An excellent location - a lot of interesting sites are concentrated in the Marais itself, with the grand Place des Vosges as the central attraction, but many other places to visit in a purposeful way - or just walk around and savour. Almost across the road is a metro station giving quick access to the main central tourist zones.

The staff were all friendly and helpful (including resident dog Stanley) and breakfasts more plentiful and varied than is often the case in Continental Europe (self-service, but the waitress supplied our coffee, tea and hot water for one member of our party's special tea). Rooms are clean and entertainingly decorated (including wooden beams on the ceiling), although a bit of refurbishment is needed.

I would recommend this as a simple,amiably-staffed, modestly-priced base for exploring the many delights only a short distance away.
