“Pleasant Hotel in perfect location!”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

Located in a side road off St Michel boulevard within walking distance of all the left bank attractions and very near Luxembourg RER station. There is a small gym and sauna in the basement, complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby lounge and they offer a laundry service. This seems to be enough to qualify for 4*s which I thought was over egging it a bit, but I got it on a deal at 3* prices so I'm not complaining. Personally, I didn't like the decor, trying to be modern Parisian chic, but comes across as a bit of a tart’s boudoir, and I didn't feel that a blue light over the bath compensated for no bathroom shelf to but your stuff on! Would work better for a shopping and romance weekend break than a business stopover, although Wi-Fi speeds were good by hotel standards.

Clean, comfortable hotel with very pleasant and helpful staff. Both the room and bathroom were small by South African standards (approx 3m x 4m) but adequate nonetheless - clever use of mirrors gives illusion of space. However, little wardrobe space or place to store suitcases. Also no tea or coffee making facility in the room was a drawback but complimentary tea and muffins/buscuits served in the lobby from 3-6pm. People in Paris only eat dinner from 8:30pm onward. We had a room on the 4th floor and experienced little street noise. The room was very quiet even though the hotel appeared full.

The hotel is located in a quiet side street in the heart of the Latin Quarter - not the loud touristy part. Well located, just 5 minutes walk from Luxembourg Garden station and 10-15 minutes walk down to the river and Notre Dame. A bus stop to board one of the open-topped tour buses around Paris is conveniently situated just around the corner.

Breakfast was very good - smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were my favourite!

Room Tip: Ours was a standard room. It would be worth your while to upgrade to next level to experience a bit...

My wife and I stayed here for New Years Eve 2011 ... we had a great time.

Rooms were small, but to be expected in Paris.

Hotel is nice and modern, good location, near the metro and Luxembourg Gardens.

Staff are friendly and helpful.

We liked the hotel and would return

We had an excellent stay at the Grand Hotel Saint Michel for 3 days and 2 nights in the end of April. Check in was quick and without any hassles. We were early and the room wasn't available. They fixed it for us in about 30 min. We stayed in 501, a deluxe double and it was suitable for our needs. A great bathroom and in the room itself we had space for a baby cot, which they had arranged for us, and our baby stroller. The room was really nice. A couple of things to mention. Upon arrival there was a part of the mat outside the toilette that was soaked with water. The water is probably coming from the shower. However this dried up and wasn't a problem day two. As long as you don't flood the bathroom when you are taking a shower. The beds were a bit to hard for us but the bed linen and pillows etc. were of excellent quality though. The AC didn't work that well. It was about 20-24 Celsius when we visited Paris and our room was a little to hot although the AC said 19 degrees Celsius. However, there is one window in the room and one in the toilette which helped.

We usually eat breakfast out when we visit Paris so I cant say anything about their breakfast. We had a baby stroller with us, Bugaboo Donkey, and there wasn't any problems at all fitting the stroller in the elevator and so forth. So bringing a child or two to this hotel isn't a problem. We had our 4 month old son with us.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to live in this part of Paris. However, i cant say anything about the smaller rooms since we stayed in a deluxe double.

All in all a good experience.

Room Tip: 501 is great.

we spent a couple of days with friends in this hotel
we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere
the rooms are rather small and there is very little place to store clothes
one can choose for breakfast between continental (10€) and buffet (20 €)

Room Tip: choose chambre double de luxe for more comfort

Nice, clean hotel with very good staff. Firm but good beds. Quite expensive (20 euros/person/night) but good breakfast. Very good location. Small tv. Fast WiFi, but it dropped out some times. A bit noisy from street at morning

Everything was great regarding the hotel and its services. Staff were great! But upon departure we took the hotel recommended shuttle and came to realize this was a mistake. They are not a licensed service which has serious implications when being dropped off at the airports. Hotel should offer full disclosure on this service before booking the pick up.

We deeply apologize for the inconveniences with the shuttle bus service.
