Although the hostel is located very close to the Porte de Bagnolet metro station, I was not impressed by the rooms and facilities. I have stayed in several youth hostels around Europe and this was one of the worst. The bathrooms were dirty due to the other guests spilling alcohol etc. in there, the bedding was not very nice either. The hostel was always closed for cleaning in the morning so we weren't allowed to be in our rooms from morning till about noon or 2pm which was very inconvenient.

On the plus side, the recreation area is quite nice and there is a lot of information related to tourism, transport, etc.

I would recommend staying there only if you need a place to crash and don't intend to stay there for a prolonged time.

It is a little far from main touristic attractions and the downtown, but is very easy to get there by subway because there is a station close - Porte de Bagnolet) wich is a problem whether you'd rather arrive after midle night or go out befor 5 a.m. (when the subway is not working) anyway it is very easy to get anywhere by subway . The shared restrooms are a kind of dirty, but the rooms and beds are very good. There are washing machines, the breakfast are simple but delicious. There are a supermarket in the corner of hostel's building, even more there are 2 or 3 restaurants in front of subway station that are very cheap and the food are delecious too. The hostel's staff are very helpfull and kind, besides the cost-benefits is excellent.
I really didn't like the wifi becuse it is payed and just work at first floor.

Okay, so we did just take a sudden road-trip to Paris, and came into the city at 11:30 pm; all things considered, when we found this place, it was our last resort. More than anything, the place was expensive for what services were rendered. The good qualities about the place: The room was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, the location was great as it is on an easy to reach rail line into the heart of the city. We were shocked to pay 60 euros for what was lacking - we did not receive a key for a room until the next morning so we were forced to dance around having one of us stay in the room or leave the bolt out on the door and keep it unlocked. The WiFi was non-existent and we spent half of the morning looking for a cafe which could help us. Probably my expectations for this type of place was excessive, but for sure the price did not reflect the reality.

There is only one good thing about this hostel: the location. Everything else is just terrible.

The rooms are so dirty. The sheets were not clean, hair and blood spots from bed bugs all over the mattress. Had to change room two times. The staff were really kind and helpful and let us do this, but each room we changed to was still dirty. Unidentified insects crawling on the floor, bed bugs, and a shower that turns itself off every 5 seconds (and is way too hot as well).

The breakfast is so basic and not very high quality at all - i've visited France for many years and never had anything like that before. Just ham, cheese, cornflakes and bread - and the cutlery was dirty as well.

The rooms are cheap, but they aren't even worth that price. I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here, it really is bad. Unless you don't care about being clean and aren't planning to get much sleep, of course.

Not our first YHA.. I know what they are. Did a full month in Australia in YHA and they were all great. Paris end up being our second YHA in Europe and we stayed in D'artagnan for 3 nights and didn't enjoy it.

Plus: room was clean (private room 2 bunk beds). Front desk people were nice.

Minus: included breakfast... Think again... Not much to eat, for us used to larger breakfast in North America. Very noisy, inside and outside of the hostel at every time of day and night. No access to any kitchen or fridge like most other YHA. No such thing is in this place. Pretty away from everything... Minimum 30 to 40 mins metro ride to the major attractions.

So if you have time to look more and find something else... Do it. For us it was a last mins decision and not the best one.

easy to find, a little bit out of city but this one is a well known option. (I used to stay here almost 15 years ago as well.) Neighborhood has changed -not for the good so Jules Ferry is still the better option if you plan to stay in a hostel. but breakfast was free and rich; transportation was easy.
internet is paid.

We all arrived (around 9 am) about 100 of us, only thing was we couldnt check in until 3, but we put out cases away and went out, came back at 3, booms are basic but fine. Felt like we were on a brownie girls trip with the bunk beds. Beds were comfy and had a sheet and quilt which was perfect, had a good night sleep both nights. Staff were friendly and the fact the breakfast was included was great, lots of bread cheese and ham, also had cornflakes and milk and hot drinks which was lovely and perfect hangover cure. The showers were just like swimming pool ones and were fine for a brief shower, i really enjoyed it and would deffo go back! oh and close to metro links!
