“Fantastic stay in room 14”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Wen tto Paris with my teenage son, wanting to walk in Hemingways old neighbour hood, and this hotel was the most wanted. We got a room, and sent a mail to the hotel that we wanted Hemingways room, no. 14, if possible. It was more expencive and already reserved, but when we got there we got the room anyway, due to cancellation. We were thrilled. The room is wonderful. It is facing the busy street, so if you want to sleep tight, you might want to try to get one that is not facing the street.
The staff was great, the food was good, the beds were huge and lovely, and we loved that they had pictures of Hemingway in the room. The room also had a desk, so if you are an aspiring writer, this can do as a writers hide out.
Great location, very close to all the places Hemingway used to visit, including Shakespear and Company.

Hotel d'Angleterre was a very pleasant surprise, even after viewing the website. The historic property is gradually being restored to its former elegance, with work going on during our stay to a room on a higher floor. This did not disturb us in any way. Our suite #46 was very spacious, with a separate closet (with safe), a sitting room with flat screen TV, a bedroom (another flat screen TV) and large bathroom with separate water closet. Although we visited in April, the weather was very chilly and wet. Radiators provided heat to each room, and we were able to turn off the radiators for a more comfortable sleeping temperature. This suite overlooks the patio, so it would be a lovely view in a 'normal' spring. Suite 46 could use a bit of a makeover, but it was charming and clean. Linens were of excellent quality, and the bed was fabulous, with a comfy duvet to ward off the cool nights.
The desk staff were all very polite and friendly, and spoke good to excellent English. The housekeeping staff were very polite and helpful as well. Breakfast was excellent, with protein sources in addition to the usual Continental fare. The location is perfect for a walking tour of historic Paris. We do not hesitate to highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Suite #46: Access was up a short set of stairs that may challenge those with any walking disability...

On our 7th trip to Paris we enjoy the pleasant helpful staff at the D'Angleterre. They assisted with restaurant bookings and directions and were friendlynand accurate. The cozy neighborhood has only improved since our last stay with cafes, shopping and late night places all around. Although not large by US standards, our standard room was spacious for Paris. It has a foyer where the toilette is also situated in French fashion, then a separate sitting area with tv, reasonably sized bedroom also with tv uand nice bath with double sinks. Wifi works well and is included. Breakfast is a welcome addition since many smaller hotels do not include it. It was too chilly for the pretty courtyard to be in use as this is a late spring but it would be a plus in warmer weather. The desk staff double as bartenders for the small lobby bar perfect for a late night cognac. We felt perfectly at home.

Room Tip: A room on the courtyard is quiet in chilly months.

Hotel d'Angleterre exceeded my expectations. The location was perfect. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They provide an included breakfast that surpasses the average continental breakfast. Our room was comfortable and large, with a seating area and walk-in closet. I have stayed in other Paris hotels, and this was by far the largest room I have ever had. I would recommend Hotel d'Angleterre and stay there again.

Another short stay at Hotel d'Angleterre was pleasant. The reception was professional though depending on who was at the desk it was sometimes unfriendly. The breakfast which was included in my room night was abundant and delicious. The hotel could use a coat of paint however. Some of the literature boasts that the staircase is classified with some kind of historic or architectural significance even though it looks run down and neglected. Overall a great property that needs some work. The location can't be beat...Oh...and the room had plenty of heat!

We spent 6 nights at this wonderful hotel between Xmas and New Years this past year. Located on a quiet street in St.Germain des Pres, it is within walking distance of the Louvre, Notre Dame, Sainte Chappell and the Musee D'Orsay in addition to lots of restaurants, bakeries, Henri La Roux caramel shop, Gien China store and lots of other good places to go. The staff was excellent and helped us out when 2 of our party got a bit ill. A nice little bar to meet before going out for the evening; a great little breakfast room with a nice selection of continental breakfast goodies. The front desk folks were excellent and helpful. We had a junior suite - it was very roomy and a large bathroom. Closet space was limited but there was plenty of floor room to put suitcases, etc. The center courtyard was beautiful even in the winter months and offered a nice place to sit quietly during the day or evening. I would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who wants to be within walking distance of wonderful historic sites and close to restaurants.

Stayed in 02/2012. The rooms need updating, if nothing else some lighting and new mattresses would do wonders.
The mattress was horrible and sunk in the middle. Additionally what the website does not note is that the beds are not full size. Needless to say neither my husband or I slept well for 7 nights.
The maid service was not up to par and not very friendly. However, the majority of the rest of the staff were very kind, the morning breakfast was a nice addition and the small, quaint restaurant across the street is fantastic.
If given the choice, I would stay elsewhere considering that are multiple options in Paris.
