooms were equally nice, I wouldn't gripe. But they are not.
Room service is slow, staff is very pleasant. Public rooms and restaurants fabulous.More
