“Do Not Stay Here on Weekends”
Reviewed June 23, 2009

We have stayed at the D'Aubusson twice before and have always been happy with the hotel. This time was different!

On the weekends they have a jazz combo in the bar.....it attracts a large and lively crowd. The music is very loud and can be heard in a majority of the rooms. We checked in about 7:00 in the evening after taking a train from Switzerland. They "upgraded" our superior room to a deluxe and we went up to our very large, lovely room. The only problem was it was on the first floor right over the night club. The music was very loud, and the room was actually vibrating. We called down to say thanks for the upgrade, but no thanks. They switched us to the same room on the second floor and we did not hear any music so we thought we were fine in that room. Well, the band must have been taking a break because when we returned from dinner around 10 pm, we could hear the music again. It was late and we were tired so we decided to deal with the noise and speak to the manager in the morning. The music did not stop until about 12:30....neither of us slept well, and the next morning we went down to speak to Jean the manager. He was very nice and sympathetic and said this is a common problem on the weekends. He suggested that next time we come on a weekend we should request a quiet room away from the club. I don't think there will be a next time.

Long story short, he tried to find us another room, but the only two available were not acceptable, as one was tiny and the other was in the same area as the club.

Luckily, the Relais Christine around the corner had one room available for the other two nights, and we grabbed it. Jean was sympathetic and said he understood why we needed to check out and move for the last two nights.

On the positive side, Jean could not have been nicer and more helpful. But, I think the hotel needs to decide if wants to be a night club (I imagine they make a lot of money from this) or a hotel.

So I would just caution you not to book this hotel on a weekend or make sure you can get a quiet room. Or do what we did.....stay at the comparable hotel around the corner, the Relais Christine which could not have been better.

The best part of our stay was the staff.
Everyone at the Hotel was very attentive and knowledgable. The staff was multi lingual. Breakfast was included and was terrific. The location was great with access to two metro lines an easy walk.
Initially we stayed in the Duplex/Loft. The room was large by European standards. Unfortunately the room was HOT, especially upstairs. Fans were provided which made the room tolerable at best. We moved to the fourth floor and had connecting rooms which were much cooler. The sheets had the texture of sand paper if that matters.
The WiFi at the Hotel is TERRIBLE. We wre unable to log on from our room and many other areas of the hotel. There is a computer in the lobby that can be used but is not a substitute to having your own PC. This was very disappointing as we rely heavily on the web to plan/modify our trip.
Overall nice hotel with great staff that needs a few tweaks.

Overall it is a nice hotel. But definetely not excellent. I think it is not value for money. We had paid 1000 euros for 3-night stay and were upgraded to junior suite. But even there the bed was very short, the bathroom was very cold in the mornings. The breakfast was ok and location is excellent! Unfortunately, the staff there was not great. We had tickets to classical concert included in our package but staff has directed us to the wrong place so we missed it!

My wife and I just returned from a 5 night stay at the d'Aubusson for our first visit to Paris. Our decision to stay at the hotel was influenced by previous Trip Advisor reviews and our experience exceeded even our high expectaions. We booked the "Romance Package" which included a pickup at CDG, a boatride on the Seine, a concert at St. Chapelle, tickets to the Louvre, breakfast, and a champagne luncheon in the courtyard. As noted by other guests, the location is great and the gracious staff significantly contributed to our experience. Before visiting I exchanged numerous emails with Laurent on the concierge staff to pre-plan some activities and dinner plans, especially since this was our first trip to Paris. He was always very prompt and detailed in his responses and his suggestions were all great. The other members of the concierge staff were also very helpful after we arrived.
Our room was very quiet and comfortable and the public areas were very nicely appointed. Even had a PC available for guest use since I retired recently and do not have a BB or carry a laptop these days.
Overall, we have stayed at many hotels around Europe in Italy, Belgium, UK, Sweden and Irelend and we found the d'Aubusson to be a first class establishment. Wouldn't think of staying any place else when we return to Paris.

Just got back from six nights here...read all the reviews on this website and have to agree with most of it. Perfect location in the 6th arrondisment, 5 minutes to Metro, 2 minutes to Pont Neuf/Seine. Lots of great eats within 5 minues.Front desk was very accomodating and upgraded us after seeing our small Classic Room. Upgrade was nicer, bathrooms nicely appointed (though water switched from hot to cold quite often) Lots of great help from Jean at the front desk as far as restaurants, directions, etc. Breakfast buffet was excellent and a great way to start a day of walking the city. Only negative was the price, but that's what 4 star hotels in Paris charge I guess. Found best deal on hotel's website with free night, breakfast and limo pick up at airport.

I feel it necessary to respond to the previous reviewer's comments, since they seem totally out of character with the Hotel d'Aubusson. I have been a client for many years now and have stayed at the Aubusson on numerous occasions. I have recommended the hotel to friends who have stayed here as well. The hotel is well managed and well situated, the rooms are lovely, well equipped, reasonably sized, and immaculate. The staff could not be more accommodating. The breakfast room is delightful and the breakfast choices and quality of food is very good. I have never found the hotel to be noisy, though I typically request a room on the rue Christine side of the hotel. The Aubusson is within walking distance of Notre Dame, the Ile St Louis and the Louvre, many restaurants and shops, and is convenient to at least 4 metro stops. It's a great boutique hotel!
