I have stayed at this hotel twice in recent years. The first time myself and two friends stayed on the top floor in a little attic room with beautiful views of the rooftops and the church of St Germain de Pres chiming on the hour. The second time we stayed in another room that was rather dark but adequate for our needs.

The size of the rooms for a boutique hotel is absolutely fine. You don't get Holiday Inn size rooms in quaint little Parisian hotels.

You must bear in mind that the hotel stands on one of the most fashionable streets in Paris after the Champs Elysees. You get what you pay for.

In terms of location, it cannot be beaten. You are in the heart of St Germain and close to lots and lots of famous sites. Imagine walking around the area after dinner and crossing over the Pont Neuf bridge at dusk with views of the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre and Notre Dame in front of you.

The breakfast is fine and is a good start to the day if you can't be bothered to navigate the cafes for a cut price croissant.. I loved the little garden at the back.

No complaints at all. The service and staff are friendly but I would probably try another hotel for a different experience.

  • Liked — The attic room on the top floor - exquisite.
  • Disliked — Some rooms can be a bit dark.

Location is wonderful and the courtyard garden is a real bonus on a sunny afternoon.

I had a room overlooking the front of the hotel and it was a bit noisy as guests tended to stand there chatting. Rooms on higher floors probably obviate that problem.

The rooms are small and they have seen better days. The bathrooms are very small indeed - I could just about cope with the smallness but mine wasn't that clean. Mouldy grouting, dusty skirting boards etc. No Roger & Gallet accessories for me.

With a little updating and a good clean it could be beautiful again. Meanwhile you are paying for the location and what a location it is.

There is lots to be said for QUIET in Paris. This hotel has it. We have stayed there twice and would stay again. But the rooms ARE very small and you will have to live out of your suitcase. Breakfast in the courtyard is delightful but a bit steep (not included) and the staff is helpful.

This hotel is in a great left bank positiion. Right next to St Germain metro and within walking distance of the main sites. Additionally there are lovely local individual shops for browsing in a very atmospheric quartier, plus you are a stone's throw from the famous literary cafes such as les deux magots and lots of other restaurants.

The hotel is charming and as others have said with a lovely conservatory and garden where you can take breakfast if the weather is fine. The breakfast was good, plenty of bread, rolls jam, orange juice (not fresh), tea, coffee or chocolate and lovely yoghurt.

The Madame (owner?) is a typically french concierge type and it helps if you speak french. Our room was lovely and looked over the front courtyard. It was very quiet even though the hotel is located in the midst of a busy bustling area. The walls were covered with a blue damask fabric with contrasting curtains and the beds had a canopy over - very pretty. However, the bathroom was the smallest that I have ever seen - the size of a cupboard, but it did contain, loo, basin in marble surround and an excellent shower - good pressure, but not enough protection so it splashed everywhere. So don't take your clean clothes into the shower! Nice toiletries by Roger & Gallet.

A good find in a special area.

  • Liked — The room decor and the unusual shape of the room
  • Disliked — miniscule bathroom

I stayed three nights at the Hotel des Marronniers during a lovely visit to Paris with my Mother. We had stayed at the des Marronniers 10 years ago and found very little had changed.

The decoration of the hotel is alittle faded but still quite pretty. Our bedroom was covered in floral wallpaper and curtains which I appreciate may not be to everyones taste. The pictures on the website do acurately reflect the decor of hotel. Don't expect anything modern or stylish.

I was surprised at some of the reviews with people saying their rooms were very small. We had requested a twin bedroom with a bath and we were given #63 which was at the top of the hotel. The room was not huge but was fairly spacious with a lovely bath and lots of space for toiletries. The toiletries provided were very nice. The room also had two huge closets with plenty of hangers provided. The two twin beds in the room were pushed together so it could have been used for a double if someone didn't mind that. The bedroom and bathroom had large windows which opened and the bells of St Germain des Pres could be plainly heard - lovely. Other than the bells there was no noise as the room looked out onto a inner courtyard and we also did not hear hoise from other rooms in the hotel.

The best thing about the hotel is the location which is ideal for walking to tourist sites and museums, catching buses or the metro and shopping. Also there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars in the area. It is lively late into the evening and we felt safe walking around at night.

The French hotel staff were fantastic. They were always welcoming without being over familar. They suggested restaurants and made reservations for us. They spoke English but were also happy to try and communicate in French if you want to give it a go.

There is a computer with Internet access in the lobby of the hotel. You need to buy a card which gives you access but this is very resonably priced - 9 Euros I seem to remember. This was for 1 hours usage which I used over the 3 days we were there.

We did not eat breakfast in the hotel so I could not comment. We went to Paul's around the corner each morning which has excellent pastries (corner of Rue de Seine and Rue de Buci).

I think Hotels in Paris can be hit-or-miss and it sounds as though this hotel may have some small rooms. We found our room very comfortable and very much enjoyed staying there. I look forward to returning again.

A group of us stayed in 3 different rooms at this hotel, so we got a sample of what the hotel had to offer. When my boyfriend made the reservations, the hotel website said, "request room #52 for fantastic rooftop views" (or something to that extent.) When we got there, the room was literally as large as the bed, with about 9 inches on any side to walk. (a little more, like 24" on the foot of the bed, but the room couldn't have been much larger than about 10x10) The bathroom was equally tiny and there was no shelf space for toiletries. The TV is mounted on the wall and that was good -- we needed the space! It was not a room designed for two. The rooftop view was there, but with the tiny window and no AC, it was NOT worth the extra cash (and they were charging for it!)

My mother's room was larger (but still smaller than any American hotel, so be prepared) with a great bathroom. Still small, but functional and with some space to put things out.

Our friends had the upstairs 3 bed room. Their room was spacious. (I didn't see it, but when they saw ours they gasped and said theirs was twice the size of ours, at least)

The moral of the story is this: don't get fooled by the "view". Paris is full of views you will see all day, you won't even spend a second looking at them from your room.

We did not eat breakfast there, fairly overpriced. Instead we walked down to "Paul" down the street to enjoy fresh baked bread at a fraction of the price. A great way to start the morning!

Given the price of the hotel, I'm not sure I'd stay there again. We didn't have a problem with the staff, quite the opposite, they were polite and helpful. The location was great, we could walk to almost everything, but I might try something else when I return to paris.

My husband, granddaughter and I had a wonderful week of memories staying at this beautiful Frence flavored hotel. We found the hotel clean, beautiful and the staff couldn't have been more pleasant. We would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family. The location made it very easy to travel around the city for various day trips.
