“The small island where you can really live French”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2012

Every night, I would cross over from Saint Michel Notre Dame to this tiny island to settle in small cafes where some of the most authentic cafes can be found here. In Paris, you have to have crepes and ice-cream, especially Berthillon. Jump in any cafes and you won't be disappointed. The original one, however, is Le Flore en L'Ile Berthillon Restaurant (situated right across Notre Dame).

There is a great range of restaurants, fromageries, bakery and cake shops, wine shops and gift and clothing shops. No visit to this street would be complete without tasting Berthillion ice cream at their shop. (look out for the opening hours). We stayed in an apartment in this street and found it to be a great place to eat and walk especially after the day tourists have gone. It does get busy here on weekends. There are many old buildings in the street including the St Louis en l'Ile Chruch which was built in the 1600s,
