“Cute boutique hotel”
Reviewed June 8, 2014 via mobile

We stayed at Hotel St Beuve for 8 nights in May. We were pleased with the decor-it looked like a sweet, boutique French hotel. The rooms were quite small but I think that is typical in many European hotels-initially we were worried we wouldn't fit all our clothes but we found space for most of what we brought. We were out exploring the city so we weren't in the room other then when it was time for bed anyway. We spent some time in the lobby reading when we had a quieter evening. The staff members were very helpful, although there was one time where a message didn't get passed on to me and we went all the way to a restaurant in Montmatre only to find it closed! When the front desk staff member saw us the next day she gave us the message but that was a little too late unfortunately. Anyways, no one is perfect. I wouldn't let that affect my overall impression of the hotel.

It is in quite a good location. I was reading "The Paris Wife" while I was there and we were right in the area that Hemingway and other writers in the 20s lived and ate, partied etc. There are tons of restaurants and cafés and a Starbucks right around the corner. There are also two subway/metro stops about a 5 minute walk (if that) from the hotel. We walked to a lot of the places as well-even though it took us 30 minute or more.

All in all I think it was a great hotel and would recommend it. And the price seemed fair for what it offered.

Stayed there for 3 nights. We flew into CDG and it was an easy train to Montparnasse station and an easy 15 minute walk (with rolling luggage) to the hotel. The staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The breakfast was very good, although we ordered a la carte, omelette and fruit salad.

We stayed 3 days and we loved it. The hotel is Left bank central, close to so many historical sites and in a great neighborhood. our room was very clean and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The decor is original and warm. The breakfast is plenty and delicious. Heaven of peace in Paris. Definitively will recommend to family and friends.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice.

The Sainte-Beuve has received many complimentary reviews, and we decided to stay there, glad we did. We concluded that we wanted to stay in Room 6. Its a double room on the second floor, but its main feature is a small balcony with a table and chairs perfect for a glass of wine before dinner (or even a sandwich for dinner on those days when we had a large lunch). The hotel told us they could not guarantee our request, but they did come through, we were assigned Room 6. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. The room is small (about 3 meters by 4.5 meters), and the bathroom is split (the tub/shower and sink in one room and the toilet in another room across the entry hall. However, this was not a problem. We had breakfast at the hotel every day at 16 Euros per person. The breakfast is large, fresh orange juice, a bowl of fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee and a basket of croissants and baguettes. Cheese and cold ham are also available at no extra cost. You can order a la carte and have juice, bread basket, coffee and a ham/cheese omelet (actually scrambled eggs) at about the same price. The staff was very helpful. Sabrina and Pauline were on duty for the 6 days that we were there. There are lots of restaurants nearby as well as a small grocery/wine store and boulangerie. It is easy to get anywhere quickly by Metro. We took the M12 from Notre Dame des Champs to Sacre Coeure (exit Abbeses), and to the D'Orsay (exit Soliferino) and to the Louvre (exit Concorde and transfer to the M1 to Louvre Rivoli). We also took the M12 to Soliferino, walked to D'Orsay and transferred to the RER C train to Versailles Rive Gauche (See separate review for more information on Versailles). To go to Ile de la Cite, take the M4 from Vavin to Cite.

Room Tip: Request Room 6 for a balcony with a table and chairs

Stayed here for 3 nights. Easy to get to from CDG airport by train/subway. Close to many restaurants and stores and close enough to underground station to easily get to anyplace in the city. Room was nice but a bit small. Very clean and staff was friendly and very helpful. Tiffany working at the front desk each day we were there was very helpful in assisting us and always had a smile on her face. Only drawback for the hotel is an "underground niteclub" (club Zin Zin) that opened last year just down the street from the hotel that seemed to open about 10-11 pm. each night and played loud, deep base music until about 4 a.m. The music seemed to echo down the narrow street and since our room face the street, it keep us up a few times.

The Sainte Beuve is right in the centre of things on the left bank, yet manages to feel like a quiet haven. Staff are easily multilingual, welcoming but never pushy. The lobby is small but warmly decorated and a great place to take the generous breakfast or have a night cap. One could feel as if they were in a private home, running into only one or two other guests at any one time.

Our room was perfectly decorated, homey without being cluttered, with art that reflected the history of Paris without being cliched. The bathroom was clean, beautiful, and had plenty of hot water. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room very quiet at night, with no annoying "air flow" sounds from the temperature control system.

We were happy to come home to the Sainte Beuve after walking around Paris for hours. Best of all, we slept well!

Room Tip: The Junior Suites provide that extra bit of room that makes everything a little bit easier.

Close to the Luxembourg Gardens and the Montparnasse train station, this is a small hotel with an unusually cordial and helpful staff. Rooms are a bit small, but well-kept, and the hotel provides a nice breakfast ( at additional charge). The main virtues are the excellent location, close to many small restaurants, in a mostly residential neighborhood, and well located with respect to subway stations for various lines. Reasonably priced (for Paris), too. Strongly recommended.
